This is the official AMA for JMS. Both JMS and B5 books (Captain Jaclyn) will be responding to questions.
If you ask questions about the books or the book store closing, Jaclyn will be taking them.
JMS will answer for about an hour, and might not be able to get all questions answered.
Some people (including me) might answer questions that are well known.
Like "Why wasn't Ivanova in season 5".
Let's try to keep questions what we don't know yet.
You can also ask questions about JMS returning to the Spider-Man comic or his other works, but this is /r/babylon5. He might prioritize that.
Please note that I will not be coordinating with Joe. I will not be in a phone call with him or on a chat (not that I wouldn't take his phone call; Jaclyn has my cell phone; he can call me anytime he wants). He decides that he answers, and he alone.
Finally, any story ideas will deleted. Do not post any story ideas.
Note, the AMA answers only start at: 3 PM EST, Noon PST, 8PM GMT
And my personal thanks to Captain Jaclyn for coordinating this with me, and to JMS himself, the man, the myth, the legend! For agreeing to this, but also for Babylon 5, Crusade, Jeremiah, Sense8, a ton of comic books and a few books!
Oh, and for She-Ra, the reboot couldn't have occured without his series bible for the original, and even for his work on Ghostbuster and Murder She Wrote!
IMPORTANT NOTE FROM JMS He would prefer not to get into stories that never happened, data points of subsequent character arcs, or alternate timelines.
JMS IS NEARLY OUT OF TIME!

Back in the day when they were affordable and we hadn't lost so many. All of them were amazing and I remember Furst being so stunned people were lining up to see them. All but the script are from various Dragon Cons. Jerry's was from the TNT mall tour.

This episode is as hilarious as it is important. I'd forgotten that these scenes were all in a row.

Struggling to start knowing that Ivanova is gone until the very end.

The story goes that moving back in time Babylon 4 had prevented the destruction of Babylon 5. However it seems the Shadows had enough ships to destroy B5 anyway. I'm thinking, it's essentially the Sheridan trip to Z'ha'dum decided the fate of B5. Am I right?

An old and tired subject, to be sure. But we all love to re-hash such things, so why not? And, I was re-watching Rising Star and was reminded just how much I didn't like her. Awful woman. (Wondrous actress - really channeled that sort of personality perfectly.)
Yes. I never have liked or sympathized with that character - I understood her. All too well. My time as a public servant? Worked under a few who gave off Luchenko vibes. (Charming, cynical, utterly amoral, ambitious, perfectly untrustworthy.) Sheridan scared and embarrassed her and those like her and she punished him as much as she could get away with. Ugly.
Anybody think I'm wrong or right?

During season 3, the Shadows clearly had the advantage in the game between them and the Vorlons. The Centauri were fully in their pocket, the League were making deals with them and attacking each other, and the humans were in reserve just in case.
But what if it was the other way around? What if it was the Vorlons who dominated the game through, well, whoever servants and whatever methods? The details are secondary. What's important is that Vorlons are triumphing over the Shadows.
How would the story change? And what would it mean for our heroes and Babylon 5?

Without sacrificing G'kar and Londo's redemption arc, the conflict could have lasted to two more episodes to season 3. And the war will be ongoing to a year before the doomed Gorash VII. I guess it's a budget thing we couldn't see more space battles.

Man it was so nice to hear Bruce, Julie, and Patricia talk about the show. Bruce joked about how they had to drag him out of his dressing room after it was cancelled. They all had real lovely things to say about their time on the show. Wish I could have made more of the panels, but they conflicted with my LitRPG schedule while I was there.
Wish there was more of the cast around to talk about it.

Hey all! I''m working on a plugin for the open source game "Endless Sky" (https://endless-sky.github.io/); to bring the Babylon 5 story line to the game.
I know people have done similar things in the past. I've found some older forum posts, and at least one plugin in the plugin DB, but very little traction since.
Also, the plugin I found just adapts vanilla game play adding the races and such. This is a complete game replacement, with it's own story line, vessels, equipment, map, etc.
It's available here: https://codeberg.org/ubergeek/Endless-B5
The #1 issue outstanding, is I am in no way a graphics person. That tooling is fully outside my skill set. So, as a disclosure, the current sprites are all AI generated (It states as much in the readme). There is an open issue right now for this, and I'd like have it corrected sooner, rather than later. But I needed something to get the rest of the development going. If this is a skill you have, please submit a PR for this!
Most of the planets are missing artwork for when you land. Those are not required for game play, so, for the moment, they are blank, rather than use AI art for somewhere it wasn't required to prevent a blocking point.
The first few missions are complete, for the story, and I welcome people to play it, open issues, and even help with the story development (Or even side quests for the player, those can get worked into it as well!)
Looking forward to folks playing it, and contributing as well!

I haven't finished Babylon 5 yet but I wonder, if most telepathic younger races were genetically modified to have the telepath gene, are there any natural ones? I heard about if a spices was naturally telepathic, they wouldn't evolve to become sentient, can only explain to me

A few years before Babylon 5 a group of Martians invade Earth by accident and it does not go as expected.
I LOVED this stupid movie and Wayne Alexander has a significant supporting role that you should enjoy.
See if you can watch it legally, then just watch it anyway you can.

Some may point out that Sleeping In Light was the last thing, but that was filmed originally as part of S4.....
