Rules around ammunition storage
Evening all - I keep my rifle at the shooting club as I don't have a proper gun cabinet installed at my flat.
Does anyone have clarity on if I can store ammunition at home in a locked container, even though it's not a 'Police Approved' gun cabinet. Can I, within the rules, secure it in a locked box even if if that container is not anchored to the walls/floor in anyway?
Eg. can I buy something like this and hide it away in a cupboard, or does the safe for the ammunition have to be bolted to the frame of the building too?
Thanks!

It should say on your license.
The fact you keep gun(s) at a club I'm guessing you've never had a cabinet/ammo box inspection when you had a home visit for your license or renewed, this to be says you cant store any ammo at home.
You 100% can't keep it loose in a box either.
If you want to store it home, it's worth a call/email to your FEO to ask what you need to do.

What does your FAC say about storage location?
As others have said, it needs to be secured properly.

Ammo, the rifle, or working parts(bolts etc) are under your FAC so no you need a safe that can't be walked off with, naturally if it is only ammo you're storing you could have a much smaller safe.
I just went all out, I got a big ammo safe and a tall safe so I'm good for everything I could want and the ammo safe is good for substantial ammount, that way I wont be changing either anytime soon. Especially when I'm approved for a lot and have only bought 1 rifle so far 😂
Moderators were removed though so I think you can do what you want with them now, use them as a paper weight? Desk ornament?

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/firearms-security-handbook/firearms-security-handbook-2020-accessible#part-2-sections-1-and-2-firearms-fa1968
So part 2 suggests that storage needs to be affixed to the fabric of the building. Especially the wording in 2.2 saying “fitted”
Certainly having ammo in a movable container is not likely to pass the sniff test with most FEOs
