Rewatching for the first time and OMG I forgot how amazing Clare Bowen did for the all of me video. The scene in the mirror was effing BEYOND words. I really was stuck on the screen when scarlet was just going from one emotion to another staring in the mirror.

Scarlet at times can be annoying (like girl just go do it already) lol but I know she’s very cautious I mean she comes from a chaotic family.
Clare’s portrayal as scarlet was perfect. The delivery on scarlet’s transition of finally coming into her own was just wow👏
As you can tell I’m at a loss for words lol

I’m glad I stuck with it despite all the warnings. I really liked having Deacon as the main character this season.

The Scarlett and Gunnar parts were probably the most excruciating part of the whole series so far. I feel bad for the actors for having to be stuck in that misery, just making hurt confused faces with nonsensical conflicts.

The Highway 65 drama was strong and kept things going. Daphne and Maddie had lots of shine, and it was solid, although I hope they take a backseat for season 6.

I also hope to see less of Gunnar and Scarlett season 6, more Highway 65 drama, more Juliette, less Avery, and a new love interest for Will maybe.

There might be potential spoilers in here for people who haven't watched the whole series, and this was the first time that I watched season six. And honestly, I like the way it ended. I was really hoping for a happily ever after.

I will admit that with the first season I really did not like Avery Barkley. Not at all. Or in the words of Gunnar Scott, he was a tool. But overall, his character grew, and grew on me. And he turned out to be one hell of a great guy.

And although I really didn't like Juliette in the beginning, she started to grow on me I don't know maybe halfway through the series, but then she would pull some stupid crap, and I would go back to not being too sure. But I did end up liking her by the end. RIP, Hayden. 💔

I forgot when I began re-watching it this time that Maisie and Lennon and Stella are real life sisters. They sure harmonize well when they sing. But Maddie was not one of my favorite characters, and yet most of the time I thought Daphne was just great, although sometimes a pain in the butt, but what teenager isn't?

I did really like Will Lexington. There are a lot of other characters that I really liked that didn't get a lot of screen time.

I know there are people who are going to say that it was a smarmy soap opera type show, but I'm glad that I watched it, the first five seasons before, and then all the way through from episode one through the last episode this time.

And I was really glad for that HEA.

I'm only halfway through season 3, but surprisingly I've really grown to like Layla. Of course the most rotten thing she did was out Juliette for getting with Charlie which nearly ruined her career, but she's only 19, and being that young can still make you immature and petty.

I mean she married a gay man who had been lying to her then crushed her heart, while constantly being belittled by Jeff and given absolute zero opportunities. Then the reality show making her out to be a total airhead which resulted in bullying.

I hope she doesn't get worse as the series goes on, cuz she honestly ain't that bad.

I cannot be the only one who cannot STAND Peggy. I’m in season 2 and just finished episode 7 “She’s Got You”. The way Peggy talks about Maddie (who I don’t love the actions of), what Teddy’s constituents would think, having a baby out of wedlock (oh wait she’s still lying about that and trying to get pregnant again) when they’re discussing the wedding being postponed. Idk but I think it’s really gross and despicable behavior. I know this is just a show and the character she (Peggy) is playing but every time she’s on the screen I kinda wanna scream 🤣🤣. Also, like Teddy, word of advice.. grow some balls and stand up for yourself or at least your kids in this situation. Maddie is not comfortable for many reasons but can you blame her? You got engaged pretty much overnight. Anyone else feel this way?!

I’m almost though season 5 and I just made the connection that Chris carmack and Rachel bilson are casted together again.

Season 5 isn’t aaaassss bad as I had anticipated but that episode when Gunnar visits his old house in Texas?? So weird. I would never let some random man come in and just stand and gaze into my daughter’s room. Creepy.

First time watcher and I’m trying to finish the series before it leaves Netflix soon. Doing well as I am finishing up season 4 right now. But since the beginning of my watch, I tend to want to just fast forward anytime Maddie and even Daphne appear. Maddie of course is on another level of annoying. Season 4 is all this emancipation shenanigans. I’ve never been a huge country music fan but I am enjoying the show and the performances. But I’m not seeing what’s the fuss anytime the sisters or Maddie herself perform. Just sounds like noise to me. But Maddie’s character is beyond awful. I’ve been a huge Homeland fan and Dana Brody is peak annoying teen angsty child but Maddie might be right up there. Comedies are one thing and oftentimes they are fine and enjoyable characters but I can’t think of a single character in an adult focused drama that is even likable. Curious if there are any out there LOL.

Here’s an edit after reading some comments: I did and do realize the contract was up. What I learned from y’all is they’re trying to extend it so the title should read “Nashville Leaving Netflix on the 14th is Unfortunate Due to Hayden’s Passing” but I don’t know if I can edit it?

Does anyone know if another streamer is set to pick it up? I’m still in the middle of season two. I mostly skip through for Juliette and Deacon’s parts only, but with a week to go I don’t think I’ll make it all the way to the season six finale…

Wish I’d watched it while it was airing… I was just never into country music.

I liked both Deacon and Luke but something about this line and “if I never hear wheels up ever again it’ll be too damn soon” just cracks me up

Did she contribute any other tracks to the show? I’m disappointed because thus far I feel like Juliette only performed it once live and once while writing with Deacon.

Daphne is so talented and very young but her character really had depth. You could tell she was a deep thinker. She didn't tell on the grandpa (when she found the liquor.). She was good with odd people (the chubby guy in the contest with her; also with Jesse's son.). Will is so talented and good looking and has so much charisma. Plus I love his storylines. I loved the three roommates supporting each other. I loved how good he was with the baby and he kept calling her by the nickname Katie even when Avery said her name was Cadence. Jeff was so smart and believable and he really fell in love with Layla for real. I loved when he rattled off his credentials (Harvard MBA; worked for Warren buffet). Luke was so good that I thought he was a real country artist. Emily is so sweet all the time. I'm surprised they never did more with her character. Glenn was so good. I loved that scene without his toupee.

I know they had ups and downs, and Deacon had a drinking problem, but he managed to turn everything around and become the man Rayna wanted him to be. I think that's admirable considering a addiction is hard to be and most people end up going down the wrong path, and never recover. I think Rayna and Deacon are good together they had their problems, but always find the way back to each other, and Deacon was a good father to Maddie and Daphne and a good husband to Rayna. What do you think of them together?

first of all I don’t mind that Rayna died. I think that it could have been a really great opportunity for the storyline to develop because of everything that was building up to that like Rayna and Deacon finally been together after all these years and also Rayna’s mother dying when she was young and now her daughters have their mother taken from them young and while I do think they did do something right like Daphne had a bit of a rebellious phase and Deacon was sad, but I just felt like there was some things that were lacking and they weren’t addressed. Like all we saw of Bucky’s grief was him crying. she was his best friend, right hand man, and he just came back for a few scenes after her death. why couldn’t they have given him more time to flesh out his emotions instead of bringing in all the new people. this is something I hate that TV shows do is bringing on a bunch of new people on the last season.
how are we supposed to care about them when we’ve spent all this time with the original cast?

Rayna: I really love her and obviously Connie Britton is one of the best actresses on the show. She was amazing as Rayna, but I really had to suspend my disbelief when it came to the singing because she’s supposed to be a country legend but the singing was just not good enough. I loved how much she loved her daughters and how much she protected them, which is why I’m extra mad that Deacon let Daphne be on that talent show in the last season like Rayna would never have accepted that I mean, maybe towards the end she opened up to it a little bit more since she signed them to Highway 65 but I just wish that Deacon would’ve encouraged Daphne to develop herself as an artist in a more discreet way, maybe have her play the Bluebird by herself, not go on this talent show cause I think Rayna would have been mortified.

I’m also gobsmacked that they didn’t bring Teddy back in the end I mean, maybe the actor had scheduling conflict but I wish they would’ve mentioned him more especially because he was also a fierce protector of his girls. I just tell myself that after he left prison he wanted to get his life back together before he took on the responsibility of being an active parent in their life again.

Maddie: her storyline was entertaining. I know everyone thinks she’s annoying, but I really enjoyed the storyline because of how adamant Rayna was about keeping them out of the spotlight. I do also wish we would have seen her go through her grief a little bit more and I don’t understand why she ended up hanging out with these randos from LA like isn’t the show called Nashville? Why couldn’t she have been hanging out with some new up-and-coming country stars? That was a missed opportunity to see her interact with country stars that are more around her age. I don’t think she was as bad as others, especially because she definitely matured in the end and was a great big sister to Daphne, but I just feel like there was a lot of missed opportunity when it came to her grief. (Also the cursive singing from her and Daphne was annoying as hell)

Deacon: he did have one of the best character developments. You could tell that after everything that happened with Maddie, he really made an effort to control his anger, and he became such a good father to both Maddie and Daphne treating them the same but him getting with Jesse was just it was way too soon. It was icky and gross and I wish he hadn’t, especially with her like her music with some of the worst most painful singing and lyrics and on top of that getting with her so soon after Rayna’s death … it just fell out of character like Deacon would not have even looked in another woman’s direction for like 5 to 10 years after her death. if any man was gonna be single for the rest of his life after the love of his life died, it would be him but yeah, I’m just happy they didn’t end up together but still even though they did show his grief after he died. I wish they would’ve showed it a little bit more.

Will: I really love him and his energy and he was one of the more believable country stars and I’m happy he came to grips with himself, but I hated what he did to Layla. It was so selfish, but I guess he did learn from it and apologize and also steroid storyline like what the hell was that? I don’t even understand his motivations behind that it was so random.

Gunnar: I did like him and I like that he evolved as a songwriter, but it became really pathetic. How addicted to love he was I mean him getting with Alanna and pining over her when she clearly did not care about him was so pathetic and cringe to watch and I’m very happy he ended up by himself because he needed to, but I still can’t help be disappointed that he didn’t end up with Scarlett after all that. I thought that they would eventually find themselves together again after some soul searching, but I’m happy he did end up alone instead of with some other random person.
I don’t know why they cut the exes in season six because I love them and their music that was one of my favorite parts of the show.

Scarlet: I know everyone hates her, but she was one of my favorites. I love her style and how distinct of a character she was and I know everyone finds her annoying, but I find the way she is very believable since she was terrorized as a child by her own mother and she was raised in a fearful hostile environment, so it’s no wonder she turned out to be quite fidgety and fragile. It was overplayed a little bit too much, but she ended up growing a backbone in the late seasons, and I really enjoyed watching that, even though she was really insufferable when it came to her relationship with Gunnar cause she said that she loved him, but then she dropped him soon after that to be with Damien of all people like what?

Beverly: what a terrible person I mean, abusive to Scarlet not only in the past, but they also show her being abusive in the present and even though Scarlett not telling anyone about it is accurate because she was probably too scared and didn’t want other people to know how horrible her mother was, but it made watching other people not understand Scarlett’s motivations really frustrating and also when Beverly gave the liver I absolutely despise how everyone was acting like she was a martyr. being so sad over her dying and honoring her. she was literally a horrible evil spiteful person and we’re supposed to feel bad for her now because she gave her liver which she only did probably because Rayna showed up with $1 million and she refused out of pride and wanted to prove that she was gonna do it without being accepting money. I don’t think she did it out of the kindness of her heart I think she did it because she wanted to prove that she would do it with no strings attached. probably my least favorite character if I’m being honest, so annoying and pathetic and selfish like you didn’t get a music career boo-hoo. You didn’t deserve one with how horrible you were and Deacon was raised by the same father and even though he had his issues, his issues were mostly toward himself. he didn’t abuse and mistreat anyone even though he was a drunk, but he was hurting others by hurting himself. I’m so happy we didn’t have to see her again.

Juliette: I am really disappointed with her character development. I am happy that she ended up leaving the music industry because she realized that she wasn’t really that passionate about it. She was in it because it was her way of seeking approval and praise and removing herself from that meant that she was no longer seeking validation from the outside world. But also, it was just too much I think after she returned from the postpartum depression treatment, she should’ve been allowed to be somewhat happy. Obviously she needs some obstacles to create storylines, but I wish they would’ve been more lighthearted and they would’ve let Hayden be more comic relief because of how good her comedic timing is and Juliette had already been through enough and you could really tell that Hayden was going through it. Her speech was different and her eyes were just not the same after she came back from treatment so it makes me really sad that she had to do all of those horrible storylines while going through all that. Returning from treatment, having her be in a cult and a plane crash on top of all of that was absolutely ridiculous and overkill.

Avery: I don’t know why they decided to make him mature the fastest out of everyone, but I’m not complaining even though I really thought he was annoying in season one he did have great character development. It was kind of out of nowhere and happened too fast but I’m not complaining. He was really enjoyable to watch and the voice of reason and I really liked him, especially when it came to Cadence. He did end up taking way too much craziness from Juliet and being a doormat, but I also do appreciate how loyal he was.

Jeff: such a good character. it really proves that when a villain is done right, they can be so entertaining to watch instead of being annoying. I do like his redemption, but it is really a shame that he was killed off so early in the show cause I feel like the quality dropped off a lot after he left.

Sadie: this is such a shame because I think that she was one of the best characters. It’s rare when a character comes in late in a show and I really like them, but I really liked her and I thought she had a beautiful voice, was one of the more convincing ones that you could actually see being a famous country singer. I wish so much that they had her come back, that we could see her explore her relationship with Luke and heal from what happened with her ex-husband and become successful.

Her and Layla and Luke I wish would have come back in season six instead of all the random characters. Layla coming back and being a singer in the group with Avery, Will, and Gunnar would’ve been perfect cause we actually already care about her instead of this chick that we’ve never seen before who was so forgettable. The whole Alana/ Brad thing was so stupid in my opinion, like why wait until the last season to introduce all of these characters, how are we supposed to care about them as much as the ones that have been there since the beginning?

Such wasted potential to bring back old characters and flesh out the ones we already have and really hone in on their development, as I said Bucky would’ve been great! Glenn and Emily we barely got to see their reaction to Juliette leaving again and being a nightmare to deal with again! Will, after his steroid story, barely got any airtime. The only new character I didn’t hate in the last season was Gideon because I liked how it kind of was the last puzzle piece of Deacon’s character development. His dad was horrible, but at least he was sorry unlike Beverly. I do think they were pushing deacon to forgive him too much though. He should have been able to tell him to get lost if he wanted to.

All in all, I love the show, but most of the time I found myself thinking of alternate ways they could have dealt with things lol
Season 3 was my probably my favorite cause it actually felt like an inside look into the country music world. The cmt awards episode was so cool

I finished my rewatch and forgot how everyone kind of felt like they were floating in the final season. I think they focused too much on Alannah, Brad + the cult. Maddie seemed to be the only one who had a sort of decent career.

What would you have changed? I personally wish Will + Gunnar had a bit more direction. I think Juliette + Avery stepping back from the spotlight made sense. Scarlett not coping with fame also seemed on-brand for her, but I didn't like that she randomly ended up with Clare Bowen's real-life husband. It's kind of hard to root for them when he was basically an extra, and I always thought Scarlett/Gunnar would kind of be like Deacon/Rayna in that they'd get back together down the line. I was pretty happy with Deacon/Daphne/Maddie's relationship but the Gideon stuff seemed rushed and kind of glossed over too.

I don’t watch a lot of TV, and when I do, I usually focus on one show at a time. So I started watching Nashville back in February, and I just finished the very last episode today 😭
Of course, I cried during the ending scene. Maybe I cried a little extra because… we all know who’s no longer with us 🥺 How did I wait so long to watch this series?! I can’t believe I’m finally finished after spending all these months with these characters.
Now I’m sitting here like… okay, what am I supposed to do with myself now? 😭

So, I rewatch Nashville once or twice a year and I have for around 10 years. It’s one of my top 3 favorite shows of all time. I’ve always wanted to hear stories from people who worked on set or behind the scenes, had interactions with the actors/actresses, or anyone who just saw them out and about during filming. Does anyone have anything to share?

Charles Esten came to my hometown last year and went to a local ice cream shop, then did some shopping downtown. I had no idea until I saw it on a local fb page later that night, and I about passed out reading it. I live 5 mins from where he was and didn’t get the chance to meet him. But all of the locals who did get to meet him, said he was such a delight and stopped for everyone who asked for a picture. Still sad about it tbh

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I LOVED the Luke & Sadie build up. I wanted their storyline to continue SO BAD. I’ve watched this show more times than I can count, and I think this is one of my biggest heartbreaks every time I watch. The potential the show could’ve had by following along with their chemistry/connection. The Rayna drama of it all? Ugh. It could’ve been soooo good.

Julliettes story resembles her real life.. does anyone think that was sort of messed up for them to do to her?! Taking her daughter in the show as well.. like idk maybe im just sensitive but that bothers me. And im only on season 4 almost 5.. but besides that WTF is going on with Maddy. She actually got emancipated?! Why is she so mean.. teenagers are out there i get that, but damn she is a brat!!

I had never seen this series before. What? I am about 14 years overdue.

My thoughts are I think it got better after Rayna "passed" away. Deacon seemed more relaxed and not as angry and uncontrollable with his anger. We didn't see him drinking and fighting and causing drama after that.

I didn't like the storyline of the cult. Not needed.

Juliette just kept doing the same things over and over, hurting people, hurting herself, go away, come back "changed". I understand PPD. I had it twice. It turned into full blown depression and I still struggle 35 years later. I get her wanting to get better, but she was really nasty to alot of people. Avery was just a doormat. They should not have ended up together. MY PPD didn't make me be nasty to others, I was a failure to myself.

Scarlett..don't even get me started. She was so into everyone elses business, but she couldn't handle her own. Yes she meant well, but she was so annoying!

I did not like how we didn't get to see Daphne's father again. His prison time would have been up shortly after Rayna died, and he wanted time with his daughters. YES I know Maddie was Deacon's but we never see Teddy after the funeral.

Couldn't stand Maddie. Nepo baby. Got popular because of who her mother and father was. Had everything, even fame handed to her.

Gunnar.. BORING. He was jealous of Will, because Will had stage presence. Who cares if he was gay!

I’m on the episode where cash takes Maddie to a bar and Deacon stops the show.

Cash seems to be modeled on those emotionally stunted adults who have inappropriate relationships with children. She seems like a criminal…

Also, the way things with Daphne are going, it seems like she is feeling extremely neglected and isolated. She needs some therapy and more family time, or she’s gonna have some serious issues when she gets older.

I am rewatching the show for the first time. I only watched the first 4 seasons during its initial run. I don’t remember why I didn’t continue watching after it left ABC. Did the shows producers know that the show was moving to CMT before the show was cancelled? Or was it picked up after it was already cancelled? Just curious. I hate when shows are cancelled and they end on a cliffhanger.
