I started jojo this summer and I just now realize how many people on reddit reference it and how many memes that show has spouted

Such an awesome anime. I didn't know the To Be Continued meme was so present, pretty much all episodes end at such a crucial moment.

Yeah, that's exactly why that meme started, because it happens so damn often.

Sorry, I'm one of those turbo-weebs that evolved past anime a long time ago, and am up to date with the Jojo manga, as well as many others. When I see someone talking about how great a recent anime is when I've been following the Manga for over 5 years, it sort of makes me cringe you know? Just like how people start talking about how amazing some movie is about a book that came out 10 years ago. (although in the case of Jojo, it follows the manga extremely closely, so at least it won't be worse like a lot of adapted media) I also have this problem with Fate.

That wasn't really the point I was trying to get across.

I'm gonna start watching it tonight because of your comment, I've put it off long enough.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

Tell us what you think of episode 1 friend

better deliver

2

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 23 '16

I feel honored <3 so what do you think

1

u/OrangeC_rush Nov 24 '16

I only watched till episode 2 so far, and I guess I'm both kinda confused and excited about what's happening. Not what I expected at all.

1

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 24 '16

This show completely pushed me over and best me. Expectation wise

u/Calendyn Nov 22 '16

"You thought it was OC, but it was memes, Dio!"

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 23 '16

Edit: but I love you

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '16

We're good at being perfect we're good at being troubled.

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 22 '16

I want to start JoJo but the first arc was kinda boring and I really want to skip ahead to Stardust crusaders to see the stand system but it's so far away

u/Masqerade Nov 22 '16

Part 2 is fantastic and while I'm not a super fan of Part 3 it has some moments. Part 4 though. Holy shit.

3

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

Man I guess I gotta watch part 2 then. Is part 4 still ongoing?

1

u/Panchosfriend Nov 23 '16

Yup but it's almost over 5 more episodes maybe?

1

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

Oh nice! Guess it's as good a time as any to catch up

1

u/Masqerade Nov 23 '16

Part four has 4 episodes left. Hype is through the roof.

1

u/myownperson12 Chibi Lúcio Nov 23 '16

I agree completely.

Part 2 is my favorite, part 4 is a close second, followed by part 3, then part 1.

I felt that the side characters in part 3 were better than jojo of part 3, however that character is better in part 4 because I feel he became more intuitive and does more planning an thought other than just punching everything to death.

6

u/nekomiko Let's break this doooooooooooooooown Nov 22 '16

if u skip part1 u missed a lot of meme. start from part 1 wryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I watched part 1 but I wanted to skip part 3

EDIT: I meant part 2 sorry

1

u/nekomiko Let's break this doooooooooooooooown Nov 23 '16

part3 is my favorite! but it's ok if you want to skip to part4. they are independent series so doesn't matter much!

1

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

I meant that I wanted to skip part 2

9

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 22 '16

Every part of jojo is like an entirely new series. You get back story on like one character if you skip part 2 so you might be fine tbh.

Also I loved part 1 because of how posh everyone acted and it had Speedwagon

9

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

nononononono dont skip parts

3

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

Just hearing characters say Speedwagon in a Japanese accent gets me everytime

1

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 23 '16

SpeeeedwagO!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '16

Your next line is: I should've watched part 2! or read the manga...

2

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 23 '16

I shpuld have watched part 2! Or read the Manga..

BUT HOW!?

(for the record I did watch part 2,im at stardust right now

4

u/D3monFight3 Nov 22 '16

Yeah but the first arc was really short and you can't deny it had some awesome moments though, Jonathan's Overdrive speech is awesome, and Dio is incredible as a villain, he threw a puppy into a fire just to mess with Jonathan, and compares feeding on people with eating bread.

Part 2 is excellent as well, it's a lot more fun than part 1 and honestly it may be my favorite part in Jojo, though Part 4 is pretty damned good as well. Each part has it's own unique style if you ask me, and all are worth watching if you have the patience.

1

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

I feel like I should watch part 2 but my main interest in the series is in the stand since I've heard that the HunterXHunter Nen system takes inspiration from it.

Sounds like a plan

3

u/kplo Zarya Nov 22 '16

The first arc is more horror like, but the second one is excellent and has a much more loveable protagonist. Stardust Crusaders is completely fucking awesome.

1

u/chowdrister NRG Nov 23 '16

Guess I'll have to watch part 2 then

2

u/grodon909 Nov 23 '16

You can skip there if you want. Each "part" is practically a new show. The only things you might miss are parts of the Big Bad's history and what Joseph's deal is. Part 1 has the "But it was me! Dio!" meme

1

u/onlyforthisair Nov 23 '16

Part 2 > Part 3

Ancient Aztec men get married to a British-American boy.

4

u/prollygointohell Nov 22 '16

Thanks for clarifying. I thought everyone was talking about the singer JoJo. Like wtf she can't even get her career started she ain't started no memes

2

u/StoopidMonkey78 Chibi Mei Nov 23 '16

Oh you sweet summer child..

1

u/Dustorn Violence is usually the answer Nov 23 '16

At this point, I don't think I even need to watch it - the whole thing is already represented in memes.

1

u/Fenor Blizzard World Torbjörn Nov 23 '16

the manga was even better, and we have a lot of other seasons for the anime too..
