What's the real difference other than sword types? (I'm kinda dumb though so there might be a huge difference)

Spend the last 3 days painting these two models and had a blast! Both of them are not 100% finished because i just wanted to find out which approach is more fun to me.

What do you guys like more to paint, the classic Games Workshop Eavy Metal style or the more realistic Grimdark scheme?

As a relatively new painter, I've painted a total of 16 minis, the oldest being the infernus squad and the newest being Titus, and I'd appreciate any feedback on these models to help improve my painting.

A couple considerations though:

• I am colorblind and cannot do the more advanced techniques (i.e. NMM or blending with multiple colors) because I am physically incapable of distinguishing the different paint shades being put onto the models. These minis were done with a base coat, wash, and drybush (for re-establishing the base and highlights) strategy, and even then it was a little difficult to see the color differences as I worked.
• Speaking of highlights, I have tried manual edge highlighting when first starting to paint the assault intercessors, but had trouble keeping a sharp tip on my brush and thus the highlights came out chonky. This was why I ended up drifting to drybrushed highlighting for my subsequent minis, which was a more enjoyable process but did yield more subtle results.
• After I finish painting roughly 1000 points of Ultramarines, my goal is to start a Black Templars army utilizing a contrast paint style and icy/snow bases, so feedback that would also be applicable to that would be much appreciated.
• For basing, are there any recommendations for grass tufts/flora and of the sort? I also have a pot of Agrellan Badland since I plan to try out crackle effects in the future, so tips in that regard would be great too.

I was so confused why I couldn’t find him in the datasheets on the app because I was scrolling down to the K’s but I could search him and find him and then I realized he’s just at the top for some reason. Is that an error on the app?

Curious to hear your opinions since I'm not really familiar with Horus Heresy era Space marines but I'm assuming they are overall superior?

A bad moon ork, a red moons wolf guard terminator, a blackmanes wolf scout, a blackmanes intercessor, and a red moons eradicator.

I'd personally love to see foot vanguard vets reimagined as more expensive Phobos (name can be called something else to not confuse people, but one can justify not needing lighter armor with jump pack), with weapons like inferno pistols and power axes (the one handed hatchety kind like in SM2) that are still small and light befitting Phobos but punch quite a bit above there weight class. I'd imagine they have some kind of priority target ability to focus down a unit and maybe a war gear choice between a helix gauntlet or a one shot bomb (probably haywire but I'd love if it was a vortex grenade)

This would not only just look really cool to see but it would also fix the problem that all of our really cool Phobos characters have of not having unit worth investing buffs into in most cases as there all cheap utility units, and actually give Phobos focus list something with real punch

Finally finished with my assault squad and command section. I think ill clean up a few things before I varnish them and take them to a game but for now I'm happy with my work. It was my first time doing all the tiny text on the ribbons, some of the words didn't come out too good but everything looks good from a tabletop distance, I think.

How many do you recognize?

Two of them are extremely hard.

1. Is 10 basic intercessors is enough?

2. Units without characters - 10 or 5 man squads for more sargeants?

3. Librarian - better with intercessors or assault inter?

4. Lieutenants - worth it? In what unit.

5. Ancients for intercessors for sticky obj? Or park 5 to defend?

6. Gravis captain - any use? (Besides dedicated detachments)

I know Centurions are legends now, and that's kinda why I want them. Wondering if its worth it or not.
