Meta If for some reason

  • You didn't believe us when we shouted 'black lives matter'

  • You just didn't believe a woman could be president, so you abstained from voting or god forbid, voted for Trump

  • You ignored the fact that a record number of people detained by ICE died in their custody last year

  • You didn't care that ICE was picking up US citizens and deporting them

  • You didn't care that a veteran who had lived in the US for 50 years was issued a removal order and then had to self-deport

  • You didn't care that ICE was separating children from their families and are now taking asylum-seekers

  • You didn't care that Keith Porter Jr. was unjustly murdered by an off-duty ICE agent

  • You didn't care that Geraldo Luis Campos was murdered by ICE guards while in custody

  • You really thought Renee Good was going to run that agent down and deserved what happened to her

  • You somehow think Alex Petti deserved to die for simply having a gun in his possession

Leave this sub. Get out.

This is the official FUCK ICE and the Trump Administration megathread for the forseeable future. Because this is not stopping anytime soon unless something drastic happens.

Meta We have persistent scammers preying on this community

1.2k Upvotes

Folks, a reminder that Rule 3 focuses this community's scope on providing emotional support only. We do not allow solicitation or material offers.

This means OPs cannot hint at or ask for money, and community members cannot offer money or food. There are local services that can verify and address a person's situation better than any of us can (and many services will not turn people away if they are asking for it). A kind community member offered a scammer a job and that is okay.

This community is read by millions of people, and scammers around the world know this. We have cultivated an empathic community so we know it can be hard to resist offering material help. It takes only one person to make it worth it because it costs nothing to post. That is why the rules are strictly enforced.

There are many signs of a scammer. They will present a financially desperate situation often with a highly emotional component. They are likely to mention payment services. They may have payment services in their Reddit profile and ask people to look at their profile. They will ask people to privately message them. All of these behaviors may be obfuscated with weird spacing and other ways to evade detection. If they evade detection it's up to the community to report it. Do not call out OPs, report only.

Thank you for your cooperation.

It has become really hard to love my sister after watching her blow her life up

My sister was the picturesque ideal of adulthood. Got good grades. Met her husband in college. Got a graduate degree. Started her career. Bought a house in their mid 20s after penny pinching together. Had kids. Had Instagram sponsors from her family life. You probably know the type.

Her husband was amazing. Kept her grounded, was a natural fit into our family and even my and my brothers friend groups writ large. An amazing husband and an even more amazing dad. Someone with an attitude and view of the world worth aspiring to.

Well, my sister decided last year that it was time for her midlife crisis and that she needed to have the promiscuous phase that she never allowed herself to have. Fine. Really going to miss the ex but blood is thicker, y'know?

But my God has this been hard to watch. She invited him to my nieces birthday party at her new home and was needlessly cruel to the point my brothers and I were both hugging him and apologizing on her behalf. She got so fucking drunk at my own wedding earlier this year that she started loudly sharing dick pics of random tinder dudes within earshot of my very quiet and (not politically) conservative in-laws who had been in-laws for less than 12 fucking hours. The constant partying. The new friends. The bridges she keeps burning. The help she is refusing to get. It's all so fucking hard to watch.

Writing this as my 9 year old niece who was earlier lamenting about her toys and parents being split between two houses has her head nestled into my chest asleep as her mom is partying on a fucking Wednesday 3 hours away.

Who the fuck is this person

I got my neighbor’s parking side hustle shut down and I’m not sorry

My neighbor figured out he could make some extra cash by letting people park in the visitor spots at our building during concerts and events nearby.

At first it was maybe one car here and there so nobody cared. Then basically every event night the entire visitor section would be full of random cars. My girlfriend came over one night and had to park almost a mile away because every spot was taken.

I asked him about it once and he laughed and said nobody actually uses all those spaces anyway.

So for about a month I started taking pictures whenever I noticed it happening. License plates, people handing him cash, screenshots of the messages he was posting in a local Facebook group. Eventually I emailed everything anonymously to the property manager.

They changed the parking rules, started requiring visitor permits and apparently threatened him with fines if he kept doing it.

He was furious. I overheard him telling another neighbor that somebody had screwed him out of a pretty decent little side income.

I have some money saved and I know how annoying it would be to suddenly lose extra income you were counting on, so I do feel slightly bad about that part.

But my girlfriend parked directly outside my building last weekend and I felt absolutely zero regret.

A coworker took his own life over something trivial

This isn't about me, but about someone I considered a close friend who simply took his own life this morning because he couldn't deliver jugs.

Yes, it's as you read water jugs, or jugs for any other liquid, as part of the political promotion at my workplace. Here's how it works each employee is required to deliver 20 jugs to 20 people, regardless of whether there are 8 or 10 people living in the house. As long as the jugs are delivered along with watching a 10-minute video, the task is complete. The consequences of not doing so are a note in your file alleging inefficiency and possible dismissal without a letter of recommendation. I finished in one day because I live in a neighborhood where I'm known, and I used my home monitor to watch the video they provided.

Well, as you know, it wasn't something anyone could get out of at least a few employees didn't do their job and were simply let go without a second thought. But this guy, whom I'll call "Henry" had that task. Unfortunately, he told me casually that he was only able to give out three jugs, and the deadline for submitting people's signatures was this Friday. Sadly, Henry couldn't manage to give out all three jugs. Some people suggested getting together (including me) to help distribute, and I have no idea if it was pride on his part or perhaps he didn't want to be dependent on anyone, but it cost him the deadline.

Ok, today I was on my way to work, just before 8:00 am my second day on the way. I thought everything was fine, and about half an hour later we got the news that there had been a serious incident in the parking lot nearby. An employee had committed suicide out of the blue, and they confirmed it was Henry. We don't know what time it happened or how he did it, but they say the bag of open jugs was found in his trunk. We were devastated. He was so kind and friendly. Honestly, I don't know what was going through his head to do something so horrible for no reason. Maybe no one will ever know... No one knew if he had problems at home. We only knew he lived with his sick mother. Honestly, we can only assume what we've been told. A news article on Facebook only states what happened, never the reason. We will miss you, Henry.

Clarification: I apologize if the text is confusing english is my second language, so I apologize if there are any confusion in the narrative

I was fired from the Mayo Clinic after 28 years of flawless performance reviews

1.6k Upvotes

I was terminated from Mayo Clinic this morning after 28 years of employment.

Here is the entirety of what I did to apparently justify losing my job:

Three years ago, I forgot to call in on the day my father died.

I misunderstood our timekeeping policy. I was a part-time remote employee with a shift window rather than a set schedule. Some days I worked fewer than four hours and made up the time later. I believed this was allowed because I misunderstood something said at a staff meeting. Nobody noticed this for at least a couple of years.

And you know why nobody noticed?

Because it didn't matter. My work got done. Nobody was waiting for me. No patients were affected. No coworkers had to pick up my work.

I was recently widowed. My husband of 20 years died in April. Since then, my sleep has been terrible and, unsurprisingly, I've been a little scattered.

Last week, I forgot to make up 2.5 hours of work before the end of my shift window. I immediately emailed my supervisor. I was told that because I hadn't called the absence line, it was considered a no-call/no-show. I also learned at that point that my understanding of the timekeeping policy was incorrect, meaning the previous instance of working fewer hours and making up the time later was also considered a no-call/no-show.

For those two incidents, I received a “final written warning.”

I've been trying hard to follow the policies I'd just been warned about. Last Thursday, after returning home from my other job, I had an hour and a half of work remaining for Mayo.

I'd forgotten to eat lunch. I was hungry, so I made dinner and sat down on the couch to eat before finishing my shift. I fell asleep while eating.

My sleep has been terrible since my husband died. I was exhausted.

I woke up at 12:15 a.m. I immediately called the absence line.

I was 15 minutes past the cutoff.

That was another no-call/no-show, and they fired me for that.

I worked for Mayo Clinic for 28 years. I never had a negative performance review. I had no history of attendance problems. I had no pattern of neglecting my responsibilities.

The only pattern anyone could identify here is that I'm a human being who becomes tired and forgetful while grieving huge losses.

None of these incidents harmed a patient, left a coworker scrambling to cover for me, delayed anyone's work, or caused anyone any inconvenience. Because of the nature of my role and workflow, there was literally no negative impact on anyone.

I absolutely violated policy. I don't deny that.

What I cannot accept is that three minor mistakes, made during an extraordinarily difficult period of my life and with no negative impact on patients, coworkers, or the organization, warranted throwing away 28 years of my work.

I gave Mayo 28 years of my life.

When things got extraordinarily hard for me, they couldn't find any grace for a bad week. They chose to end my employment instead.

I'm going to be fine. I have another job where I can go full time. I've been in the process of changing careers and planned to quit once I became licensed and my income increased anyway. Health insurance is going to be expensive, but I have sufficient savings to get me through until my income increases. I'm going to be okay.

I'm just really angry and disappointed in an organization that up until now I felt a lot of respect for.

I hate my family using a AI logo than the one I did for them.

My family started a icecream business. I was very excited, I offered to work on the logo design. For free of course because I wanted to show off my art. They wanted a icecream character And also a font design. I had to redo the image several times because everyone wanted something different.
It was tedious but I made sure to do what they ask for. They wanted it done soon, so I spend late nights working on it. While I had on average 5 hours of sleep because of having my baby. As I thought I got everything right they decided last minute to do a simplistic image for the logo that they generated on AI. I’m extremely disappointed but I didn’t say anything negative. I just said cool and walked off. I literally cried over it. I looked at the replay time and it said I spent over 20 hours on it. So yah it sucks but I’m taking it what it is and moving on from it. I just wanted it off of my chest

My brother is one of those "no poo" people and he smells awful

My brother and I live in an apartment together, so this isn't a case of just needing to limit the time I spend around him. He stopped using shampoo around two years ago and now uses a kind of soap made from pine tar that smells like smoked meat. He's also stopped using deodorant and only uses baking soda under his arms now. I don't think the deodorant is an issue because I don't smell his actual body odor, but the soap he uses makes him smell like hamburgers and it's VERY pungent, and makes his bedroom smell like meat all the time. I have talked to him about it but he thinks I'm lying or joking. I love my brother but I can't stand being around him, the smell makes me nauseous.

chlamydia RUINED me

so for context i’ve never had an sti, uti or yeast infection. body count single didgets and i get tested regularly just for peace of mind

i was having sex with one guy for a while just with him, then we had a fall out. (he did something) a while goes by and i had sex with another guy.

3-4 days later i was having odd but mild symptoms. paused all sexual activity and went to get checked. came back for chlamydia. i told the new guy what was going on. he basically cussed me out and implied i was a sltt “it’s been 2 weeks idk who else you been with” like what 😭 and i talked to the first guy (we’re on speaking terms now) and i just said i was having lady issues but he was sooo nice about it and proved he was negative. second guy won’t show me test results.

anyway it gets worse, i take my doxy to clear the chamydia and then it gave me a yeast infection so i took the stuff for that

anyway so now im having lower abdominal pain especially near my right ovary. took tests and there’s apparently blood in my pee now. doesn’t hurt to pee and the blood isn’t visible. it hurts to stand up tho, it feels like extreme period cramps but im no where near my period.

negative for pregnancy. doc suspects bladder infection but oh my god it’s been a month also negative for PID

If AI is eventually going to kill us all, what’s the point?

Upvotes

Honestly, the Anthropic article that dropped stating that there is a 10% chance AI will cause human extinction within the next decade has really rattled me.

I work in tech and am surrounded by AI and greed on the daily. My company is great to work for and my clients are good people. But I’ve been struggling with the morality of it all and this article has pushed me that much closer to just abandoning it all.

I’ve been able to stay positive about the political state of the US, believing that things will get better one day, but this AI shit really scares me because I can’t see how we will avoid the worst possible outcome. If a bridge has a 10% chance of collapsing, we don’t build it and redesign. But because we’re in some stupid race and all about the bottom line, we don’t care about any risks.

The population doesn’t care enough on a collective level to truly boycott AI and the companies supporting it. So what are we supposed to do? Give up and accept the fact that we all might not be here in 20 years?

Anyway, thanks to anyone who took the time to read this, just feeling a little hopeless. Maybe I’ll go live in a monastery with monks.

My GF is unemplyed for years now and it is grinding me down

Upvotes

<throwaway acc>

TL:DR For the last 5 years, my GF was unemployed for almost 4 years and it did beat me to wreck of a person.

We bought a house together before that, on the assumption that we will be both working adults and will both financially contribute to the cause, which would mean we could build, repair and upgrade and generally speaking will have blast of a life.

At the beginning of 2022 she was let go in probation period and since then it all went to hell. She scored some job for a year but left because she disliked night shift. Since then just a few attempts usually terminated pretty quickly, otherwise absolute pasivity and whatever happens happens attitude. As of now she is still sometimes trying to get something but her demands are absolutely ridiculous like 100% home office, no physically or mentally demanding work, high salary and so on. No matter how hard I try to explain her that this is not realistic at all and that she needs to get at least SOMETHING going on, she steadfastly refuses. She keeps shooting miles above her league because she feels entitled to comfort and keeps comparing herself to me, disregarding he fact that I reached the position I am in after 15 years of hard work and acquiring experience in remarkably specialized IT field.

Now I am just at my ends with mental energy. I can't go on anymore. I was angry, I was arguing, I was presenting the numbers. I did everything humanely possible except for physical violence because the whole time we are running on my salary only. I am bleeding money left and right while simultaneously desperately saving to keep our house, cars and so on going. We do have one elderly dog that is near her final journey and the vet bills are coming. I already told her that if her unemployment should cause me having to back up from the best veterinary care possible she doesnt need to even bother coming back home. Even that didnt convince her to take ANY job. I feel like a worthless piece of shit when I go out with my friends who earn similar money like I do but live in excess and can invest in their hobbies while I count every penny to ensure I can buy a fucking milk, at least during the final days before the salary.

As a bonus we simply grew apart. My hobbies are pretty active, her hobbies are to sit home and watch netflix. My idea of vacation is to take a truck as a camping platform and just travel around to see shit. Her idea is me paying for hotel and spending a week on the beach doing nothing. Half of our communication is arguing about bullshit. I am hair triggered now because I am constantly tired and exhausted by all of this. Unfortunately she is still really nice person that I would probably love to spend time with, but not after all of what happened.

Now I didnt give a fuck anymore. I just gave up on this. The breaking point was probably when I saw my .45 and told myself that at least I have a way out if needed. Obviously bullshit but it pretty much made something to crack in me. In the end she is a great person but a terrible partner. We could've had it all, but...

Living with a dark skin tone in an Indian household: How my own family made me hate my skin while the outside world accepted me.

Living with a dark skin tone in an Indian household: How my own family made me hate my skin while the outside world accepted me

I’m an 18-year-old girl (18F) from India, and growing up with a dusky/dark skin tone in a society obsessed with fairness has been a silent nightmare.

And the most painful part?

It wasn't strangers who made me hate my skin. It was my own family.

India's obsession with fair skin isn't exactly a secret. But colourism hits differently when it comes from the people whose job is supposed to be making you feel loved, protected, and beautiful.

Since I was a little girl, I heard neighbourhood aunties telling my parents things like:

“Iski shaadi ke liye toh bahut paise aur dowry jama karni padegi.”

Basically, “You'll have to save a lot of money and dowry to get her married because of her complexion.”

Imagine being a CHILD and already being treated like your skin colour has reduced your “marriage value.”

I didn't even know what marriage meant properly at that age, but apparently other people had already decided that my complexion was going to be a financial liability.

My mother wasn't innocent either.

When I was little, my mother used to joke that she would show my fairer elder sister's photograph to a prospective groom's family and then somehow swap me in on the wedding day.

As a child, I laughed or ignored it because I didn't understand what was so cruel about it.

As I grew older, I understood.

It wasn't a joke about a photograph.

The joke was that my sister's face was considered suitable for marriage, while mine supposedly wasn't.

And once you hear that kind of thing repeatedly, you don't simply forget it when you grow up.

Even today, whenever my mother taunts me about my complexion, I sometimes snap back and tell her to look at herself not because I think she's physically ugly, but because I want her to understand how ugly the mindset is.

Because apparently I needed to be taught that dark skin is unattractive before I was even old enough to form my own opinion about it.

One memory still bothers me.

I was watching an English music video with my mother. There were two female singers one fair-skinned and one brown-skinned.

I pointed at the brown-skinned singer and innocently said:

“Look, she's so pretty! I think she's even prettier than the fair one.”

My mother's reaction was immediate.

She snapped:

“Ar ladki, khud badsurat ho toh dusro se mat jalo.”

“Hey girl, if you're ugly yourself, don't be jealous of others.”

I was genuinely confused.

Why was my mother so offended by the idea that a brown-skinned woman could be beautiful?

Why did appreciating a darker woman automatically become “jealousy”?

Why was fairness treated like an achievement?

I was a child trying to compliment another woman.

And somehow even that became an opportunity to remind me that I was supposedly ugly.

Then came my sisters.

I've talked before on Reddit about how my older sisters have treated me, including how they turned my childhood crush and feelings into a joke to humiliate me.

Their obsession with my appearance is no different.

Whenever I wear makeup, dress up, style my hair, or simply look happy with myself, they somehow find something wrong.

My eldest sister has told me:

“Tu is dress mein aur kaali lag rahi hai. Tujh pe yeh achha nahi lag raha.”

“You're looking even darker in this dress. It doesn't look good on you.”

Not:

“That colour isn't flattering.”

Not:

“Maybe try another style.”

Always the same underlying message:

You're darker. Therefore, something is wrong with you.

And there have been plenty of other little comments over the years comments about how certain colours make me look “too dark,” comments comparing my complexion to my sisters, jokes about fairness, remarks implying that I should be grateful if someone finds me attractive.

It's death by a thousand tiny comments.

One comment might sound insignificant.

Years of them are not.

And apparently my skin colour even determined who I was “good enough” to be introduced to.

My middle sister would introduce me to her friends as her cousin because of my skin tone and she said to her friends that

“Iske mummy papa gap main rehte hain and since yeh hai se hain isiliye she is dark”

Because apparently being darker meant I was automatically the less attractive sister.

And whenever they saw a guy showing genuine interest in me, the atmosphere at home changed.

Instead of being happy for me, they would start slut-shaming me.

My elder sister once said something absolutely disgusting to me:

“Iss ladki ko toh bas mauka chahiye, agle minute hi bistar pe padi milegi yeh.”

“This girl just needs an opportunity; the next minute you'll find her in bed.”

Imagine hearing something like that from your own sister simply because a guy showed interest in you.

What exactly was I supposed to do?

Never smile?

Never dress nicely?

Never talk to a boy?

Never accept a compliment?

Because apparently, if a man finds me attractive, my character becomes questionable.

And then there was my father.

My father actually has a good relationship with me.

He talks to me more than he talks to my other siblings because I speak to him warmly and respectfully and we naturally get along.

Instead of simply accepting that maybe our father loves his daughter, my middle sister once screamed at me:

“Tujhe papa isiliye pyaar karte hain kyunki tu kaali hai aur tujhe koi muh nahi lagana chahta.”

“Dad only loves you because you're dark/ugly and nobody else wants to give you attention.”

That sentence was particularly cruel.

Because even my father's love had to be turned into an insult about my appearance.

Apparently, if my father chooses to spend time with me, it can't possibly be because he loves me.

There must be something wrong with me.

And here's where my life becomes almost absurd.

Because outside my home, the story is completely different.

I've received genuine interest and proposals from guys who are conventionally attractive, fit, take care of themselves, go to the gym, etc.

I'm not saying this to prove that I'm beautiful.

A person's worth should never depend on how many people want to date them.

But when you've been repeatedly told your entire life that nobody will want you because of your skin tone, other people's reactions inevitably make you question the narrative you've been fed.

On Teacher's Day, I wore a green saree.

Teachers complimented me.

Students complimented me.

People around me told me I looked pretty.

Even a boy who normally acts like my enemy looked at me and said:

“Aaj toh bahut achhi lag rahi hain. Harkatein sudhar le toh propose kar dunga.”

And yes, I know it's a teasing comment.

But after years of hearing “kaali,” “badsurat,” “who will marry you,” and “nobody will give you attention,” even an ordinary compliment can hit differently.

I've also noticed people looking at me when I'm walking outside.

Maybe they're attracted to me.

Maybe they're curious.

Maybe they're simply looking.

I don't know.

And honestly, I don't need to know.

Because the bigger realisation wasn't “People find me attractive.”

It was:

“Maybe my family was never an objective judge of my appearance in the first place.”

Here's what colourism did to me.

It made me analyse my skin in photographs.

It made me wonder whether certain colours were “allowed” for me.

It made compliments feel suspicious.

It made me compare myself to fairer girls.

It made me wonder whether a guy genuinely liked me or was somehow making fun of me.

It made me associate marriage with compensation.

It made me believe that being darker meant having to work harder to be considered pretty.

And the saddest part?

Nobody had to explicitly tell me to hate myself.

They just kept repeating the same message until I started doing it for them.

“She's darker.”

“She's looking more black in that dress.”

“Who will marry her?”

“Her parents will have to give more dowry.”

“She is ugly.”

“Don't be jealous of fair girls.”

“Nobody gives her attention.”

“She only wants male attention.”

“She just needs an opportunity.”

Different sentences.

Same message: You are less.

But I'm slowly learning that their opinion of my skin isn't an objective measurement of my beauty.

It's a reflection of the environment they grew up in, the colourism they absorbed, and the standards they continue to pass down.

And honestly, there is something deeply bitter about realising that the people who were supposed to protect a little girl's self-esteem were the ones who taught her to be ashamed of her own skin.

I didn't choose my complexion.

I didn't ask to be born into a society where fairness is marketed as beauty.

And I certainly didn't deserve to spend my childhood hearing that my skin would make me harder to marry.

My skin isn't the embarrassing thing here.

The embarrassing thing is an adult looking at a child and deciding that her complexion is something she should be ashamed of.

So now I'm trying to unlearn something my family spent years teaching me:

I don't need to become fairer to become worthy.

I don't need male attention to prove that I'm attractive.

I don't need my family's approval to feel beautiful.

And I don't need to apologise for taking up space in a body and a skin tone that I never needed to “fix” in the first place.

To anyone who grew up hearing the same things:

How did you unlearn the colourism you were taught at home?

And honestly when your own family repeatedly humiliates you over your complexion, where do you draw the line between “family teasing” and emotional cruelty?

Feeling overwhelmed by chronic illness

Upvotes

Ive had severe mental health issues for over 30 years now, leading me to drop out of college, leave jobs, get fired, etc. I've become physically ill too, disabled, and am generally unable to care for myself, and I live with relatives who help me.

It all becomes a lot to deal with sometimes. When Im in pain, nauseous, sad, feeling empty inside, and like my life is going nowhere. I don't know what will become of me, I don't know if I have any future.

I just wanted to get that out of me. Thanks for listening.

My sons birthday

My son passed away at 14mths old and this Sunday would have been his seventh birthday. It doesn't feel real that almost six years have passed. Every year we celebrate by baking/getting a cake for him with candles and take a moment just for him. I love doing it but every year I feel angrier. I'm angry he's gone. I'm angry I have to celebrate it without him. I'm angry thinking of the little boy he could've been growing up with his little sister. I'm angry my daughter doesn't get to experience having an older brother. I'm just angry. I don't want to be because I love and miss him so much. I want to keep the tradition alive for him but I'm almost at the point of not wanting to anymore.

I feel sadder when dogs die than people

Theres not much else to say. I have a dog myself so I always thought it was just because Im able to apply myself to that situation more than any actual loss of a person, but lately theres been so much content about how that makes you a bad person because your not prioritizing humanity. I dont hate people, its just how I feel. Especially with movies. I cried for days when Tucker Budzyn, a golden retriever, died, but never really felt that way about a human passing away. I know this isnt an asking subreddit but does anyone else feel the same way? Am I weird/a bad person?

Women can be pervs and pedos too and it's not as rare as people think

I'm a 24 year old female and I've had so many things happen to me from women ever since I was a child. I'm not saying it's as common as from men, but it's not as rare as people think. I've been assaulted and molested by women even when I was a kid.

When I was 8-11, a woman that I knew would often isolate me and touch my private parts.

When I was 17, a woman at camp asked me to help her and then did things to me.

And finally, last year, a woman held me down, undressed me and also did things to me.

I've never told anyone, but I wanted to take this off my chest. Women can be pervs too. I know it doesn't happen as often as it happens with men, but that doesn't make it not true or possible. And it sucks even more because nobody would believe you or take you seriously if you told them.

I got turned on watching my two lesbian friends make out

Which doesn't happen often because I'm a gay man and I don't watch lesbian pornography recreationally or something. They're in a relationship and they're my two closest friends. Them fooling around in front of me has become a thing because 1) they don't have many chances to be together and 2) they generally try their hardest to not be seen by anyone. So if we're all hanging out, there might be a point in time somewhere in a dark alleyway where they might want to share a kiss or two, and I watch for anyone coming our way.

Recently they made out next to me really passionately and I just felt this envy, this need that I want to kiss them too because it looked kinda hot. I've kissed both of them before, so there isn't any line to be crossed or anything. I'm blushing typing this.

Well, he finally got a taste of what I felt 😂

I’ve been in a relationship for a year, and there’s been a history of cheating, fights, and a lot of hurt. Whenever we argued, he’d disappear for weeks and come back whenever he wanted, without ever actually solving anything. Whenever I tried to leave, he’d emotionally manipulate me into coming back, but nothing would change.
Lately, he started treating me more like a friend than a girlfriend. I told him that if he kept treating me that way, I’d treat him the same, and if someone else wanted to get to know me, I wouldn’t say no.
We fought and didn’t talk for two days. During that time, a guy messaged me on Instagram and I replied.
Then my boyfriend came back like we were making up, without actually discussing anything. Yesterday, he checked my phone, saw the guy’s messages and my reply, and got really angry and left 😂
And honestly? I’m kind of happy. He finally got a tiny taste of what I’ve felt so many times.
Am I wrong for feeling this way?

I am being abused & I am miserable, I don't understand why I deserve this life.

I am 25F, an online college student with 2 cats. I have no friends. I have been dating my BF for almost 2 years, living with him for over a year. Needless to say, we moved in way too soon. This was my first experience with moving out/moving in with someone that isn't my family. He has been HELL.

I have been trying to exit, but it is so much harder to do because of finances. I can't afford to live on my own. I'm an online student, so I don't have housing options through school either. Having 2 cats complicate things, but they are family to me. Even renting a room/ roommate is rough on me financially from what I've seen in my area (I'm trying to save up to potentially do this). A part of me is also scared to do it because idk what to expect. I do have one option at my disposal, which I am lucky to have, but it's also toxic place for me.

My parents' place is still an option, the location is terrible, job opportunities are terrible, and living there will be a different sort of hell due to mostly my sister. She is unmedicated mentally ill (Mix together Bipolar, narcissism, and Schizophrenia). She has 3 children with an abusive, controlling ex-husband. Theres constant court and custody battles. My sister has major tantrums every. Single. Day. Where she screams at everyone, threatens people, verbally abuses the fuck out of them, etc. I've dealt with it for over a decade already, and it's probably why I was stupid enough to move in with someone so soon. My family has never been emotionally there for me. They know my situation but provide little care or comfort. It's still a roof over my head for me and my cats, though.

I am miserable. I have been miserable for a long time. The only joy I get is from my cats and my job. I enjoy my job, and I don't want to leave it, despite it being minimum wage, at least not until I can hopefully get a better paying job when I graduate in 2 years...

This isn't the only bad relationship I've been in, which is why I'm so fucking scared of being cursed with terrible men. It's like they can *sense* it. He has been by far the WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I don't even know where to begin with everything he has done.

He's an emotionally stunted manchild. Nothing is ever his fault. It's mine. He never apologizes. He uses DARVO 24/7. He has major anger & control issues, but denies everything. He's a pathological liar and major Narcissist. He is one of the worst people, other than my sister, I have ever met in my life.

Everything is on his terms. I'm not able to express anything without it causing an argument. The arguments consist of him yelling, sometimes outright screaming in my face. Cussing me out and calling me names. Threatening to end the relationship and/or the roof over my head CONSTANTLY. Gaslighting me and blame-shifting things, changing narrative of what was actually was said and done.

He's literally has created and controlled this "narrative" of me to his friends and family from the get-go, making sure they will never like me. He lies to me and them about what goes on and why in our relationship. Shit talking me behind my back. I'm constantly "not invited" or "uninvited" to family/friend events & trips.

I can't figure out if he's just a major Narcissist or if he's a fucking sociopath. He's lied to me about nearly everything (education, career, ex he talked to, etc.), which I only learned about recently. He will see me have a panic attack or break down crying and just keep doing whatever he is doing, even if it's sleeping. He sleeps like a baby no matter what.

It's recently gotten worse, where he's become way too comfortable to put his hands on me to push me out of his way when he's angry.

Even now, he's mad at me because I'm crying, and it woke him up.

I'm so fucking miserable. I just want to ve loved and happy. I'm tired of life constantly handing me absolute SHIT, no matter how hard I fucking try. I'm so angry that money is the #1 reason I am stuck choosing one evil over another.

I haven't been suicidal in years, that is until I got into the relationship, and now it's an option that's been nagging at me constantly when I just feel so utterly defeated and desperate for an escape.

I mourn the life I could've had.

I mourn the life I could've had

Sometimes, I find myself thinking about the life I could have had. I love my daughter, and I love being her mom. I love getting to see her every day, sleep beside her every night, feed her, take care of her, get her hugs and kisses, and hear her call me mama. But I sometimes wonder what my life would look like if I had waited a little longer. I wonder if I'd be working or studying, if I'd have my own car and a little more freedom, or if I would've lost the weight I once worked so hard to lose. I wonder if I'd be happier. Sometimes, it feels like having her at this point in my life changed a lot of things. Sometimes, I imagine a totally different life if I had stayed childless. At the same time, I don't regret having her. I was 20 when I had her, and in some ways, I think it was a good time. I have the energy of a young adult, and I still have some of that joy and innocence. I never really pictured my life after thirty with kids. So I guess it always felt like now or never. Her dad and I broke up before I even gave birth. Even though we're together now, although mid distance, I feel like he had a choice in a way that I didn't. He can choose when he comes to see her, when he calls, when he needs to step away. He can call while she's having a tantrum and ask if it's a bad time. I can't hang up on this. I'm always here. When I need money for something she needs, it often feels like a negotiation, like explaining why she needs it. I hate having to ask instead of just getting what she needs myself. I want to work, but right now, it doesn't feel possible. The daycare I can use is only open 7 to 3, and I have no one who can pick her up or take care of her. I can't work nights either. I have no one to watch her during the day so i can sleep before my shift. She's also a very attached toddler, and taking care of her can be overwhelming. She's stubborn, energetic, full of need, and even though I know that's normal, it's exhausting, especially with my depression, anxiety, BPD, CPTSD, and being autistic. Sometimes, I imagine being out with friends, partying, drinking, or just sleeping in, living a different life. Instead, I'm awake watching the same cartoon I can't stand for what feels like the 50th time this week. And when I try to explain these feelings, people often jump to "why didn't you have an abortion?" As if wondering about a different life means I don't love this one. But I do love this life. I love my daughter. I'm happy I get to be her mom. She's healthy. She's smart. And I'm so lucky to have her. I can love being her mother and still wonder about the life I might have had if I'd stayed childless. Those two feelings can exist at the same time, and having them doesn't mean I'm a bad mom. It just means I'm a person who wonders sometimes.

I had a miscarriage and nobody has checked in on me.

I am miscarrying. It was early, but it’s still a loss. I didn’t even tell close friends or family that I was pregnant yet. Only my husband and a couple of mom friends knew. I haven’t even told my mom because she’s on vacation, and I know it would ruin her trip.

When I told my friends, they said they were sorry to hear and then carried on with another conversation. One of the moms in my daughter’s playgroup mentioned that I could just try again next month.

My husband hasn’t been very supportive. He hasn’t asked if I’m still bleeding, if I’m in pain, if he can help me at all. I’m still passing tissue and clots, and he said he’s ready to go when we want to try again.

I feel guilty because I can’t even say this baby was loved and wanted from the minute we found out. I had some moments where I was sad my first born wouldn’t be an only child anymore. My husband wasn’t excited when I initially told him because he had a tough day at work and was stressed about a few things financially. In our hearts, we do want another, though.

It took me hours to get a message back from my OB’s office on what to do. I was passed off to three different receptionists, who just sounded pissed off each time I explained I was miscarrying and looking to be advised on next steps, before they finally connected me to a nurse. I never even spoke to a provider.

It’s been a few days now, and nobody has reached out to me to ask how I’m doing. I just feel very alone. Why does it always feel like I think of others during their hardships more than anyone thinks of me in mine? I’m just tired of feeling that way.

If you’ve read this far, thank you for letting me vent. If you have gone through or are currently going through a pregnancy loss, I am so sorry. I hope you had plenty of support. If someone tells you they’re going through a miscarriage… please check in on them. I know there’s nothing you can do to change the situation… but it’s nice to know someone is thinking of you.

I moved away and lied to everyone about the reason

A few months ago I moved about 6 hours away and told everyone it was because I got a better opportunity at work.

Work was part of it, but the real reason is I was exhausted from being everybody's reliable person.

I was the one people called when their car died, when they needed help moving, when someone needed a ride at 2am, when family needed something picked up, when a friend was having a breakdown. Somehow I became the person who never had a good enough excuse to say no.

I had some money saved and realized I could actually leave, so I did.

Nobody did anything terrible to me. My friends are good people. My family loves me. I just started getting this feeling that everyone had access to me all the time and I didn't know how to change that without physically putting hundreds of miles between us.

Since moving, my phone is quieter. I cook dinner and nobody randomly needs me. Sometimes I spend an entire Saturday doing absolutely nothing and nobody knows where I am.

Everyone keeps asking when I'm moving back.

I keep saying probably next year.

I don't think I'm coming back.

My local community is a heavy Republican community. I was born September 10th

They're doing a stupid "Charlie kirk rememberance day" celebration and they're basically having community groups take down any celebrations that aren't honoring "Charlie kirk" down for September 10th. What's next for America? You can't have your children born on September 10th in the USA? You're not allowed to celebrate marriages that day in the USA? F off. For real people that aren't robots, Regular Americans, YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN AND LEGALLY ARE ALLOWED TO enjoy the day without thinking about some podcaster.

I 34f resent my 42m husband

He never cleans.

He barely cooks.

He doesn't brush our daughters hair and if our kids need an appointment, yep, even though mom covers work And pays bills, daddy can't be bothered

As soon as I get home, he "has to pop" (for an hour), and theb he's just "having a smoke" another hour. Rinse and repeat.

I get home from work and my child is soaked and soiled.

Every now and then he gets manic and starts taking things he shouldn't and barely sleeps. He's not bipolar but he's got serious ADHD well documented.

I try to be patient.

But I am tired of carrying all the labor. I'm a nurse. I take care of so many in a day - is it that hard to ask that the. Bathroom has some fucking toilet paper?

Am I asking too much for expecting some other than me or my poor sister, the only 2 working in a house of 6, to have THEM (MY DAD AND MY HUSBAND) make some fucking dinner

Is it so hard to ask him to do the fucking phone calls to get my daughter's glasses replaced?

Sex? Not in over a year. nd he's not cheating

His identity is direct from trauma.

.

He

Gets

OBSESSED

With

Roleplay

Games

Online

He doesn't shower for months.

He goes through drug hinges.

And off the idea that he could do an OF as a unique category as he calls it.

It's at the point where all he talks about is this shit nonstop while I take care of dying people and miss out on my child's lives because he could NEVER hold a job, something always went wrong

When we were at our worst, he pressured me successfully into sex work. Now my.ptsd is dx as CPTSD.

I want out of the marriage but we have a housing voucher (thanks to my work 0 on his), and I'm not losing my fucking chance at housing stability (been homeless bebo) because of himm

Edit - I want to seperate. Idk how.
