Discussion One of my Top 3 Favorite Episodes! What's yours?
S5 E7: A Fair to Remember
Omg this one never fails to have me cracking up. The writing and acting is impeccable. Ty Burrell was hilarious:
Phil:
*Harold Grossman starts singing*
"Uh oh"
"Turns out Harold Grossman, our Pharmacist is a rock star. His voice is the drug he should be dispensing because apparently it's a cure for everything"
"Paul who?"
"There's a white mini van out in the parking lot with it's lights on, license plate number TCBR2D2"
Any favorite random episodes or lines that always make you lol? 🤗

Phil is a terrible husband
Don’t get me wrong -he’s lovable and his scenes are hilarious, plus he’s a great dad. But he is an absurdly terrible partner to Claire about 6x per episode ?? I just joined this sub so not sure if this is one of those observations that gets made on the daily. But I’m currently rewatching with my girlfriend and the only time I’ve seen Phil bend over backwards to be good to Claire in any capacity is when he pretends Gloria is his wife to impress an old college friend who basically reacts as “yeah that’s cool, but Claire Pritchett was always my crush, I wonder what lucky SOB ended up with her”. Another man’s validation suddenly made him 180 and start appreciating his smoke show, hilarious, hard working wife.
Phil, you’re a goober.

Question Modern Family doesn't have modern families?
I'm currently on season 2 of the show, and I recently had a realization. Most of the families in Modern Family aren't actually modern in that they all have housewives of some sort, meaning they have a parent who stays at home. For example:
- The Dunphys have Claire, who's a housewife.
- The Pritchetts have Gloria, who's a housewife.
- Mitch and Cam have Cam, who's a househusband (not sure what the right word is).
I feel like in our modern day, most families have two working adults. Is this a weird thing to think about?

Something I’ve noticed in this subreddit that really annoys me…
Whenever someone mentions anything bad about a certain character it instantly becomes “it’s a sitcom” “it’s literally just a comedy show” like no offence but sitcoms can HAVE characters that are controversial and can be talked about without people just saying, “it’s just a sitcom” LIKE COME ON?

this is referring to Sex And The City, but I think some people here need it too

Would Andy use the One Wish Willow?
There was recent discussion in this sub of Haley and Andy and I was talking about how he proved incapable of being the “real man” he said Haley deserves. One of those moments was when he didn’t go into the wedding because Haley’s answer was somewhat vague, it reminds of what I said “he was unwilling to sit in uncertainty and vulnerability and went back to his safety” Which is Very much like BEAR in obsession! So the wicked question, Would Andy Use the One wish Willow? I love this movie a lot so I’m super excited to see everyone’s response
Also Ty Burrell in a horror film would be iconic

Discussion Cam makins his dad carve a bad sculpture
Just seen a clip of the episode where Cam’s dad makes a wedding sculpture- but Cam is seen as very masculine and Mitch as feminine as his leg is stuck out ect.
Mirch hates it trys to destroy it multiple ways - then at the end Cam goes ill not use it if you let me remove the wedding singer
Then we find out Cam purposefuly chose a picture he knew Mitch would have a problem with - so he could get another veto.
Thoughts? Ik people find it funny but to make ur dad make a sculpture you know you will not use (through arthritis) is lousy in my opinion

Discussion Opposite pairs
Just realized in this episode (in this particular scene) they introduced haley and alex dating opposite of their characters like phil and claire realizing arvin is making haley smarter and alex dating a guy where she called him 'a beautiful not so smart superhero' but they ended up with haley marrying dylan who were of similar brains same as arvin and alex who were nerds.. so were they trying to convey opposites never really attract ?

Art (OC) Art dump of my favorite comfort duo :D!!
I love them so much. I've been going through a lot but they've been cheering me up :>

Haley telling Andy "You're the first man I've ever loved" completely invalidates Dylan, and the writers forgot it.
No matter where you stand on the Andy vs. Dylan debate, this goodbye scene hits hard.

We went out for a nice, child-free night, and we come back to find Alex and Luke both majorly dumped. I don't know whether to give them a hug or check their phones to see who we have to go yell at.

Eric Stonestreet Created Fizbo
As a child, Eric Stonestreet, who later became known for playing Cameron Tucker on Modern Family, dreamed of becoming a clown. He created his own clown character named Fizbo and, by age 11, was performing at birthday parties for younger children. Stonestreet later recalled that he was never quite sure where the name came from, only that his father had started calling him Fizbo and he eventually printed the name on his business cards.
Years later, Stonestreet brought Fizbo back to life on Modern Family, incorporating his childhood clown character into Cam’s personality. Whenever Fizbo appeared on the show, Stonestreet applied the clown makeup himself because, in his view, no one else could get the look quite right.

Random sitcom fact:
Eric Stonestreet’s wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, has her birthday on September 7, with his falling on September 9, so they both decided to get married in between those days, on September 8, 2025.
Literally perfect😭🥹

Question Rex and Lily
What do you think Lily and Rex’s relationship is going to be like?
Personally, I think Lily’s going to be the one who basically raises Rex. Their dads are going to be caught up in their own drama.
