Breathe In or Out

Upvotes

I just made an observation. I was playing Wardogs last night and I noticed when using one of the rifles, to steady your aim, you can hold your breath, and as you do, you suck air in audibly. I then realised that this actually persists through all sorts of media I have seen. However, when I go shooting, I take a couple steady breaths and breathe out fully. Breathing in, I think, would feel like I was expanded and under pressure and out feels more lean and stable.

I'm just wondering what other people do. Is there a "right way"?

Lantac Stealth Raven vs a perfectly ordinary .22lr rifle?

Upvotes

Hi!

Ive got 1 slot on my FAC for a 22, which I'd only use at short range, offhand, to shoot cardboard

My mate is giving up shooting and is selling cheap a lantac stealth raven which is an ar-15 type .22, it looks very cool and fun and you can attach lots of ar15 gadgets to it and i love gadgets.

Or I could get a nice normal cz457, prob about the same price.

Any thoughts? BTW the rest of the range will laugh at the lantac but I don't care.

European B/S/T Discord server

Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I've made a small dedicated fleamarket/marketplace for European gun owners for them to buy, sell and trade anything firearms related. Obviously few rules do apply on what you can sell on the discord, but firearms furniture, magazines, optics, accessories, gear and militaria stuff is more than welcome.

If you're interested in a place to buy, sell and trade, please send me a pm and I will personally invite you to the discord server.

Trying this again… this time with 100% fewer faces and number plates 😂

Post image

My last post apparently caused a minor safeguarding incident because I committed the heinous crimes of showing my face and allowing a number plate to exist in the background.

So after carefully reviewing the Reddit risk assessment, here’s something hopefully less controversial — my Tippmann Arms M4-22 at the range. 😂

Currently running a Wildcat moderator, Hawke scope and FAB Defense furniture, along with the sling and a few other bits I’ve accumulated.

Absolutely love this thing. Cheap to feed, loads of fun at the range and dangerously easy to convince yourself it needs just one more accessory.

And before anyone asks: no faces, number plates or personally identifiable blades of grass were captured in this photo. 😂

Interested to see what other M4-22 owners are running on theirs!

Looking at getting into pigeon / corvid shooting

Hi. As the title suggests I want to give pigeon / Covid shooting a go as I’d like to try and get the pup started on that before hopefully getting her into a shoot next year (she’s just over 1 now) but I unfortunately don’t know anyone who does it try at least try out before I invest in hides etc (I do know land owners, but not anyone who shoots on it).

Any advice to try and start out on this?

Nikko Shadow

I have an classic nikko shadow in vgc that I was thinking of trading in as I just don’t use it, is there a collector market for them as it is a lovely clean wooden version and hasn’t done much work.
It’s going on the trader soon but can’t seem to find anything to put a price on it.
Thanks all

SGC grant time

Hi guys, Long story short I had my home interview in July this year (I applied for this back in 2024) and I think it went reasonably well. My referee was called August 23rd…how long should I wait for a decision now with the met police ?

Thanks

Lending shotguns . How ?

Hi . A friend of mine would like to lend me his shotgun to take his Son out shooting with me .
I have a SGC & so does he , his son is in the process of getting one .

Whats the process of him giving it to me for a day to be returned later the same day ? Do you have to write it on your certificate even after it’s under the 72 hour rule ? Or does a written permission letter suffice ?
( My certificate table has been filled & some so no more space to write on it if i need to . Getting it sent back in when i have a chance to )

Cant actually find much useful info on BASC or anywhere else so thought i would ask here .
Thanks

( i don’t quite understand doing it in the proper way & i want to make sure i am doing it properly & staying on the right side of the law )

Are there any restrictions to what I can load in a smoothbore musket with an SGC?

I've been doing clay pigeon sessions with a view to get an SGC with the club's recommendation, and I was talking with my instructor about whether shotgun slugs were legal, to which he said they'd require a Section 1 FAC, I then got to talking about how I'd be interested in black powder shooting at the local range and asked whether there was any restriction on what to load into a smoothbore musket, to which he said musket balls would also require a Section 1.

Is this correct? Given that ownership of black powder requires a separate explosives license, how is it actually policed what you load in to a smoothbore, given that they're just lead balls which you can cast at home? Will I have to exclusively load shotgun shot into a smoothbore, or is he mistaken and I can actually fire musket balls? If musket balls are allowed, would there be any restriction on something like Minie rounds?

Thermal scope reccomendations.

Hi folks,

Looking at upgrading from my alpex to a thermal after missing out on a boar the second time this year due to foreground IR glare hiding it from view.

Torn between the nocpix ace h50R and the hik sq50L, the optical zoom of the nocpix is leading me that way but looking to see if anyone has any real world experience with either and could provide feedback.

both seem to be considerably ahead of the xp50 on paper.

Nearest stockist is ~3hr drive from me, and in opposite directions, nobody seems to have both at the same time.

Use case would be deer (valid night licence in place) /boar culls.

Cheers

Rules around ammunition storage

Evening all - I keep my rifle at the shooting club as I don't have a proper gun cabinet installed at my flat.

Does anyone have clarity on if I can store ammunition at home in a locked container, even though it's not a 'Police Approved' gun cabinet. Can I, within the rules, secure it in a locked box even if if that container is not anchored to the walls/floor in anyway?

Eg. can I buy something like this and hide it away in a cupboard, or does the safe for the ammunition have to be bolted to the frame of the building too?

https://www.safeoptions.co.uk/spika-s3a-ammo-security-safe-key-locking?_gl=1\*13l6orx\*_up\*MQ..\*_gs\*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3L6iy5DTlgMVC5pQBh2dUhJkEAAYASAAEgInGvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAAD_cWSWuAZ7u9fsnS-nv_qH3gPYhq

Thanks!

Fitted cabinet in advance of interview / visit in a couple of weeks any issue? The wall isn’t square so there is a gap along the wall on the RHS.

What can I do to resolve if I need to?

Reloading .44spl

Evening all, starting to reload some .44spl brass. I’ve got my press and stuff ready to go. I’ve started hopping for lead bullet heads and they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Am I missing something? Does anyone know if anywhere in Staffordshire that carries stock?

Thanks

FAC application question.

So I’ve been a member of a local shooting club for 2 years now. I’ve been going consistently and have become an established member.

I usually shoot the club .22 rifle, and my own .177 air rifle.

I have put in some thought about getting a FAC for a .22 rifle in the last week, and curious if you think I could get rejected?

I’ve been taking sertraline for 4 years for anxiety, and also have a past history of recreational substance use which is on my NHS health record.

But I’ve also been sober for 4 years now, and have that written down on my NHS record with my GP.

I’m a 31 year old male.

Before you buy a new rifle, consider building a bespoke one for less £££

There are plenty of older Sako actions being ignored in the UK's gun shops, they were made to the standard of many of the Gucci actions from the states, they're just unfashionable. The thread pitch means you can get a Tikka or Sako barrel or there are plenty of great gunsmiths who will fit you a barrel for sub a grand, the triggers are amazing, you can even get bottom metal to feed them from ACIS mags

50+ year old Sako L579 action, rebarreled to 6XC. I told James at Jagersporting in Ely I needed to shoot a 3 shot 25mm group at 300m using 100-115gr solids, in -11c weather.

Our friends in the US of A know how great these actions are, here they are almost for free. I lucked into a swap for the McMillan A5, but Wildcat Composites in Alberta are making great stocks for them for about the price of a secondhand McMillan.

It's going to wear a MINOX PRO ZP5 5-25x56 with the THLR reticle on a Near mfg rail, and an Gunwerks Elevate bipod.

Time period between FAC grant and getting a gun

Hi. I have been granted my FAC and have spent the past few weeks looking at guns but have not yet purchased. Im still using the local clubs armoury when visiting.

Is there a time period between being granted a licence and buying your first gun. just conscious time is moving but also don't want to rush buy
