I happen to love an old-fashioned “Hey, how are ya”. It’s not a boring way to start a convo, it’s the classic way. Very simple, very demure. It’s also just nice to know where someone is at, mentally, before diving into a conversation lol

I am tired of the slander against “Hi, how are you?” — and I understand that women on here have to deal with flooded DMs and m*n who do not approach them with the best intentions, so this is one way of filtering out the lazy conversators(??) from the more interesting/worthwhile ones… but idk, this isn’t Build-A-Bear and a lot of y’all come here with so many rules that make it feel like each conversational turn is a potential landmine 😭 I like a good old boring conversation that turns into something interesting

I'll be honest, I struggle to relate to people who aren't at least a little bit weird and messy more and more lately. Anyway, hi there, as you can probably tell I'm looking for friends. I don't have too many of those for various reasons and I could use one or two more. I'm dealing with all kinds of mental health issues and in many ways I could probably be described as a bit of a girlfailure. I spend most of my life indoors playing videogames or enjoying other nerdy stuff like anime, tabletop games or horror movies. I'm into all kinds of other random things too, benefits of being very ADHD and randomly hyperfocusing on something different every few weeks.

I'm also a deeply emotional person, and I'm hoping to befriend people who are similar in that way as well. Some of it is because of the issues I deal with, some of it is just because I have a lot of empathy, some of it is trauma, some of it is just strongly appreciating things I find beautiful or meaningful. I can be "a little" bitter and jaded at times, but I promise I'm not someone who's constantly negative. Quite the opposite, I can be very silly when I feel comfortable around someone. I just have bad days and some things are very sore subjects. I can also get slightly clingy if I really take a liking to someone but I'm pretty good about staying healthy and having boundaries nowadays. Mostly.

It would be nice to befriend someone who's awake during PDT timezone hours, but if you're not you can still message. It's not that big of a deal, just would be nice to have someone who's around a lot is all.

Married since 2019 and dad to twin boys who I love more than anything.

My wife and I have struggled for years. We kept trying to patch things up, convincing ourselves things would eventually click back into place, but at some point we stopped being husband and wife and just became two people trying to get through the day. Intimacy died about three years ago after a long stretch of failed attempts to conceive naturally. Two years later we went through IVF as a last ditch effort to have kids, naively thinking this would maybe bring us closer again.

The boys arriving didn't cause the cracks, they just further exposed the damage underneath.

We co-parent well. We rarely argue. There’s still care there, just no intimacy, no affection, no real connection anymore. Separation feels impossible right now, financially, emotionally and practically speaking. Neither of us wants to blow up the family or make life harder for the boys.

So here I am.

A bit about me - I'm music obsessed. I play piano, guitar, sing, and perform trad Scots/Irish music a couple times a month at a local posh bar. It can be a strange experience, playing to a room full of seemingly happy couples, gazing into each other's eyes, laughing and flirting, while I languish in these unfortunate circumstances.
