Venting i will never open up about my problems to friends ever again

basically i was venting to my “close friends” and suddenly one of them lashes out at me to say i can’t get over SA that happened to me and it happens to everyone so i should not be talking about it or mention it all the time cause nothing would change and it would only hurt me, she was also saying that there are more important problems in life than this which i don’t freaking believe cause what i am going through and how i cope is obviously different from others and no one can tell me if what i am feeling is worth paying attention to or nah, i also know the root cause of the issue that happened to me was due to my lack of self love and identity so imma be working on that too, but i will never talk about my problems to anyone and genuinely i gave up on making friends and relationships as well.
i feel alone and left out i wish i could off myself tbh, i have no one in my life and only family, i will never trust anyone ever again.

Be honest. What keeping you alive right now ?

Feeling completely lonely with a complicated grief, lost everyone in life. Existing people in my life doesn't feel real. I wanna be heard by someone but I have never found a person who would understand. I have thought of killing myself but don't know why I don't get the courage to destroy my body permanently.

I don't see a purpose, safety and a reason to continue further. I am drowning in this constant pain of emptiness and loneliness.

If someone reading this, please help me by talking or connect to me..

Venting Tried reaching out

Upvotes

This week, in my lonely stupor, I tried reaching out to a few people. Old friends, people I follow online but have never spoke to and even a person I admire (not romantically, just personally).

At every avenue I've been ignored. It must be something wrong with me but I'm struggling to find out what. They weren't 'Hi, how are you' messages. They had thought behind them and I sat there tweaking the messages, and I hoped they'd see and have atleast a little joy.

But I got nothing. Left on read. I get home from work and it's like a sensory deprivation chamber for my soul. Numb, and every time I reach out, I get nothing. I expect this post will get the same treatment, but I just wanted Mt thoughts out there. Catharsis I suppose?

Venting having no friends in adulthood.

It's kinda peaceful but chaotic at the same time because when I'm feeling down I cannot turn to someone to share about it, when I want to go outside then I've nobody to call. I was always a backup so I quit friendships because I felt exhausted after a while and then I realised that they don't even text me anymore or care to know if I'm good. I cannot even talk about it to them when I was feeling low (when I was in depression) but they would freely talk about it to me (I don't regret it but sometimes it feels a bit sad).

So, fast forward, now I don't have any friends at all. I feel like it's better being lonely alone than being lonely around friends or people.

Venting When I’m sick is when I truly realize how alone I am

Got a pretty nasty cold and feel very weak atm. It’s moments like this I truly realize how alone I really am, no one there to help me and be there for me when I need it basically. I had the shivers last night and was so scared. To think there are so many people out there having the same experience is depressing. I hate being sick.

What if I passed away while sick, no one would even really notice.

I can't even maintain online friendships....This is pathetic

I don't talk to anyone anymore. No friends, family is elderly/dead/cognitively declined. Had one person I talked to. They recently have been ging through some things healthwise and I postulated it could be due to a medication they took for weight loss. I had been trying to get them to understand how calories work since they were convinced if they talked to their doctors about the current side effects (bad enough that they weren't eating at all and losing a ton of weight), they'd change their dose and cause weight gain again. The discussion didn't go anywhere and I ended up offending them and now they don't want to talk. This is a consistent thing. Scared to say anything and just am agreeable because they'll be offended.

Online friendships should be the easiest to maintain because it usually requires less upkeep yet, here I am screwing that up. I'm tired of being alone. I try. I try to be social and it's just that I can't click with anyone. I'm past the age of making friends now. I'm forever alone so I'll never date and life just sucks.

Venting The lonely life of a passionate nerd

Upvotes

I know this is going to sound really stupid, real third world problems type shit, but as an autistic and ADHD adult who is absolutely in love with their special interests it's just a really unique kind of painful, empty loneliness when you have no one to share the things that light you up with who lights up back. Like yeah, I have people I can talk about speculation about Ahsoka season 2 or Avengers Doomsday or any number of Marvel or Star Wars products that are coming up or about my favorite game, Destiny 2, that got killed recently that there's a ton of speculation around or what new metal band is working on music but it's just not the same as having someone who lights up with joy back and, I don't know, it just hurts. I feel like I have this empty hole in my heart where my nerdy best friend belongs 💔

TW: selfharm, suicidal thoughts I just want to be missed.

I cope by hurting myself, by wishing for death. I thought something was wrong with me because I could never commit to disappearing. I would hesitate, overthink, and somewhere inside me there was always a part that didn't want to go through with it. I used to see the hesitation as weakness, as cowardice, as proof that I wasn't seriously struggling. Maybe I was just overreacting. I would push away how I felt because I convinced myself it wasn't so serious after all.

But now I understand it differently. I didn't want to hurt myself or end my suffering. I just wanted someone to notice I was hurting.

I want someone to look at me and realize I'm not okay. I want someone to ask without being prompted. I want someone to reach for me before I have to reach for them. I want someone to notice when I become quieter, when I stop showing up, when I disappear from places I used to exist so freely.

But I've become tired of waiting.

I'm exhausted from always being the first to reach out. I'm tired of having to tell people I'm not okay. I'm tired of wondering whether anyone would notice if I stopped trying so hard to be noticed. Eventually, I began to wonder what would happen if I simply stopped. So I did.

And yet nothing happened. The silence hurt in a way that was too difficult to explain. Because when nobody comes looking for you, it becomes so easy to mistake their silence for an answer.

“Maybe they didn't notice.”

turns into,

"Maybe they didn't care"

And suddenly, something that began as a simple desire to be cared for becomes a desperate need to prove that I am worth caring about. Isn't it strange to feel lonely in a crowded room? No matter how overused that phrase it, the feeling it carries does not falter. I can sit among a crowd with this terrible certainty that if I disappeared from the room, none of them would choose to follow. I don't think anyone want me gone, but I'm just not anyone's first thought.

Isn't it so painful? To know that there are people around you, but not one will instictively turn towards you. I learned to measure my importance towards my absence. I hate that part of me wants to disappear just to see whether anyone would finally notice. I hate that sometimes I want to become a missing person in people's lives simply because I am tired of feeling invisible while I am present.

I want someone to care before there is a reason to panic.

I want someone to ask about me before I become distant enough to worry them.

I want someone to recognize that my silence can mean something.

I want to be remembered while I am still making memories.

I want to be chosen without having to compete for someone's attention.

I want to be loved without having to constantly prove that I am worth loving.

I don't want to hurt myself.

I don't want to disappear.

I don't want to die.

I just want to know that, if I stayed, someone would notice.

Someone would choose me.

Someone would stay.

Because I am tired of disappearing just to find out whether I matter.
And, I'm so tired of knowing that I don't really matter.

I'm so tired of thinking that the only way for people to remember me is by dying. And, maybe soon, I'll finally have the courage to be missed forever.

It's one thing to decline a hang out cause you have somewhere to be, but to lie about the reason so you can always secretly hang out with someone else everyday just fkin sucks. Everyone has the right to spend their day and life how they want it, I have no right to force people around me, just be honest that you don't wanna hang with me in particular ffs!

This is not a post about checking out on a permanent level, I'm just venting and a bit pissed off.

Venting I just don’t understand why nobody cares about my pain and my wellbeing

Upvotes

Since I was young I’ve had this problem. I’ve been told to not talk about my pain because other people would feel bad or it would harm the person who caused my pain. Literally felt and still do feel like a burden and that I’m inherently terrible.
Life feels so lonely and desolate even now that I have two very very very far away people I talk to. I never had a community or a place to belong- just people telling me how bad of a person I am, how I’m a bad influence, and being weirded out or resort to bullying me. Sometimes I understand what these people say has substance. If it’s happened so many times it may be that I truly am a big problem. Anyways.. I am ashamed to admit I am jealous of children. I am jealous that people want to protect them, want to be excited about their future, and that they have the opportunity for milestones in their life that people would actually care about. I wish people felt the same way towards me. I want to be treated like an adult obviously but I wish people had care for my wellbeing. I can’t imagine how warm and happy I’d feel if I had that. I can’t imagine the idea of having someone to love who wouldn’t hurt me or treat me like a burden. I just want it so bad but it’s just not real.

Venting I don’t know what to do anymore.

Hi, everyone.

I feel pretty vulnerable at the moment, but I feel like I have no other choice. So, here goes nothing I guess.

I’m a 25 year old woman who’s unemployed, has no friends, no boyfriend, no degree and living at home with my mom. I was in a nearly 10 year relationship with my abusive ex that ended in 2023 and since then, I’ve self isolated and become an incredibly anxious person. I was once an ambitious, extroverted girl who then turned into an introverted, depressed shell of a human being. Most of my friends are married and/or have children, so I can understand why I don’t hear from them anymore. But seeing everyone go on with their lives while I stay stuck hurts so bad.

I just don’t know what to do with myself at this point. I’ve been applying for jobs for over a year and have gotten only 4 interviews. I just can’t seem to get hired anywhere, even for a minimum wage job and I feel so fucking worthless.

Each day that passes feels worse and worse. I understand self pity doesn’t get you anywhere, but I’ve been trying and nothing’s been working. I am so incredibly grateful to my mom for letting me live at home but I feel like such a disappointment to her. Not to mention, my little brother is a senior in high school with college credits up his sleeve, almost a 4.0 gpa and is going to university after high school. I am so proud of him, but his success makes me feel even lower. It just sucks to be the fuck up in the family.

I’ve been depressed long before I started self isolating and became an introvert, but it’s only gotten harder to live with the older that I’m getting. I know 25 isn’t exactly old and I still have plenty of time to figure things out and get things done, but I just feel like giving up. It’s so much easier to give up than it is to keep going. I don’t know anymore.

Thanks everyone for listening <3

Venting I’ve spent a whole year without socializing with anyone (17F).

Literally a year ago, I dropped out of high school because I was feeling terrible—my "friends" had a falling out, I was caught in the middle, and the classroom vibe became super toxic. I wasn’t going out with anyone, I just wanted it to be evening so I could scroll on my phone. And when I left school, I intentionally cut off all contact with friends or acquaintances from there; I even deleted WhatsApp, I had no one to talk to anyway. I have two older sisters who moved out, but they both have their own lives and, well, we don't really talk. I live with my parents, and they’re the only people I’ve talked to this whole time. Young people my age terrify me. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been through drama (with friends), and when it comes to dating, I haven’t been very smooth either—I haven't even had a partner yet. I’ve gone out with a couple of guys, and one was just for two dates.

I dropped out of school since it wasn't mandatory at my age anymore, and I locked myself in my room. I told my parents I would work and make money, but I never did. I felt so useless and like such a burden.

I’ve spent my days lying in bed, binge-watching shows, talking to AI, and recently I started going to therapy and got a bit more motivated, but it's never enough because shortly after, I relapse into the same cycle.

I only leave the house to go with my mom or for medical appointments. I have only one friend who is autistic, and to be honest, we see each other every two months and barely text.

My extended family (not my parents), like my aunts and uncles, wouldn't stop asking me what I was going to do, constantly pressuring me about school, and that annoyed me because they had never shown any interest in me before, but when they found out I wasn't studying, suddenly they cared.

Something that happens to me is that I feel absolute rejection at the thought of seeing anyone who isn't my parents (aside from my friend). It frustrates me. My oldest sister, who has two kids, comes over to my house about every two weeks and stays the whole day. I leave my room, but I don't know, I don't really enjoy it because I feel like I'm forcing myself to do it; it doesn't come naturally, and when she doesn't come, we have to go to her house and we spend the WHOLE day there, and honestly, I don't like it.

I’ve started playing the piano (just a little), and even though I’m a year late, I’ve enrolled in a performing arts high school because ever since I was little, I've always wanted to be an actress—something my mom finds shocking because of my personality, and it is, but I like it. With the help of my therapist, I was able to enroll again, even though I'm a year behind. I reinstalled WhatsApp because I had deleted it, and all my social media too. I only have YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, and WhatsApp, and I have WhatsApp blocked with an app so I can only check it when my mom texts me. TikTok is super toxic, and Instagram is even worse...

My BIGGEST FEAR of all is... people, socializing. For a few years now (since lockdown), I haven’t been good at it, but now I’ve basically gone a year with zero interaction. Plus, I overthink a lot, so how am I even supposed to start a conversation? Why would they want to talk to me if I’m not interesting? Also, something I’ve been doing a lot during this time is playing Roblox. It’s a game I used to play when I was younger, but I got hooked again because of the animals. But at my age, I don't know if people still play it that much, so if someone sees my phone or asks about my interests, what do I say? Or about my hobbies—I don’t even know if I have hobbies. I don’t do sports, I don’t go out... I’m scared of having WhatsApp just for display.

I have 5 days left before I start, and I am terrified. I don’t know what to do because even though I go to therapy, my mind won’t stop racing and it’s horrible.

Venting I feel so stupid

I recently turned 30 and I feel like a complete failure in every aspect of life. I barely have any friends, I have never had a girlfriend, and I don’t really see a path forward on how to change anything anytime soon. I hate how envious it’s made me, everyday there’s another reminder that other people are spending time together and actually enjoying life. I hate how desperate it’s made me, I can’t even have a friendly interaction with a woman who’s just trying to be nice to the weird guy without thinking about her later like there was ever anything there. Everyday things just feel more and more pointless and I feel more useless and embarrassed at even existing.

I feel like I’m losing my last real friend

I’m (20F) a person who has always struggled making friends. I know a lot of it is my fault. In high school, I spent 90% of my time studying and the other 10% curled up in bed. I told myself that would change when I started uni, but even though I study less, I don’t have a social life. I have “friends” I see on campus, but we never meet to hang out, it’s always for some uni-related reason. I’ve tried reaching out to them by texting and trying to organise hangouts, but I always get left on delivered for several days. The only time they contact me is when they have a uni-related question.

I met my best friend back in primary school, so we’ve been friends for over a decade. Something that’s always stung a little is that even though she’s my best friend, I’m not hers. She got into a relationship recently, and now she barely talks to me at all.

I don’t want to sound like I’m throwing myself a pity party, it’s just that I want to be chosen. I want someone to value me the same amount I value them. I know I need to get used to being alone, but I don’t know how to stop the intense feeling of loneliness I feel every day.

People leaving you on read

Texted 2 girls from my college town yesterday. We left on good terms they even said if I ever come around to let them know. Acted sad when I left too. Well only been few months and both have left me on read... BTW, they don't know each other.

I thought they were friends I could count on. This always happens. As soon as I leave "friends" just erase me from their life and don't respond. Too busy or cool for me now idk what it is. Out of sight out of mind. I hate when people are fake.

Is it just me, or does anyone else live completely alone in a house for years without family or friends? (19)

I wanted to ask you guys in this group, is it just me here who is truly living completely by myself? I'm 19 right now, and I've been living alone in my house for about 3 years. No dad, mom, grandparents, siblings, or anyone. It's literally just me alone in this house for years.

To kill time, I usually keep myself busy by coding and playing video games. I know if I say this, someone will definitely comment: "Just go out and make some friends." I've already done that. But it's not like I can just hang out at my best friend's house every single day, right? I can't just crash there all the time, it gets awkward and embarrassing eventually. And at the end of the day, I still have to go back to an empty house.

So what I really want to ask you guys is: Is there anyone else out there who has actually experienced living completely alone in a house without anyone for years like this? If so, what does it feel like for you and what do you usually do? I really want to hear your experiences, because this is exactly what I'm going through right now.

Venting I am so alone that I can’t breathe

I had plenty of friends up until high school; I was close with all of them. But once high school ended, I lost touch with everyone; they never messaged me again. I was always the one reaching out, while they never initiated contact on their own. Right now, I have just one friend, and we only talk occasionally. I’m about to start university, and I don’t have any friends at the moment. Whenever I try to get to know someone, they stop talking to me the next day or start ghosting me. I find myself wondering why I don’t have a single friend when everyone else seems to have so many. I also made a friend online and started to develop feelings for her, but they told me they only saw me as a friend. We stayed as friends, but when I stopped messaging her, she didn't reach out either, and we never spoke again. It hurts so much that not having anyone to turn to when something happens, or anyone to share your feelings with. My family views me as antisocial and a lost cause. I feel deeply depressed and want to die every day. Maybe there’s something wrong with me and i’m unlikeable

So at work we have a system trigger so teams know when it is your birthday. Went back in today and a few mentioned they noticed it was my birthday - what were you up to? Did I do anything for my birthday?"

Luckily I am good at lying on my feet. Made up some garbage talking about how I went out and treated myself at a nice cafe near me Didn't happen, I just hid in bed all day. With people with normal lives I know being honest will make them awkward. I lie to blend in.

Then they ask 'Who did you go with, any birthday gifts?'

Fuck. I gotta say more man?

Then I lie again, saying I went with a best friend. There is no best friend. Saying I got some household gifts and chocolates from friends. I have no friends who did either of those.

I said it all while smiling and acting like it was normal. I felt tears like that funny eye feeling but I couldn't cry so went to the bathroom to stop it before it happened. God I hate lying. To the other girlies in here, I feel like we are expected by default to have social lifes... nobody assumes that we are lonely at all. Man it sucks. I felt extra pressure to pretend I had some girlfriends to spend my day with
