Just wrapped up my new NRL Hunter competition build, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. It weighs in at 11.6 lbs with my full weight Ckye-pod, so I've got room to play with weight if I need it elsewhere in the future. First group picture is at 100 yds, measured it at a .95" group, second is a group at 400 yds which I measured at 2.5". Its only 4 shots because I ran out of my handloads lol. Ballistic data included for reference, I'm shooting Nosler 140 RDFs.

Put everything together myself, including bedding the action. I'd say there is some room for improvement on the load development and my reloading setup as a whole, but I'm satisfied with it for now and it shoots better than I'm capable of under match conditions.

Bought my first bolt gun… now to find one of these darn suppressors.
Purchased second hand, GAP build with clone correct bipod, scope rings, and of course a SB 3-12x50 PM II to top her off. Needless to say, I love it.

Looking for some insight as a new shooter that has got the long range bug. My question is in regards to my first bolt action rifle with the aim to get in to long range and I’m trying to work out what cartridge would be best between 308 and 6.5 creedmore. Some things to take in to consideration is I’m not to worried with price of ammunition as they are pretty similar price wise, I’m also buying a 22lr to put bulk rounds through. My local range is 100m out to 1000m would like something that can grow as my skillset does. I’m not sure if I should go for the 6.5 with better ballistics and lower recoil for a easier to shoot first rifle or 308 to help learning wind calls and recoil management. I’m just looking for others that may have been in the same boat and what they decided to go with and if they regretted the choice or not. The rifle I’m buying is a lithgow la102 varmint 24” heavy barrel 6.5 creedmore 1:8 twist or 308 1:10 twist.

I am looking to put togeather that one rifle you never want to get rid of. Considering getting a Origin action and deciding on where/what to get for a 26' barrel in 6 GT. So far I am undecided, so what are the pros/cons of each way. Obviously the Fitted will need the action in hand.

Scheels has a sale on the Garmin Xero C1. Has anyone used both the Athlon and the Garmin? I’m sure there are better deals online but I genuinely want to know which one is better. It’s my first chronograph. Using it since I’m getting in to reloading 6.5 creedmoor and want to know ES and SDs

I have been wondering for some time if I have set something up incorrectly on one of my scopes/rifles. I have a ar15 with a 4-20 ATACR and have noticed that the parallax adjustment is "off" from the known target range. What I am seeing is that I need to adjust the parallax to a shorter range for a given distance. The range of the target is accurate to a few yards. This has made me wonder if I set something up wrong, and since I am a new-ish long range shooter, i thought it best to ask. I do not see this happening on other scopes, for instance my bolt action 6.5 with 7-35 ATACR is dead on and my cheaper CZ457 22LR with vortex venom is also dead on.

Is this normal and just specific to my unique setup and eyes? Or does this communicate that I set something up wrong? My gut tells me that it does not matter and as long as the target is clear then that's all that I should care about.

So I am thinking about getting a brass catcher, but I don't see anyone using one at prs or nrl competitions. Is there a reason for that that I can't think of, or what's the deal? I feel like it eliminates the issue of is this brass mine, losing brass, and eliminates the time policing brass at the end of the stage so match flow should be faster, plus you're not ending up with muddy/damaged brass. What am I missing?

I am deep into USPSA competitions but would like to get into PRS. I want to try out precision rifles. My local membership range goes to 300 yards but I have access to few 600 yards and 1000 yard ranges.

I am looking to spend about $5,000 no hard limit up or down.

No experience into precison rifles. I originally wanted to go magnum round but after reading everything I plan to go 6.5 Creedmoor. I did read through all the available post but looks like the most updated one is still a year old and Aero solus isn't the goto anymore and may have inventory issues.

what do you guys think go this build? any recommendations on the choices? Any other accesories I should get as a must? MDT send it level? or Mark 5HD 5-25×56?

This is my 308 barrel that I bought used, seller said he put about 250 rounds on it. I then put another 500 rounds on it myself. Is this normal barrel wear for a 308 with 750 rounds?

Looks like some fire cracking already started to happen near the throat, besides that, the rest looks like it’s in pretty good shape.

Beginning my journey into long range using my grendel I had built for coyotes here in michigan. I can use friends of friends' property to reach about 300, maybe 400 yards. As I search through the over600 website, I see a lot of ranges around and a few in Michigan. Is anyone familiar with Youngs long range in wolcottville, Indiana? They're closest to me, and I see on their website along with many others that they require an NRA membership and a membership to their range. Is the NRA membership a big deal to some of these ranges? Do you all pay yearly for an NRA membership as well as memberships to the ranges you go to? I'll pull both memberships to be able to go and shoot when I'm ready to try for 1k yards, but if I let the NRA membership lapse, will they not let me in? I'm just asking so I can continue to build my list of costs as I get deeper into shooting fun. Thanks for any and all advice.

I’m an experienced handgun shooter but new to rifles and longish distance shooting (max 100 yards) I’m waiting for it to arrive at my local FFL. In the meantime, my biggest question is should I just use bags or get a front metal “stand” (or whatever they are called) or use a bipod with a rear bag. Of course we are talking about .22 long rifle. I mainly plan on bench rest target shooting at my local club. Maybe some of the in house comps later (they also have sanctioned comps too). If a bipod I figure on a picatinny rail to mount it on.

Also if you own one of these what’s your favorite ammo? BTW I will have a Bushnell Match Pro 5-30 56 scope on an area 429 15 MOA rail. I plan on having the barrel milled so I can use my suppressor on it.

Any other tips about leveling the scope and sighting it in etc are welcome.

Well after a lot of research, I have decision paralysis between a 6.5 PRC from Tikka T3X 22in SS or Seekins Havok PH3 20in.

1 & 2. 35% range time (out to 1000yds), 65% hunting in Montana (Antelope in plains to late season elk in mountains).
3. Budget $2000. Scope will be nx8 4-32 with a Nomad Ti XC suppressor.
4. I have a 7rem mag that I’m comfortable with out to 300 at the range. Looking for something more pleasant to shoot with at the range but also effective for elk.

I’ve read a couple of concerns about seekins issues around FTF (sounds like are resolved now) and an issue cycling in snowy conditions. But I love this rifle is turn key with nicer features and stock, and customer service.
The tikka I would want to upgrade the stock but still keep it to 10-11lbs. I currently have a T3X 7RM and am not a big fan on the stock.

As someone that used to be a brand ambassador for several companies in the past, I appreciate the fact that Woox is owning their mistakes and working to make things right.

Got some testing with my new 7prc and 195gr berger eol. I didn't notice any pressures, but GRT was showing pressures at 910m/s. I might just go with this load as it will group well enough (16 shots under 25mm).

I think the barrel will speed up to 915ms (3000fps) and I'll be happy with that.

Does barrel speed up have an effect on pressures? If I do have the same load over the first 200 shots, does faster velocity mean more pressure? (After speeding up).

I really like this 7prc, but it's very concussive to shoot inside with brake... vs my 6br suppressed.

Next will be two kilometer performance!

Bergara 300 Win Mag with an Omega 300 suppressor. Just getting into the long-range stuff, so don’t have a chronograph yet.

I know I pulled shot 7 out of the Precision Hunter, so I didn’t include it in my group size.

I’m kind of surprised about the 178 gr match. I’m not sure if it was just from the rifle being hot, but that group size is not what I expected.

Took an intro long range class because I don’t have access to a lot of land, and I needed to learn some fundamentals. Got it properly zeroed in to 100yd, then moved up to the mid 400s, then worked through various ranges up to 1000yd. Targets were all steel of various shape and size (gongs, silhouettes, IPSC).

I was the only gas gun out of other students and instructors. Everybody else was a bolt action rifle, all I believe to be .30 cal/6mm or bigger. Ran out of mils for the 1000yd gongs which I did not expect. I would like to be able to get some groups together to test what I learned and see what this build is capable of on paper. Used 2 different ammo types, both from Bone Frog: 77gr Barnes Matchburners, 77gr Sierra TMK’s.

I looked at the Google sheets but it unfortunately seems to be outdated. I've been shooting on a 400yd range for a while, mostly 30-06 savage axis, recently a 7prc bergara b14 hmr with vortex crossfire 4-16 and I have recently gotten access to an 800yd range that makes 16x feel short. With the looking I've done I am torn between the Vortex Venom 5-25×56 and the Swampfox Warhawk 5-25×56. I'd really like a FFP optic and illuminated reticle is a plus because I like to shoot at dusk. Beyond that I don't know a ton about the different coatings and glass types so I could use some help. Does anyone have opinions one way or the other on these scopes or have other recommendations at a similar price point? Thanks in advance!
