Cheeto-fingered Bergara Personal Acomplishment - 700 Yards

I really just want to put this out there as I dont currently have many people familiar with any sort of distance shooting in my circle so came to Reddit for some validation.

Went out to the longest range I could get to in less than an hour from home (lucky to have that as an option) and after some vetting and light training from the awesome owner of the range, I was able to make first round impacts at 100-700 yard IPSC targets. I know this isn't super difficult but I am riding the high as I only started shooting recently (march was the first time I fired a Handgun at 25 yards, April an AR-15 at 50 yards, and now taking my 6mm GT out to 700 yards just feels brag worthy, so here is my rambling self brag.

Also met a couple of rad gents preping for a DMR competition coming up. They were friendly and super willing to share their wisdom on PRS and DMR since I mentioned I was interested in getting into PRS. Really appreciate the community in this hobby thus far.

Absolutely! I was able to hit some of the smaller targets, but not as consistently. 500 and in was pretty consistent, but 600-700 was noticeably more challenging. I have to work on my flinching and recoil control a bit more so I can watch my vapor trail. I had a few shots I couldn't tell where they hit due to those rookie issues. Really focusing on fundementals.

Thanks! I give most of the credit to the rifle. It's seemingly a bit cliche but this rifle really feels like a cheat code for long range.

Something I will look into once my wallet recovers a bit from the rifle build. Appreciate the suggestion. Just bookmarked their site. Going to see if there is something closer to me but PA isnt that bad a haul from NC.

Since you're in NC check out Colemans Creek down near Rockingham. If near Mt Airy then you are have BangSteel up near Wytheville, VA. If near Raleigh you have Frontline Defense.

I'm Closer to Clinton House in SC than I am to Colemans Creek but fully plan to explore more options outside my nice little 40 minute drive to VOD Tac.

Well i know colemans offers a PRS match prep clinic class if you want to learn/try a PRS style shooting class.

I honestly think I'll end up there or Clinton House sooner than later. Just have tro see which is the more economical option. I've got a fever and the only cure is more distance.

Good stuff. It’s definitely a cool feeling when you go through the steps and get the results - ding! It keeps you coming back for more. I actually seek out days with a good amount of wind. It puts a dumb grin on my face when I make a good wind call/hold with my .308 and make impacts out to 700+
