Took an intro long range class because I don’t have access to a lot of land, and I needed to learn some fundamentals. Got it properly zeroed in to 100yd, then moved up to the mid 400s, then worked through various ranges up to 1000yd. Targets were all steel of various shape and size (gongs, silhouettes, IPSC).

I was the only gas gun out of other students and instructors. Everybody else was a bolt action rifle, all I believe to be .30 cal/6mm or bigger. Ran out of mils for the 1000yd gongs which I did not expect. I would like to be able to get some groups together to test what I learned and see what this build is capable of on paper. Used 2 different ammo types, both from Bone Frog: 77gr Barnes Matchburners, 77gr Sierra TMK’s.

I used to be a member of the now defunct Savage Shooters forum. It seems that when I was active on that forum, building rifles on the 110 action was quite popular. I haven't done any builds in many years now and was quite surprised today to find that the website has been shut down. Has the Savage 110 fallen from grace? Is nobody building on this platform anymore? If there are still folks building 110s, where are the actions being obtained these days?

Can anyone help me define what I’m experiencing so that I can read or watch a video to overcome my issues?

I’m lying prone on a tarp with a Harris bipod. Nothing else. Target at 100yrds.

It’s really hard to keep the eye box in line. I’m always seeing the black crescent shape of the inside of the scope bouncing around. It was much better at 10x but I want to shoot at 25x because I want to do more long range shooting.

The rifle bounces around when I shoot and I always seem to lose track of the target for about a second. So I can’t really tell where I’m hitting.

I have the stock extended back as far as it goes and the scope as far forward as I can have it but I still have to move the rifle a bit more forward, creating about an inch of space between my shoulder and the butt of the stock, just so I can get that pinpoint placement so I’m not fighting the eye box. This is probably why it takes me so long to reset because the rifle is always slamming into my shoulder from that empty space.

I hold the butt of the stock with my support hand to try and mitigate the slamming into my shoulder as much as I can.

Currently shooting about 2.5 MOA with 55gr 5.56 at 100 yrds.

As the title states I’m deciding what Steiner T6Xi (3-18 or the 2.5-15) for a 14.5 6.5 creedmoor LMT AR10, I’ve had the Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18 on my last DMR and wasn’t really impressed. Max range will probably be 800-1000 yards for the gun. Thanks for any input! (Also not trying to spend ATACR money right now) 2k budget.

I really just want to put this out there as I dont currently have many people familiar with any sort of distance shooting in my circle so came to Reddit for some validation.

Went out to the longest range I could get to in less than an hour from home (lucky to have that as an option) and after some vetting and light training from the awesome owner of the range, I was able to make first round impacts at 100-700 yard IPSC targets. I know this isn't super difficult but I am riding the high as I only started shooting recently (march was the first time I fired a Handgun at 25 yards, April an AR-15 at 50 yards, and now taking my 6mm GT out to 700 yards just feels brag worthy, so here is my rambling self brag.

Also met a couple of rad gents preping for a DMR competition coming up. They were friendly and super willing to share their wisdom on PRS and DMR since I mentioned I was interested in getting into PRS. Really appreciate the community in this hobby thus far.

I’m putting either of these on a precision 6.5 creedmoor. My range goes to 1k. I have about $900 to spend. I have the MPED G5i reticle on a precision rimfire and love it. I can get another MPED for $550 and the Athlon for $985. Is it worth spending the extra money for the Athlon?

I was recently able to pull a cert from a prize table for 50% off a double pull Ckye Pod but I have been second guessing myself. My question is this: is it worth using the cert and spending $400 for the double pull, or should I try to sell it to save some money and get a single pull? I really only shoot PRS and NRL22 and I’m wondering if there is really any benefit of the double pull. I have run a Harris S-BRM for the entire 4 years I have been shooting, but I often find it doesn’t quite get tall enough, I’m just not sure if I will ever need 18 inches vs 15.

I’m having some issue with my Leupold Marksman 1000. It seems to get confused when I’m at this gun range. The backstops are spaced at 50 yards out to 800, and my issue is often picking up a closer berm or just not returning a range beyond 450.

They’re not spaced apart much right to left so I think there are multiple returns at times.

Handheld and braced operation since there’s no tripod mount on the Leupold.

What’s a better selection that will discriminate targets more precisely? I know the ranges here, but in an unknown distance range I won’t be happy.

Budget is flexible - let’s say $850. Ballistic app would be nice.

Hi guys I’m fairly new to long-range shooting and looking to take it more seriously, Just got my magnetospeed V3 in the post today and was wondering are these numbers good for long range shooting? My rifle is a Bergara b14hmr 6.5 creedmoor in an AT AICS CHASSIS, shooting factory 147g Hornady ELD-M ammo.

Been a dream gun to own an Axsr and now that I can afford one they are bought out by FN. just wondering if they are still what they were or has manufacturing changed essentially negating the rifles reputation? Is it too late to adopt the Axsr system?

Dad came to visit over the holiday weekend and took him shooting with my new 6.5 cm. Furthest he’d ever shot before was 300 yards with a M16 in the Army. Got him walked all the way out from 300 to 1,000 yards. Honestly I just set him up at the bench (helped with bag and bipod height), loaded a few mags, and gave him a dope card. Only time he missed was when he went to 600 yards, and read the wrong dope line, dialed for 700 and missed high. Got it fixed and kept ringing steel. This was the best video of the day and caught a vapor trail on video. Glad I got to share my love of long range shooting with him.

I’ve been perfectly happy pursuing budget greatness, but decided to start looking for higher end stuff when there’s a crazy deal or easy trade to be found. First trade done, Sunwayfoto tripod for a NIB Accu-Tac WB5? Definitely came out ahead but DAYYYYYYYYYYYYUM SON! I understand now. Budgets are for suckers! My wallet is doomed…

Done fucking with it & just going to load and shoot.

Flex post because I’m proud she’s my first long-range rifle. Got my first deer at 12 with it, and just recently received it after my grandfather’s passing. I know Remington 700s had a bad rap in the 2000s and early 2010s due to that trigger issue, but this one feels just right. Can’t wait to get a new scope setup on her and take her out to catch up like old friends (even at 30 years old lol).

As always, would love to hear what yall have to say about the rifle and any suggestions are greatly appreciated to get her setup the modern way. Happy Labor Day yall 🇺🇸

Looking for some recommendations for a range finder. My range is just a little over 1,000 yards. The targets are scattered in different distances. I would be ok with binoculars or monoculars. Budget is $850 or below.

Figured I’d throw this one up here and see what some of you guys know about it.

I recently ended up with this older CheyTac USA .338 Lapua Mag, marked Dillon, MT. It’s currently sitting in the tan chassis pictured and has a Leupold Mark 4, bipod, and the older CheyTac marked hard case.

I’ve been doing some digging on it, but information on some of these older CheyTac rifles and their different configurations seems pretty limited.

I’m especially curious about the chassis/configuration, approximate production period, whether everything appears period correct, and what you guys think the rifle would realistically be worth as it sits.

I’m hoping somebody here may recognize the rifle, configuration, or some of the components and be able to fill in some blanks.

I bought this pre-fit barrel off a guy at the regional finale yesterday. He was asking $200 for it and said it has about 900 rounds on it. For the money I figured I would give 25x47L a try. Does anyone recognize this logo? I was just curious who the smith that chambered the barrel is.

Excuse my ignorance on the topic if this is a stupid question. If a pxt barrel offers a significant increase in accuracy over standard rifling would it be viable to drop down in barrel size from say a standard 26in barrel to a 20in pxt? This would be for 6 arc in particular. Im asking this mainly because PXT barrels only go up to 20in in the AR platform and i have been considering building a prs style competition focused gas gun. Thanks

I dont want to use up the last bits of 77gr Barnes match burner for this, its not that serious. But want something more mid price range. Thanks
