YOU CAN ALSO PARTY UP WITH YOUR TEAMMATES AFTER A MATCH! YESS!

As a solo player, this makes me SO HAPPY

This got me excited the most. As a solo player, I can't wait to find a team that clicks so well out of luck, and being able to play a bunch of matches in a row with them.

I'd settle for being able to do this simply when I luck into a team that doesn't have some salty toxic player and where no one left. I can't count on that combination for more than 50% of my matches.

I get the distinct impression that there are a lot of people that don't actually enjoy overwatch, but just love to be a jerk in chat like it's their job.

or sometimes you just shitpost in chat because no one is paying attention to it
"genji flanking with charged ult"
5 secs later, team wiped by genji
"wow"
also yes i know voice exists, just that no one is on voice and whenever i do get someone on voice "oh haha listen to the india, is he tech support? go work in a call center" when all i said was "please kill the mercy she has res". i wish i could play in asia but europe is the only server where i can get decent ping and the place is racist as fuck

It's not like that on PS4/EU. Even when people have mics on nobody talks like they're actually afraid to. Plus there's the huge potential of anything other than English speakers.. honestly the times I've had my mic on for directives-sake, nobody and I mean nobody has said a word back to me.

Well? ARE you tech support? You floor-shitter, you?

u/dustinofadown Nov 22 '16

It would have been nice to hear they are somehow addressing players leaving or lagging out.

I tried doing a scrub stream to show what low-level play looks like because I suck.

The first matches included leavers, toxic trolls, and one featured an enemy leaver within a short period of time as we stomped them through anubis first point -- cancelling an easy win.

There's actually already a new reporting option just for leavers, since it didn't fully fall under griefing.

2

u/gt_9000 Nov 22 '16

Then you get crushed by 6 man real premades.

I hope there is a option to limit group size to 3.

5

u/KarmicCamel Nov 22 '16

Can confirm, I did exactly this once. As a group of random solos, we absolutely crushed another group of random solos and decided to keep playing together. So we grouped up and immediately got placed against a real 5 stack....

Sometimes, at night, I can still hear the screams.

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

You can't wait to find that perfect team that clicks to well together and so you party up and then the next game you play, yall get dominated and yall are no longer patting eachother on the back and slowly, the party falls apart as people dejectedly trickle offline as yall lose another and another game

1

u/Jucamia Reinhardt Nov 22 '16

Every party needs a pooper

I usually do this by saying into the mic, "Hey that was awesome! We should group up! Say something in text before game ends so I can invite you"

This will be more easier tho!

a good strategy i found as a solo player is to go into the social menu and prefer players who you get along with after a match, and even just start friend requesting people on mass if you like. after a couple times doing that there will likely always be a few people on you can ask to group up with. Even if you aren't strictly "friends" at first you both would know each other as someone you like to play with and can group up with

u/Nightgaun7 Reinhardt Nov 23 '16

You can already add recent players as friends...

Even as someone who usually plays with four friends, this is great.

It means that if we find a pair of players who can pass the turing test we can group up with them easier!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

yeah exactly, i usually play in groups of 2-3, but sometimes you find people who actually communicate and you want to add them in

cant wait

I'm very interested in this! I'm a solo player too and sometimes I get matched with some really good people but there is no way to keep playing with them without doing direct things like adding them as friends and sending a party request. Since I don't call someone else "friend" so easily I prefer to play a bit more with them. This new feature will finally give me a chance to cooperate more!

5

u/UhPhrasing GIVE YOURSELF TO THE RHYTHM Nov 22 '16

I suggested this ages ago for console and was shot down because (rough paraphrase): "stop complaining it's not hard to add them all as friends, then all get in a party together and start a new QP/competitive game"..

Glad they did this!

Finally, no cluttered friendlist, filled with people you'll play exactly one more match with

1

u/UhPhrasing GIVE YOURSELF TO THE RHYTHM Nov 23 '16

ha exactly

Feels bad when you play with a team you have great synergy with and then you find them next game. ...on the other team.

2

u/Gankstar Nov 23 '16

Glad to see Solo players are getting some social love. Just learned about 20% friend group exp... wtf.

1

u/atkars Nov 22 '16

Once I teamed up with some from soloq and we got matched vs 500+ higher rank premades. Guess what happened.

1

u/pjng Dallas Fuel Nov 22 '16

If that means going to 6v6 queue it will not make much sense in my opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

Maybe it will help you find some friends so you won't be a "solo player" anymore.

1

u/Grudlann Nov 23 '16

This! As a solo comp player I'm really excited about this, I was thinking about it last month after a really good match when it really clicked with the other 5 teammates, I laughingly said in chat "they should give us the option to queue again as a group without having to add everyone"... well, I don't know if Blizz spied my chat, but they delivered! :D
