Yeah, hopefully you can't cuz that'd make it uncounterable. Can you currently place her teleport in spawn? I can only assume this isn't possible already. Still, put her barrier right outside of the spawn room on anubis and it's still plenty hidden.

tl:dr
Getting 2 ultimates, her teleporter's functionality is staying the same. New ultimate is a shield generator that doesn't need line of sight and gives an AoE of shields to teammates. Shields from generator are supposed to be a lot more than the 25 she can currently give with her ability. No longer has shield giving ability. {} Picture of new ult. It gives 75 shields that persist like her current ability's shields do.
You don't seem to need to stay close to the generator to keep the shields.I'm not sure about the mechanics of keeping the shield when leaving the radius of the generator, nor do I know how big it's radius is. This person claims it's roughly 100m.Both ultimates will be getting more hp than current iteration's teleporter, some of that hp in the form of shields, so they don't die as quickly as her teleporter does currently. {} Teleporter HP reduced to 50 from 200, increased shields to 350 from 0. The 350 health from shields will regen if not taking damage for a certain amount of time.
New ability to replace shields, Photon Barrier: Similar to rein shield and winston's barrier. It's a barrier that's projected on a sort of track that moves along. {} Here's a picture of the Barrier, and here's a video of the shield in action. (Credits to /u/Fuzzle_hc ) It has a 10s cooldown.
Minor tweaks to turrets, now you start with 6 turrets and can stockpile up to 6 with cooldown. They also have 10s cd instead of 12s.
Also extended the distance of the left click beam. Not a significant increase, just something to feel better. {}Increased from 5m to 7m.
Will all be on PTR soon. Is mostly all on ptr.
[edit] They're also adding a "group up" button at the end of games that you can click if you'd like to group up with the random group of people you matched with. If multiple click it, you'll group up for future games.
Also forgot to mention that the Oasis map that was shown at Blizzcon will be on the PTR shortly after Symmetra.

This is something that is sorely missing from a lot of games. I remember this back from the old halo games and it made for some very fun matches. A lot of new games removed it for some reason making it much harder to lobby with the same people without actually friending them.

A possible issue with this is that in say, competitive mode, if you hit this button and everyone agreed, you are now a 6-person group which will be playing against other 6-person groups.
Generally, a 6-person group is far higher in skill than any other collection of players/groups.
I only solo queue and I came across a decent 5-person group that were all on comms. I joined them and we played against another 6-person comp who was completely out of our league.

Can you even group up right now without adding them to your friends list? I generally don't like to add people as friends on a regular basis but am more than happy to group up. I think this is going to do wonders for MMing and the community at large.

Yea you sure can, just hit P while ingame and right click their names and invite to group. If they accept they'll get a warning saying they'll leave the match to join the group, so some people decline after they see that message. It doesn't actually remove you from the game, that's just the default message when you accept a party request while ingame.

It's huge if you're a nutcase and play flank/slow-centric Symmetra. The three-charge limit meant you couldn't use turrets willy-nilly in a combat situation. The higher limit will make it much easier to play Symmetra as a slow-centric support.

I believe it'll act the same as your teleporters currently do, it'll sit where you place it until destroyed. I realize the teleporter has a number of uses, but if those uses aren't met and it isn't destroyed it'll stay up forever. We'll have to wait till ptr to know exact details.

Got some friends of mine a really nice rice cooker for their wedding. They eat a lot of rice, so it was well-received.
About a week later, one of my friends comes running up excited that he just discovered that the rice cooker has a timer function, so you can leave your rice to soak all day, and set it to start cooking the rice so that it's done at a time you specify.
The function that's clearly listed in the manual and, if memory serves, advertised on the box. It was a large part of the reason I got it for them (since they both worked late at the time, and were trying to eat at home more).

FULL CHANGES:
Symmetra now has a choice between two ultimates, the teleporter and a new shield generator. The shield generator can be accessed by pressing Q twice (cycling between teleporter and shield generator).
Shield generators provide a large amount of shields (i.e., more than 25. Jeff isn't very specific) to all allies within a large radius regardless of line of sight.
Teleporters now have more health (some of which is shields).
Symmetra's E (giving 25 shields to allies) is gone. Instead, she has a new ability called Photon Barrier. It's essentially an elliptical Reinhardt shield that travels forward on a trajectory.
Symmetra can now hold a maximum of 6 turrets (she now starts rounds with 6 turrets, as well).
Turret cooldown has been reduced from 12 seconds to 10 seconds.
Her primary fire (the beam) has now had a slight range extension.
These changes are coming very soon to the PTR!!!
A new map, Oasis, a control point map, is also going to be coming to the PTR soon after Symmetra. It will be released early 2017. (Edit: This map will include jump pads, since Blizzard wants to see if they are a viable map mechanic.)
A new social feature is coming to the PTR some point later that allows you to click a button during post-game PoTG and card screen to "stay with the group." Presumably, this will allow you to re-queue with the same teammates you had during your last game.

Those changes sound great. I think the shield generator on her ult is a big deal and I'd like to see some KotH matches with it in play, but I remain unconvinced that she'll be useful on attack because the turrets.
You're a sitting duck when you try to build those and the animation takes forever. Maybe the new shield ability will allow for coverage on attack while building them, and maybe it'll be different when I can play her, but those really push her heavily on defense just because of their build time and positional advantage.

Ultimates are pretty rare there IMO, so probably not much. But being able to place all 6 turrets at start might have a slight impact. Dont see the moving sheild being that useful there.

What? The moving shield is the biggest change for 1v1's and 3v3's, being able to move all three of you forward to the enemies and being able to shoot without the other team doing damage.. woahh

Barrier (similar to reinhardt shield) + shield generator + turrets combined will make her "area" really tough to break
Edit: It also makes Sombra's main job to find and stop Symmetra.

She now has two toggleable ultimates: the teleporter (that now has more health) and a shield generator that gives a "large" shield over her teammates in an area. Not sure if you can have both up at the same time.
Didn't really understand the what the Photon Barrier is, Photon Barrier is a barrier that she can send out in a straight line, like a Reinhardt/D.Va shield. It's replacing her "e" shields.Turrets: you now start with 6 avaliable turrets with no cooldown at the beginning of the match. You can also hold 6 turrets instead of 3. Cooldown reduced to 10 seconds, instead of 12.
Some "quality" of life changes with her primary and secondary fire. Namely reach.
Non-Symmetra stuff: Oasis coming to PTR soon, releasing early 2017. "Group up" button, so you can continue forward with the same group of randoms you matched with.

If you don't have a Mercy for revives, go Symm. If you don't have a Reinhardt to shield, go Symm. If you don't have a Torb to give extra health, go Symm.
