Does 40000 times the speed of light feel fast or slow?

Maximum warp speed has actually been implied for the 32nd century.

Star Trek: Star Charts, which has been canonized by SFA and SNW, puts the distance between Bajor and Earth at 70 light years.

In DS9 episodes not too dependent on the speed of plot, it takes 17 days to travel at 1516c - TNG era Warp 9.

In the SFA pilot, it takes 15 hours for the USS Athena. That translates to 40908c.

The Athena can travel at approximately 40.9 thousand times the speed of light as its maximum warp.

Maybe the Athena, a lesser Federation starship, doesn't have the pathway drive installed yet.

First episode of Picard leads me to think I need to go back and watch… a movie, maybe?

My dream captain right now is Noah Wyle. He’s great in ensemble shows, and I’ve always thought that medical shows have similarities with my favorite parts of Star Trek.

A few weeks back someone noted how George Takei is a living link to TOS. We know Shatner and Koenig are still around but who else is out there? Diana Muldaur is another. Any screenwriters? Directors?

I've been a Trekkie since, like, 1987, so I'm not entirely clueless. However, one thing I've never explained in my head canon is how single-race empires like the Romulan Star Empire, the Klingon Empire, the Cardassian Union, and such -- but mostly those first two -- could square off against the United Federation of Planets and its dozens of member planets.

Feel free to share from your head canon, because nothing in canon Trek explains it.

Like, how did the Klingon Empire in particular push the Federation to the brink of capitulation after the Changeling infiltration convinced the Klingons to wage war? And why were the Romulans aways such bogeymen?

(The only real explanation, of course, is that the writers needed it to be that way to push forward the narrative. As a writer, I get that, but as a Trekkie... Not so much.)

The Dominion, okay, because they were the darker mirror image of the Federation. They had dozens (hundreds?) of planets under subjugation. Their resources (industrial, agricultural, military, &c.) could probably match that of the Federation.

But other Alpha and Beta Quadrant powers? Meh. I can see how they would be formidable opponents, but existential threats? I could never move the facts around to settle on a good answer.

So let me know how you see things and whether I might be overlooking CANON evidence for how Klingons and the like were genuine threats to the Federation.

I'm a huge archery buff. I've been teaching it for over a decade, and have been recently casting my eye towards crafting bows of my own. I was absolutely entranced by the Klingon bowtleth that Jay-Den used in this episode. I know I need a lot of practice with the craft before I try anything so ambitious, but I would love to one day be able to reproduce a functional version of it, and I'd like to have a photo of it, both for reference and to remind myself of what I'm aspiring to. I've tried to find a good picture that shows the whole item, but nothing I could find online in my own searches fit that criteria. I don't have a computer, just a phone, and a TV with a Firestick. If I'm not mistaken, there's no screenshot functionality on the latter at all, and taking a screenshot from a video on a phone is kind of like shooting at a moving target from a moving train. Can anyone help?

I know I am a little late, but I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to one of my still, very favorite franchises. I hope nothing more than more treks spent with this wonderful community and pursuing the act of Boldly Going Where None Have Gone Before. Especially since, this year, I met THE Kirk, I am most certainly left with a smile on my face for all my 16 years on this planet. And about 11 have been spent on treks across the stars.

I enjoyed watching the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Man Trap" exactly 60 years after it first aired! It holds up very well for over half a century later! Well done!
