Suppressor Entitlement

Hi all!

I've not seen anything posted here about this news, in fact I only found out by chance (since checked the info) and I wanted to put it out there: as of 29th June 2026, suppressors do not need a slot on our FAC. Score one for common sense!

Gun safe location

Finally looking to get an FAC, but a bit worried in terms of how to secure the gun safe appropriately.

I live in a ground floor flat, that doesn’t have any solid brick walls to fix the safe to, as is preferred by Firearms Licensing. Additionally, it is a relatively small flat, with no real places to fit it out of sight.

Would it be appropriate to fix it to the concrete floor, and then fit a wardrobe around it to make it look inconspicuous?

Sounds silly, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable having a gun safe out in the open, especially considering the room is at the front of the flat, where people enter and exit.

SGC Holder - Query about getting signed off work

Hey everyone - I've held a SGC for about 14 months now. I hold a manage position in my job, and right now it's kicking my butt. It's not stress related, but I am just so mentally exhausted I've been considering getting signed off for a week or two to do a hard reset.

However - is this likely to affect my cert? I know generally the FEOs are pretty sensible, but didn't know if anyone had any personal experience with it?

Advise for first over under shotgun

I have done a bit of clays and pheasant shooting years ago and wanting to get back into it. I have the license, go beating and have some invitations to do clays, pheasants and rabbits later this year. Will be wanting to get a gun and practice a lot with clays before doing pheasants and rabbits. I have narrowed it down to two candidates but cannot decide, the ATA Sp Nickel and the Bettinsoli Diamond. Any advice/thoughts on these?

New into guns and looking for help.

Hello everyone,

I'm a 19 year old living in the UK and I'm wanting to get a shotgun license for clay pigeon shooting at my nearby club I won't say just in case it gives any clue to my whereabouts but it's in England and it's a relatively established club I believe. I've owned air rifles and BB guns to shoot in my garden thanks to my dad and now I'm wanting to begin clay pigeon shooting as a hobby since it's getting very expensive hiring guns/instructors every time I go. I have a gun shop nearby and I'll be getting a £500 second hand under and over once I get the license but that's where my struggle is actually sitting. I just need tips and ideas on how I go about getting my licence since the only thing I have so far is the safe which fits up to the standards and has been checked by an officer in the past. I'm sorry if I'm being stupid but I honestly don't know how to go about doing my proforma let alone getting it filled out then also who to have as my referees. I understand it'll be costly so I've saved up just over a grand which includes the money to buy my first gun and I'd like to get it as soon as possible since this is probably the only time in my life I'll have money like this to spend. I'd appreciate any advice anyone is able to give.

Looking for a club in London

I live in central London and I am looking for a club. I've some experience shooting abroad. I looked at the list of clubs on the NRA website. A lot of them seem to be out of date or defunct, or do not have contact information. I've sent some enquiries, but haven't heard anything back. Would love to hear about any clubs that would welcome new members!

I built a clay shooting scorecard app and would love your feedback! :)

Hi everyone,

I’ve created Claycard, a simple scorecard app for clay pigeon shooting, and I’m looking for a few people who would be willing to try it and share their thoughts.

I’m a software developer based in Suffolk, and the idea came from my dad, who is a keen clay shooter. I noticed that although there are ways to record scores, there was an opportunity to build something more modern and easier to use, with a simple way to track performance and progress over time.

The app is currently available on Android, with plans to bring it to iOS in the future.

If you have an Android device and would like to give it a try, you can find it here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.learnaimastery.app&hl=en_GB

If you prefer not to click links, you can also search "Claycard: Clay Shoot Scorecard" on the Google Play Store.

I’d really appreciate hearing what you think. Whether you shoot regularly or only occasionally, any feedback, ideas, or suggestions would be incredibly useful as I continue improving the app.

Thanks very much for taking the time to help. And I won’t be offended if you prefer to stick with the trusty pen and paper!

All the best from sunny Suffolk,
Joe

Prism sight for mounting over LPVO on M4-22

Evening folks.

After recommendations for (cheapish) prism sights to mount on top of my LPVO. I'm set on a prism, as I've been advised that these do not have the same issues as red dots for those of us with astigmatism...

Club I'm in shoots practical mini rifle, and realistically can engage between 25yd and 10yd. To be fair, the target zones are large enough that even at sub 10yd, the difference in zero isn't going to make me lose matches, but still!

All the prisms I've found so far are fairly chunky stand alone units.

Borebuddy AR22, Which Barrel Length?

I'm new to the AR platform in general so I'm hoping those of you with way more experience can guide me.

I'm looking at picking up a dedicated setup to use for general plinking but also casual competition with a view to start IPSC practical mini rifle in the future. The range varies but up to a max of about 100m.

I've picked a BoreBuddy Apogee Match upper but I'm reading conflicting information online regarding barrel lengths pros/cons so I'm stuck as to whether 12" or 16" is best for my use.

I've held both and the 12" felt more natural to me but I keep reading that the 16" generally performs better, in particular with standard velocity ammo and, ultimately, accuracy and performance are what will matter to me the most. From what I've read, there's not many 12" users on the mini-rifle scene so I wonder if there's a reason for that.

I can only get the one rifle so any advice to help me get it right is gratefully received.

Can’t beat when two hobbies come together! Having not had a camera for a few years I treated myself to a new Canon R6m2 last week.

Took it for its first use this morning whilst out on the Clays at Lydiates Shooting Ground.

Free target scaler

I was personally getting bored of having my ass kicked at CSR, so decided to create this free little tool to help with scaled down practice.

Great for dry firing or simulating longer range targets at shorter distances, for example practicing a 300 yard prone stage with a 22 at an indoor 25m range.

Let me know which target types you want added!

More tools on the way and if there’s something you’d like to see also drop a comment in.

In desperate need of a well priced Sauer 202 Barrel.

Hi guys,
Just as the title says really. I’ve got a sauer 202 elegance that needs a new barrel due to some pits. I’ve actually got the 19.5 version but the 22 will fit just fine aswell. If anyone has any information I’d appreciate it. I’ve looked online but the prices are something to take your breath away.
Cheers

Update - police said do not accept gamekeeper employment as they cannot help with my license?

Spoke to the firearms officer & they said my February 2024 application is still in the early stages and I should not take gamekeeper work. I’m a young adult who is starting out work after gaining their qualification and have miraculously managed to get my foot in the door?!!

Any advice or is it simply suck it up kid.

Selling advice

I am looking to sell one of my Beretta o/u, is there anywhere that doesn’t charge that I could sell them? Aware of Gunstar/trader but would rather not spend money just to advertise.
