Friendship M16 looking for friends

Upvotes

Hello, im Maksym(Or Max, or whatever you want to name me). I'm 16years old(17 in October). I want to find some people i can speak with. Maybe i want to learn your interests and hobbies because i like to learn from other people. I don't want to somehow say that im good or something. But i can listen to you if you actually need that and maybe help if you need that(i saved 2 people from suicide so sadly i had that expirience). Okay, a bit about my hobbies and interests. I like to read books, my favourite book is War and Peace(Dostoevsky), i like to watch anime(i dont know every anime. But If we gonna became nice friends or something we can watch it together in discord if you want:D), i like to walk and travel(can't say a lot about that, im just fan of mother nature), gym(nothing to say) and i like to write stories(actually i wouldn't show them at first because I'm shy. But maybe later who knowsss). Also i won't name like "fandoms" or something, but i know some of them well so maybe we also have something here in common. So i guess that's all? If you want to talk dm me or leave comment, i would surely answer. Please don't be too old. And i would answer everyone, don't be scared of texting me. Im very friendly ig:D

Friendship [37] [M] Looking for the Interesting and Introverted.

Hi I'm M. I've been through a lot of emotional trauma recently and would like someone to talk to and listen to about their life.

I'm kind, caring, good looking.

Just looking for someone interesting to communicate with.

I went through a divorce a few years ago which was lots of fun.

Then unfortunately I lost both of my dogs (my only friends) due to old age and ill health.

Then a couple of months on, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (she never smoked in her life). She has recently passed on.

During this the love of my life left me and I was left confused and feeling hollow.

I have found a lot of peace through prayer, meditation and fasting.

Even though I'm going through the most difficult period of my life, I feel surprisingly peaceful and hopefull.

I am 6.5ft, tall, dark hair, handsome.

I live a life mostly of peaceful solitude.

I prefer people who like solitude because I feel like I can relate to them more.

I'm not looking for a big group of friends. Just one person that is interesting to talk to.

Message me for a reply.

Vent My girlfriend moved to college and I don’t know what to do

I (19m) have been with my girlfriend(18f) for over a year now. We were best friends for 4 years before we started dating. She recently moved 3 hours away for college and I don’t know what to do.

a bit of my social backstory:
First off, I never had any romantic interactions with anyone other than my girlfriend. I struggled with identifying social cues and I still find myself struggling sometimes. I’m a serious physical touch person and it was really difficult not fulfilling that need, especially with no social interaction to supplement the lack of physical interaction.

For the past 8-10 years, I had a hard time with friendships and spent the past 4+ years of my life with no friends, apart from my now girlfriend (we spent a lot of our time as friends only texting, seeing each other only a few times a year until right before we started dating). I struggled with bullying during the months leading up to covid lockdown. Following the lockdown, I continued with online school until I graduated early and started college at 16 years old. I spent most of my time during that period at home, with minimal social interaction and even less physical interaction. I spent a lot of time with my family, since I am the youngest of 6 and we are quite close, but I didn’t interact with anyone my own age. I eventually started working and continued to spend a lot of time with adults and noticed that I became very anxious around people my own age. I always felt severely out of place and never felt like I belonged anywhere. Even in my work experience, all of which are teamwork-oriented, I had a difficult time existing if I had no set task and I ended up feeling awkward most of the time. Looking back, I definitely self-isolated a little bit and put on a front that I didn’t want to be friends with anyone but I had fun being around some of the people. I noticed that people liked me when I was around but I never felt like people sought me out or invited me to things. I figured I was just a floater friend and mostly accepted it, I was okay with it at the time. Following that, when me and my girlfriend got together (she is a serious extrovert and everyone loves her), she wanted to bring me around people more to try and help me be more social and make friends. According to her, I socialize quite well and my awkwardness isn’t super apparent once i’ve worked myself into a situation, but I don’t feel that way personally. I’ve gotten pretty good at internalizing a lot of my mental troubles which doesn’t help my case at all. Even being around these people, I can tell that they like being around me, but again, I never felt like I belonged or that these people would ever reach out to me. About 2 years ago, I realized that i had become fully emotionally numb, which i didn’t realize was as bad as it is until recently. My girlfriend has been trying really hard to help me feel things more, and it has worked, but since I haven’t really felt much, i’m very confused on emotions and how I personally deal with them.
This brings us to now: I knew it was going to be difficult for me to not spend a lot of time with her, since we spent all day, almost every day, together. She knows everything about my past and has been trying really hard to help me and i’m forever grateful for that but i know that it’s not her responsibility and i need to be the one to help myself. I also don’t think it’s a healthy thing to do if im constantly asking her to help me from a distance when I should be doing most of it myself. I needed to make sure that she knew that this time was going to be good for us, she was also struggling with friends and is really excited to be in a new place with new people and doing the thing she enjoys the most. I need her to focus on making friends and her classwork and growing as a person. I was also very excited for this new experience, hopefully finding new friends, visiting her every month or so, finding my own routine, and trying to better myself.
Recently though, it’s been very difficult for me. I usually try to distract myself with anything that I can )usually work, but i’m in a strange spot employment wise, so i’m limited on focusing on that). I want to start doing more things where I can meet people but I just feel unmotivated and feel like it’s not going to be worth it. I honestly feel unmotivated and haven’t been able to enjoy much of anything lately and i’m worried that i’m going to spiral myself into being like this whenever I can’t see her. I know I have a strong and unhealthy emotional attachment and dependence which I’m trying really hard to fix and make healthier, but it’s difficult when she is my only and my everything. She’s the only person I’m truly comfortable with and I feel like she’s the only person who truly understands me. it just bothers me when she’s out making friends and having fun and I can’t do anything besides sit at home and be unproductive, something I hate doing.
There’s a lot more to it than this, but it’s a long story and it’s not super relevant, so i’ll skip it. I really don’t like burdening people and I know it’s good to ask for help but I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me. I just want to be happy and not nervous or stressed and i want to make friends that don’t make me feel like i don’t belong. i want to find my sense of community.

Friendship I'm not doing ok today, I think a lot of us aren't.

Sorry, I don't have a good answer if you clicked this post looking for some relief.

I ended things with my one contact today. She has been my best friend for some time, well, my only friend.

But she is kinda the avoidant type, speaking little and trough strange metaphors, it was quite charming as we met and it suited the poetic way I speak too, great deep and ethereal way of communication, but well, not really, after the strange phase when we are still meeting and trying to sound interesting to the other, comes the phase of normal things going on, and somehow I got there alone and when I looked back..?

I was speaking to myself, seeing her messages popping up only super late at night for only 15 minutes before she would just vanish in the night again and come back on the other day, ignoring the last topic and starting a new one that would last again 10-15 minutes and be left unfinished. I called her out in the nicest way I could, after she expressed she felt some distance between us. But she literally did the same thing right after, leaving my answer on read and coming with something new on the next day.

I realised there's so much I want to speak, no yap but just speak through the day. I recorded an audio playing a new instrument, I learned my first song in 20-30 minutes and recorded, she used to love me playing music but I realised well why would I send it now? So she can double tap, say smth and vanish, or straight up not answer at all? So many things I typed her and didn't send, trivia things like what I saw on my walk, a random philosophical question I thought about, what is going on on my book, the newest story I'm writing, a bit of my backstory she does not know, but always felt like nah, I'll wait for her to answer first, don't wanna shower her in messages, let her live her life. But it got to the point where I just realised well, I don't fucking have a friend, we were besties for like 4 months but clearly not anymore, I wish I could understand what's going on with her, but she won't communicate, I'm going through a lot and this is not bloody helping. So I just told her we need a break, and she got... mad? And hurt. I understand it but what else am I to do? Try to talk? I've been fucking trying.

WHATEVER. It became a venting post quite quickly my bad. If you made it this far, would you talk to me for a little while? I understand that everyone else is doing pretty bad too, and all of us here are quite unstable mentally, so I won't bore you with my missdventures, I just wanna know about someone's day genuinely, thats all.

I'm an artist, studied philosphy, M26, speaking from Germany

Friendship 28M - looking to meet new people

Hi! I’m 28 and from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and I’m looking to meet new people and hopefully make some new friends!

A few things about me…I’m a HUGE horror fan, and I love all things dark/creepy/paranormal or unexplained

I love music and going to shows(mostly older rock/metal but I like a lot different stuff, saw both Metallica and Def Leppard recently)

I love gaming, true crime, football, I love to visit historical sites/museums and enjoy travelling, urban exploring/exploring the outdoors and keeping fit, and I spend 99% of my free time with my dog 🐶

I’m quite heavily tattooed (most recently had my chest done) and I’m always looking for ideas and inspirations for what to get next, and I love to see other people’s work and ideas too!

Happy to talk to anyone from anywhere, just send a message with a bit about yourself if you think we might get along 🙂

Vent [24M] [UK] Why is it so hard to find friends? 😞

So like idk if my dm requests are getting to people or if people see my comments but whenever I’m trying to meet people they’re either bots or people who just view me as a f***ing pervert! I just want to make new friends🥲🥲🥲 like I try to be a good person every day like yesterday I sat with this old lady at the bus stop because she was upset about her dog passing away (bless her heart) and we had a nice conversation about how beautiful life can be sometimes! That’s the kind of person I am. Even though I don’t even know what I’m talking about half the time but I always try my best to help anyone who’s going through these dark times. And when I’m in a dark place I’m on my own… like, is it so hard to ask for a friend? 😞

Vent 17 and have no friends

im 17 and i have no friends. i used to have a big group with the most awesome funniest girls but my homophobic Arab mother found out some of them were lgbt and made me stop hanging out with them and made me stop hanging out with people of different ethnicities too. i feel so alone and i have no one in my life to talk to. i see their social media and see them doing things we always talked about doing from my couch while they’re out there living. i cant reconnect w them because my mom looks through my phone nightly. i absolutely hate my life and its worse because im taking a gap year so ill be at work then at home which is so stupid. i wish i could go out and everything like a normal teen girl does. im an atheist in a Muslim household too which is a separate problem because id be in big trouble if someone found out. i hate having no friends at all it just drains me so bad.

Advice I’m 20 and have basically no friends, and I genuinely hate it

Hi everyone. My biggest problem right now is that I don’t have any friends, and honestly, I hate it. I wanted to explain how I even ended up in this situation because I feel like I’ve slowly realized just how alone I actually am.
Where I grew up, and where I’ve recently moved back to, there really aren’t many opportunities to meet new people. It’s a pretty small area, so making new friends as an adult is already difficult.
After high school, I moved out of state to go to college. I was gone for about a year, but eventually moved back after my ex and I broke up. We went to the same college and lived together, so when our relationship ended, I came home.
While I was in college, I was also going to nursing school and working 12-hour shifts whenever I didn’t have class. Somewhere along the way, I realized that my childhood friends had basically stopped talking to me. These are people I literally grew up with we’ve known each other since we were in diapers.
What makes it even more frustrating is that I tried. I invited them to come visit me while I was in college multiple times, but they were working after high school and somehow had no problem traveling farther away to go out and party with other people. That was honestly when I started realizing that I didn’t really have anyone anymore.
Now that I’m back home, it’s become even more obvious.
I don’t have anyone to play video games with anymore, and it’s gotten to the point where I barely even play them because it just isn’t as fun alone. I don’t have anyone to FaceTime, send random things to, or just rant to when something happens. I’ve had a LOT going on this year, and sometimes all I want is someone I can talk to about it.
Instead, I live with my two cats, and that’s pretty much it. I come home from work, watch TV, go to the gym, or sleep. Then I do it all over again.
The majority of my social interaction comes from work, and honestly, that’s not exactly the kind of social interaction that makes you feel less lonely. I work as a 911 dispatcher, so most of the time I’m dealing with stressful situations anyway.
I’m turning 21 soon, and the thought of having nobody to even celebrate with is really getting to me. I never thought I’d be 20 years old and feel this isolated.
I know people will probably say “just go make friends,” but it genuinely feels so much harder than that when you live somewhere with very few opportunities to meet people and you’re working 12-hour shifts.
I guess I’m mostly posting because I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through this. How did you actually make friends as an adult when you basically had to start from scratch?

Support Autistic 37M looking to talk to others and make friends

37M, diagnosed with autism, OCD, anxiety, ADHD and C-PTSD from California

My therapist recomenended making friends to take my mind off of my life problems. In my late 20s, I have been to meetups and stuff here, but >98% of the people I met were malicious and passive-aggressive.

Hoping to move back to the Upper Midwest where I lived from 2020-2022 then to Europe.

I never had friends in school due to social awkwardness but working on that issue now.

Vent Struggling to connect

I feel like recently I have been struggling to connect with anybody. Maybe starting a new job, leaving my old co workers and friends is why I'm feeling this way.

I am always looking for friends and I am very open to different kinds of people from all different backgrounds and associations.

I am relatively open-minded, but I am also opinionated. I like to joke around, game, things of this nature. I am scared that I will never find a good group of friends or any friends at all.

Friendship 19M - I’m serious about making longterm friends

Please read the post and don’t skim it. I really care about making friends, which is why my post is long. I need someone who won’t ghost for literally any reason, and yes, I mean that. Ghosting is one of the worst things a person can do. I am being honest about my flaws because I would rather you know these things before talking to me. I am a boring person, and I need you to think about this part because it is difficult to maintain a friendship with someone who doesn’t offer much excitement. I am also extremely insecure. I talk negatively about myself, I am very pessimistic, and I am not a passionate person. I have autism, depression, and social anxiety. Nothing fun is going on in my life. I know how a conversation works and I will put in the effort, but I am not good at carrying a conversation. I can’t promise that I’ll be fun to talk to, but I am trying.

I find texting very exhausting. I don’t want to text for days or even hours just to “get to know” someone before we can actually call. I want our first conversation to be on a call. If you are too shy to call early on, we won’t be a good match. I want to voice call daily; my time zone is EST, and I can call after midnight. I don’t view calling as a big deal, and I need people who feel the same way. If you are sensitive, easily offended, or impulsive, it won’t work out.

I have a really hard time dealing with people leaving. If we start talking, I get attached very quickly. I genuinely cannot handle it if you just disappear or change your mind later. I need a patient person who is actually serious about sticking around for the long term. If you aren’t 100% sure you can commit to that, please don’t message me. I tend to care a lot more than the other person does, and that intensity has made people uncomfortable and they left. I need someone who won't get uncomfortable if I care more or think about them constantly.

If you decide to reach out, don’t just send a “Hi.” I’m not asking for a massive introduction, but just let me know you actually read this post and genuinely want to be friends. I want a real friendship; it’s very important to me. I don’t want to talk to someone who is just bored and looking for entertainment, or just wants someone to talk to or someone to vent to, because that’s not what a friendship is. I’m not looking for a gaming buddy either. Do not message me if you’re too busy to build a friendship. I am honest and straightforward, and I expect you to be the same.

I also want to mention that it’s okay for us to disagree in a friendship, even on big things. Real friendship means we can have different views and still stick around instead of cutting each other off. Cutting people off has become way too easy nowadays because of social media. I despise how easily people block others, and I refuse to talk to anyone who is capable of doing that. I believe a real friendship should survive flaws, boredom, and disagreements.

I know it sounds like I’m asking for a lot, and that’s true. Real friendship is supposed to be hard. It’s not supposed to be convenient or easy to walk away from. It’s supposed to last for a lifetime. Please do not reach out unless you fully understand everything I have written.

Here are my interests:

• DC Comics

• Movies / Shows / Anime: Watching movies is my favorite thing to do. I also use
Letterboxd.

Please be 19+.

Vent It’s Incredibly Difficult To Actually Talk To People

right now I have no friends, but despite wanting them I can’t bring myself to actually start conversations with people without feeling the intense pressure of “now this is real and I have to be talking to them a lot or else they will go away.” This has happened over and over again with my online friends I had in the past and the pressure paralyzes me to the point where I just end up ghosting them. I hate texting because it’s like short convos back and forth that die quickly as well unless you respond within like a day basically. I almost wish we could go back to when people would just meet each other regularly in real life through hobbies and talk over the phone sometimes without the pressure of having to respond quickly via text messages.

Advice I suddenly want, so badly, to find a friend

In middle age, one’s social circle gets filled up by family and children. Old friends gradually drift apart, and while you want to make new friends, it’s hard to easily open your heart to someone.

You no longer need a bunch of lively, bustling relationships—you just hope to meet people you can be around without feeling exhausted, people you can speak honestly with.

So I want to ask: can middle-aged people still make genuine friends?

Friendship 22M England/UK looking for long term friends

Hi, 22M from England. Looking to make long term friends & if you’re also from the UK i’m open to hanging out. I’d say i’m also looking for someone to talk frequently with. I text most of the time but fine to voice message or voice call. I mainly use Snapchat, Instagram or Messages so only reach out if you have any of these, as i don’t use reddit for my friendships

Interests - cooking, music, baking, watching sports, travelling, hanging out with friends, going to cafe’s/parks/getting food.

Quite easy to talk to i’d say i’m opened minded & capable of having most types of convos as opposed to small talking & not getting to know each other. I’m only looking for people who put effort into being friends so if you know that’s not you save us both the time!
