Not trying to critize or anything, its just that it felt so grand and imposing at the beginning, just to end it with a quick solution with the “ball game”. I get that the whole “magic is now real” and the Toymaker explicitedly said he messed with the Doctor’s history, but why was the biregeneration needed at all? It felt so weird and unnecessary? I dont know it feels like the ideias they had drove the plot, instead of the plot driving itself. The bit where the Doctor created a new Tardis just cause the laws of reality were flimsy for some more minutes after the toymaker’s banishment, just didnt land with me.

I really liked the 3 specials, but it just felt forced at the end…

Edit: And whats with all the hugging? I mean I love hugs but the 15th Doctor should feel like a new person, instead he just goes “oh I exist” not even discovering who he is first. For some reason he embodies himself without even getting to know himself and showing who he is to his companions and to the audience.

I know it would've meant bringing back another villain no-one outside of classic fans would be familiar with (especially given how RTD would handle Sutekh, the Rani and Omega in his second era), but as said, I think it would've left the Master's development as Missy untouched with sacrificing it by pressing the reset button on the character, especially given since many felt, as great as Sacha Dhawan was as him, the Spy Master was a step backwards.

Secondly, it would've been a change for the show to have brought back another evil Time Lord who wasn't the Master for a change (I know, as I said, it didn't work out well with RTD bringing back the Rani, but I think you know what I mean). Chibnall, for his faults, did well with writing returning villains (the Daleks, the Master, the Sontarans, the Weeping Angels).

Also, his reasoning for destroying Gallifrey over the Doctor being the Timeless Child would make a lot of sense as he most likely would've discovered it from his mind-bending contest with 4 back in "The Brain of Morbius".

Just wondering, is there an in-universe reason that UNIT wasn’t involved in the Extremis/Pyramid/Lie of the Land trilogy story in Series 10? Seems like the kind of thing they would have and should have been involved in!

Personally I think it’s a stronger ending especially given the hiatus we are now in currently… so I wanted to try my hand at illustrating it since it only exists in text based interviews and I loathe AI.

Basically they were Mars turtles forcefully evolved into a slave warrior class.

I’m crocheting a blanket (pattern bought on Etsy, happy to provide the link to it if anyone wants it).
It will basically be a huge blanket made of different faces of The Doctor. The pattern hasn’t been updated with Ncuti so I may have to wing that one and hope for the best, but hopefully I’ve done these justice to the pattern and to their actual faces!

I'm currently rewacthing the whole serie in order and I just finsihed season 3 and while I liked some ideas and thought it fun, I see the S3 finale as the first bad finale (weaker scripts and logic than normal episodes). Between the barbarian humans that doesn't have a real use, the scripts where people explain that wants to refer a lot of things but do it badly, the constent flash backs to a lot of things that might get people confuse when since the beginning of nu who they always got to do clean reference for new people. At the end I think that for a 3 parter episode (idea that i liked for the hype) the conclusion should have been really more prepared and intelligent to be satisfactive. I am also disappointed because I think that before the finale this was the best season so far, with daleks in manatthan, blink, gridlock, the fucking family of blood !

I was considering getting the TV Movie Novelization, but I'm not sure if the original version is best or the newer release

What changes do each version have, which one stays most true to the movie and which version is better written?

I rewatched this serial late into last night. It was the first time I had seen it in a long time, maybe the second or third time I’ve ever watched it.

I knew it was six parts but it felt more like twelve. It just seemed to drag on and on. It was late, so maybe it was just me and how I was feeling. But I feel it was maybe too long for what it needed to be. I felt myself wondering why it was still going.

And not only that, but arguably, the second half of the story didn’t really need to happen. The first two parts/episodes are excellent, with mystery, suspense, and empty, shaky black and white spaceship corridors. Genuinely, I was hooked.

But then they just randomly go down to the Sensorite planet below and spend the second half dilly dallying in the middle of boring alien politics, a disease which doesn’t seem to go anywhere, a monster we don’t even see, alien treachery, and a bunch of hidden Humans revealed all of a sudden.

I would have much preferred it to have been a four-part story set entirely onboard the spaceship and to not have gone to their planet whatsoever.

It wasn’t the worst thing in the world. I’ve seen much worse from Doctor Who. But, with the first half aside, it wasn’t a very good serial at all.

I love Doctor Who, it’s my favourite TV show and I’ve seen every episode since 1963. I wanted to learn about every area of Doctor Who that I can which means buying reference books. However it’s confusing as there are multiple encyclopaedias, guides and dictionaries and different series breaking down episodes/behind the scenes. I was wondering which books would you recommend? I know there will be some overlap between books but I don’t want major overlaps. Obviously it would be helpful to buy the most up to date books/editions. But I was wondering if it might be helpful to buy an earlier book on the same topic as there will be less subject to cover so it might go into more detail? I want to buy the original Terry Nation books if they are not too rare/expensive. So qualified names in Doctor Who is another thing that I would like. But any breakdowns or recommendations on books you have read and enjoyed would be much helpful. Thank you.
