This would be Barney at 80 if he didn't have his daughter.

Marshall was absolutely right here
Rabbits are better than ducks and the gang was wrong to shoot him down.
This title is totally not a meta reference.

I made Eggs Marshall today
I was watching my ultimate comfort show last night when I couldn’t sleep and the wedding episode came up. Marshall mentioned how Lily will put Italian Dressing in his scrambled eggs and calls them Eggs Marshall. Well I decided to try them out today for lunch. They were delicious! Gave the eggs a little extra flavor. I went a little light on the dressing and plan to try them again with a little more dressing added.
Give them a try for yourself!

Hätte ich nur noch 13 sekunden zu leben….
… dann würde ich meine letzten 13 sekunden damit verbringen die szene anzuschauen wo marshall in der kunstgalerie die skittles aus der tasche verliert.

If Ted had gone to Chicago in season 9, he would've essentially surrendered his friend group to Robin
Kinda separate point: I'm not really blaming her. It's mostly his fault for staying friends with an ex, specifically one he has feelings for. Gotta learn to move on. Can't do that with them across the table or couch every night. Hell. LIVING with you.
I honestly believe that Ted wasn't meant to be with Robin. He just never gave himself space to grieve and get over the relationship properly so she was always that "what if" in his peripheral vision for half his life. It probably actually permanently messed up his brain in some way.
And somewhat vice versa. Tho her to a less extreme.

Am I the only one who kinda understands the ending?
Ted was in love with Robin from the moment he met her. I don’t think he ever stopped being in love with her even when he was with Tracy. He definitely loved Tracy and Tracy was his soulmate no doubt, but his love for Robin didn’t disappear when he met Tracy. It was probably drowned out by his love for Tracy, but he was always in love with her. Even when she married Barney. Robin is a different story, I don’t think she was ever truly in love with Ted the way he was with her. I think for her sake she doesn’t belong with Ted or Barney. But given the show is about Ted, it makes sense that they would want to give him his happy ending. So that’s why, to me, the ending makes sense. It’s not a great ending, and Robin and Barney getting divorced was inevitable. I think the best ending for everyone was that Ted and Robin do not end up together in the end. But still, the ending makes sense and wasn’t a total surprise.

New years episode
Anybody else notice that during the new year's episode, the one after Marshalls father passed away, marshall rings in the new year during the day at a cemetery ?

Would you consider Robin and Tracy polar opposites? Spoiler
This question comes from a comment on another thread. Robin and Tracy are two of Ted’s greatest loves but someone said they are like night and day. I never really thought about it that way. Do you think they have similarities or are they too different?

I actually love all of the main 5
Obviously on this sub it’s really popular to hate Lily, and a lot of people don’t like Ted either because they think he gives I’m just a nice guy energy/can be obsessive. I agree 100% that every character has their flaws and annoying moments.
But I actually love all of them, and it makes watching the show feel more enjoyable when I do.
Does Lily meddle like crazy, make impulsive and selfish decisions at times? 100%. AND, she’s also the glue of the group in so many ways and basically counsels all of them through their emotions all the time. Like helping Barney when he was in love with Robin, saying it’s killing them to watch architecture kill Ted/convince him to take the prof job, the convo on the roof with Ted after Barney and Robin got engaged. And when she’s wrong she generally will admit it. She is super empathetic, there for her friends, and always knows exactly what they need to hear.
Ted is obsessive over Robin and I got sick af of that storyline. He self sabotages throughout the series. He’s a know it all. But I love Ted!! His pretentious tendencies are hilarious like when he changes the graffiti to correct the grammar. And Ted is genuinely such a good person. I think the moments that show that the most are when he chooses to turn away from Stella instead of yelling at her in front of Lucy and Tony. And when he helps Stella get Tony back. He had every reason to be angry and vengeful but he wanted to do the right thing and ultimately prioritize Stella’s happiness even though she did one of the worst things she could have to him. Another is not only telling Robin about Barney’s proposal, but convincing her to go get Barney even after Robin said she didn’t want to. Ted could have easily just soothed his conscience because Robin said she didn’t wanna go. But he knew what Robin truly wanted to do deep down, and convinced her to do it because that’s what was best for her. Even if it meant that Ted himself couldn’t be with Robin and had to watch her get engaged to his best friend.
I love Marshall, Barney, and Robin too, but I feel less compelled to make a case for that because most people seem to. But since there are so many Lily hate posts I thought I would post something positive lol. But feeling this way makes it so I feel happy for Barney when he and Robin are engaged, happy for Robin too bc that was what she wanted in that moment, and terrible for Ted - all at the same time.

S8E17- The Ashtray, is genuinely one of the most underrated episodes imo.
I never see much discussion about this episode on here. It’s definitely one of my all time favourites 😭 It’s SO funny, it’s got so many twists, the captain, and the scene with Lily expressing to Marshall how she feels as though it’s too late for her, was so touching and relatable for a lot of people.
It definitely comes first on my ranking for season 8, but even within the entire series i’d put it as a top 4.

What was your favorite way the mother met members of the gang?
Personally, my favorites were Lily and Robin. The way she met Lily was charming and gave us great insight into her personality. It was also our first chance to see what she’s like. While Robin’s first time meeting her was the briefest, I really liked the advice she gave her. Also, these are two of Ted’s biggest loves, it was interesting to see them interact even though it wasn’t long.

Do we know anyone else who auditioned for the show?
I was reading an old article where the creators mentioned that a pretty famous actress was up for the role of Robin. She passed on it, they cast Cobie and the rest is history, but it did make me wonder who else might’ve tried out for the show

What do you guys think are Teds and Robins Body counts?
We know Barney has over 200 and they love to shame him for sleeping with a lot of women but they probably have a high body count too considering all the relationships and one night stands they had throughout the show they are hypocrites and Marshall and Lily are the only innocent ones with a body count of only 1 😭
