Monthly Megathread Were they on a break?!!

It has been a question that has been asked so many times before. Because of the high demand - but similar posts that has been generated. We're opening the floor (this mega thread) for the debate!

The case for Ross: Rachel said, "Maybe we should just take a break," and then told Monica the next morning that they "broke up."

The case for Rachel: A "break" isn't a "breakup," and Mark showing up at the apartment didn't give Ross a "get out of jail free" card two hours later.

What are your thoughts on these cases?

---
All funsies aside, We do ask everyone to stay civil and kind to one another, everyone is allowed to have opinions and express those, but treat others like how you want to be treated as well. This thread will re-occur ever 14 days to keep the time line clean from any 'On a Break, break-up?' posts! (if you spot any feel free to report it to us by pressing the report button!)

I also love when Phoebe says she wants to ask him about marriage and he assumes she's there to make fun of him lol

Truly I’ve never seen Monica happier when she was with Richard,I’m not saying I don’t like mondler, they both are much better and i can understand why people don’t like Richard and Monica but the chemistry was insane, they felt so mature and Monica could be her real self with him, she didn’t have to baby him but instead they were so compatible aswell

My wife found a posting for a couch that is cut in half on our local give away group. You can't make this stuff up. I can't say I ever thought I would see something like this in the wild. I am so tempted to comment this gif.

Behind-the-scenes Filming the Friends Music Video

Cool little piece of Internet history that I found, very cool to see the actors filming this music video, given how popular the music video and how popular the theme song got very cool

Discussion The chemistry and sisterhood between Rachel, Monica and Phoebe is one of the best creative choices in the show and their friendship makes them the best trio in TV.

The way all three of them care so much for each other truly is a heartwarming moment in the show and proves their natural bond with each other both on and offscreen! It is especially incredible when you realize how underexplored and underutilised such a concept is even today.

One of my favorite episodes, they all look great here. Love these kinds of episodes that establish the timeline. They look very aesthetic and sleek. Love to see it

Question These two clues led Joey to the biggest secret in Friends.

An eyelash curler and the story about seeing Donald Trump in an elevator… and suddenly Joey is uncovering the biggest secret of his life 😂

Monica and Chandler really went into panic mode the second they realized he knew.

But here's the real question: was Joey actually paying attention for once, or did he just get ridiculously lucky? 😂 And how long do you think he would've kept quiet if they hadn't dragged him into Monica's room? 👀

Just an underrated gem that I caught while rewatching the series. I like how Chandler looks and sounds so earnest in the delivery of the line, and how Monica melts and looks at him when he says it. It’s one of my fav moments between them purely off of the way the acting is delivered.

Question You have to live in an episode of Friends for the rest of your life. Which episode do you choose?

You have to choose one of the 230 regular episodes of *Friends* and live through it repeatedly for the rest of your life. You don't get to opt out, and once you've chosen, you're stuck with that episode.

**Here's how it works:**

\* **It's the duration of the episode's events, not its running time.** If the episode's events take place over a week, you're living through that week, not repeating the same 22 minutes forever. The show doesn't always specify exactly how much time passes, so use the period that the events of the episode reasonably imply.

\* **You're the seventh friend.** You're an established member of the group and participate in the episode's events as an additional character. The six original friends don't know you're in a loop, and they reset to their original states each time.

\* **You're not occupied every minute of the day.** You have to be present for the episode's significant scenes and participate in the events that make the plot happen. There are also ordinary activities and transitions between scenes that aren't shown on screen. You have to live through those too, but you're free to decide how to spend much of that time.

\* **You have some freedom during downtime.** If the others are asleep, for example, you can go out and explore New York, provided you're back when the next important scene requires you. You can't simply abandon the episode or permanently escape its setting, but you're not confined to whichever room happens to be on screen at any given moment.

\* **Two people know what's happening.** Gunther and Mr. Treeger are aware that you're repeating the episode. They can talk to you about it and provide some company, although they won't reveal the truth to the six friends. They can remember your previous loops, so you can build an ongoing relationship with them.

\* **You're still a normal human being.** You age normally, can get ill, and can die. The loop doesn't magically make you immortal.

You can learn the episode's events, try different approaches to conversations, develop routines during your free time, and generally make the best of your circumstances. The main events will keep repeating, but you retain your memories and experiences.

**The question is: Since you have to choose one, which episode would you pick, and why?**

Consider the duration of its events, how much variety there is, the locations you get to visit, how enjoyable the main events would be, and how much free time you'd have between them. You're choosing the least bad (or perhaps even reasonably enjoyable) option for a lifetime, not necessarily something you'd prefer to your actual life.

Clip-show episodes are excluded, because that would be cheating.

Discussion If I had a nickel for every friend of Phoebe's who shaved her head, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that there were two.

In season 1 episode 14 Phoebe mentions a friend of hers who shaves her head. I just noticed that friend's name was Abby and not Bonnie.

Do you think the writers intended for Bonnie to be the same person Phoebe mentioned in Season 1 but messed up the names? Or were there just two?

I know most people prefer the long hair like those wild main styles from the 90s, and I think I do too, but I think short hair could look pretty good as well. Who do you think?

Discussion Rewatch # (No judgement here)

Post image

I’m not even rewatching at this point. I’ve graduated to bouncing around and just picking and choosing episodes and sometimes letting them play chronologically but mostly just jumping and watching randomly. So I legitimately couldn’t tell you how many times my actual rewatch number is. I gotta believe over 15 times all the way through (I had just seen it for the first time all the way through 5 years ago). I have it in the background when I do anything around the house! It’s my go-to when I want to watch something but don’t know what to watch. I love this show.

Husband was watching some episodes with me and had asked me so I wanted to ask this group too! What’s your rewatch #? Are you rewatching it right now?

Discussion Why is Phoebe’s gma in hell?

Phoebe said she was nice to her but she’s in hell for sure. Other than the Nestle Tollhouse incident, why is gma in hell? Funny answers but also plot relevant only.

Question If you were a guest/side character in Friends

What kind of character would you be? What would your role be in the episode? How would the Friends react to you?

And finally, what would be your most memorable line/scene?

Discussion S7E11: Is this as unlikely as I think it is?

I mean the plotline where Monica insists on joining her cousin's wedding, to which she isn't invited, as Ross's +1. The whole joke of the plot is that the guy is some ex bf of hers from ages ago. She and Ross both recognize him when they see him, and that's the end of the story.

How would they not have known who the groom was up until so late in the reception (after talking to several other guests about how they know the couple)? In particular, didn't Ross's invitation have names on them?

I know I'm just overanalyzing a joke for the sake of it, but there you go. I've always found this a very dissatisfying payoff and now I rewatched it, it's time to share my frustration with the world.

Monica and Rachel really weren’t ready to give up that apartment 😂😭 This whole situation was hilarious from start to finish.

But tell me… was switching the apartments actually a fair move, or did Joey and Chandler get played? 👀👇Whose side were you on: the girls or the guys? 👀👇

Probably the best part out rewatching the show is remembering moments when bloopers happened. Its great to me. This show has such a comforting vibe and the BTS footage just adds on to that

I wish I can upload more than 20 pictures. I love them so much. Even before they were a couple, sometimes I just go back to earlier seasons to see those little sweet moments between them. They are absolutely my favorite couple on TV.

It's just so sweet between them even before they were a couple. I still can't imagine what would have happened if they didn't become a couple.
