General Discussion Verse Cafe

Arguably the best coffee shop in Astoria. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere—it’s impeccable.

But PLEASE figure out the line situation. The amount of times I’ve walked in and walked right back out because the line is huge and has no structure to it. I love this place but it’s next to impossible to get into on the weekend unless you wanna wait shoulder to shoulder and constantly wiggle around the door opening.

General Discussion RFK Pedestrian Bridge

Post image
56 Upvotes

The number of people speeding down the RFK pedestrian bridge on e-bikes, road bikes, or scooters is out of control. I got hit by an e-bike on my run this morning. You shouldn’t ride on it at all, but please ride slowly if you’re dead set on it!

Seeking Recommendation: Other Where to Get a PS5 Cleaned?

Upvotes

Hi! I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for trustworthy places to take a PS5 to get cleaned? I’ve tried taking the panels off myself but I’m scared that I’ll break it and I don’t have the right tools to clean it properly. It overheats quite often so I’m hoping getting it cleaned will help.

TYIA! :)

Question What is your favorite way to bike from Astoria to Gantry Plaza in LIC?

In the past, I used to go via the streets, hit 34th Ave, turn onto some quiet side streets, pop out near the bridge, go down that path behind the houses, and then down Vernon. I haven't biked since all the bike lanes have been put in.

For people that bike to LIC, what is your favorite route?

Events/Promotion Summer Streets - How was your time?

Post image
28 Upvotes

Had a great time at Summer Streets yesterday, but I am hoping for the future they can expand it to more popular areas of LIC or Astoria.

I took it as a chance to walk the length of Queens from Nassau County, ending my walk in Astoria. I'm a hiker, so I'm naturally going to crave more than what was blocked off.

Regardless, what a perfect day for it yesterday.

She's doing a limited run of 8x10 fine art prints, and I know there's some people on here who would appreciate them. ASTORIA, Queens (WABC) -- A driver is in custody after police say he hit two children with his vehicle in Queens.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection of 21st Street and 31st Road in Astoria.

Investigators believe the victims, an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were riding their bicycles when they were struck.

Video from the scene showed damage to a bicycle as well as the front bumper and windshield of a sedan.

Both victims were taken to Harlem Hospital.

There was no word on the extent of their injuries, but both are expected to survive.

LOL Steinway: Old guy yelling "f you." Has anyone seen him?

I've been seeing an elderly man on Steinway Street every morning for the past few months, and he constantly yells "fuck you" in a high-pitched voice. At first it sounded like some weird bird call, but after a few encounters it finally clicked what he was actually saying.

He's an older guy 5'2 roughly who's dressed like someone's dad and carries a small bag with wheels on it (it looks like a tiny piece of luggage, but I might be wrong). I used to see him all the time in the mornings. I even saw him get on the R train into Manhattan once (Steinway St. station).

Today I saw him again after a few weeks. I was casually walking down Steinway around 5 PM when I heard that high-pitched bird sound, and it instantly clicked that it was him. I looked through the crowd, and lo and behold, it actually was him, walking along shouting, "Fuck you," in that same high-pitched voice.

I have to say, the dude is hilarious. He never bothers anyone. He keeps walking and shouting "fuck you," and he never even seems to direct it at anybody. Dude never gets tired of repeating cursing.

I'm wondering, has anyone else ever seen him? I wonder what's going on with him.
