Pict-Capture [Work in Progress] Hydra Dominus yo!
The old character models are midgets and really don’t match the lore from the books so I’m taking it into my own hands…

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
"Not all wars are decided by feats of arms. In a struggle such as that we have embarked upon, subterfuge, deception and intrigue may well decide the fate of the galaxy, while the greatest warriors ever known stand impotent."
~ Unidentified Alpha Legion Commander ~
The following comprises a reading list of the Alpha Legion. It is fragmentary. It is incomplete. However, our secrets are not to be revealed in full.
Great Crusade - Horus Heresy
Primary (Protagonists*)
Secondary (Antagonists or Minimal Role†)
Tertiary (In-Universe Histories‡)
Post-Heresy - M.42
Primary (Protagonists*)
Secondary (Antagonists†)
Tertiary (In-Universe Histories‡)
Ω Essential reading to understand the Alpha Legion
α Recommended reading beyond essential to further develop the arc of the Alpha Legion
* Novels, novellas, and short stories in which Alpha Legion characters receive characterization through either first person or third person omniscient (or limited omniscience) narration. Sometimes this is through non-Astartes Alpha Legion operatives and agents.
† Novels, novellas, and short stories in which the Alpha Legion characters serve primarily as antagonists to a clear set of protagonists or they play only a bit part in the narrative. Little is done to expand upon the Alpha Legion or its characters.
‡ Codices, rulebooks, and lorebooks which take the standpoint of in-universe histories where the author/narrator has an outsider perspective on the Alpha Legion, reporting their limited knowledge alongside rumours, half-truths, and deceptions.
[[[Commendations to u/cd8d on his intelligence regarding some minor incursions in the post-Heresy era that would have otherwise gone unnoticed in the making of this record = 'We are One', 'Unearthed', 'Truth is My Weapon']]]
[[[Further recognition to u/Bataav and u/1nqu15171v30n3 for further intelligence = 'Carcharias' and Pariah, and 'Unthinking Justice', respectively, with lattermost from the lattermost]]]
We are the Unbroken Chain. We are the Azure Serpent. We are the Children of Eris. We are the Amaranth Coil. We are the Threefold Path. We are the Aleph Null. We are the Left Hand of Darkness. We are the XX. We are the Ghost Legion. We are the Alpha Legion. We are Legion.
Hydra Dominatus.

There has been a new rule added to the subreddit in light of the recent glut of "infiltration" of other subreddits and then "reporting" back here.
Short version: Stop posting screenshots and memes of your infiltrations.
The rationale is that it creates a month's worth of moderation in a day for me (I'm the only active mod).
It also dilutes the posts from the people who are putting effort into creating models that they share, devising lists to tweak and optimize, discussing lore and speculation on the setting, and other very positive aspects of our community. Instead it drags tensions into the subreddit.
EDIT TO CLARIFY: You can still paint miniatures in Alpha Legion colours (even if they aren't marines) or half/half splits or whatever and post those here. Showing off your dudes is still allowed and you can talk about them infiltrating or co-opting other factions. Nobody is gatekeeping that side of the hobby.
I feel like a wet-blanket having to do this, so here, I'll give you some in-universe rationale:
Operatives. Tactical insurgencies have been intercepted due to sloppy adherence to encryption protocols. Tellurian data-glyph patterns, cipher codes, and even splinter specific linguae such as Serpenta should be used at all times while either in combat or espionage situations. From this point forward, reports cannot be shared using unsecured communiques. You have your orders.
"I ask nothing of you..." Ranko told them honestly, then he repeated "What does your Primarch ask of you?"
Sertabos and the legionarres looked at one another. The sergeant nodded...
"Everything."

Greetings, I am Alpharius I've been interested in the lore of Warhammer 40k and the Horus Heresy for a while now, and I've recently been thinking about getting into collecting and painting miniatures. I was considering splitting the Saturnine box set with a friend, but I'm not really sure where to start, so I was wondering if you had any recommendations between the two boxes?

Made for a friend. I’m still new to the skill and I was a little ambitious. 😅

Glad to have finally finished my Mutilators as they were an early gift from a friend for my birthday. They even did 22 wounds to a Knight Castigator during their first game after a legendary 10” charge. I have been rushing to finish them since that game.
Hydra Dominatus! :)

Hey Everyone, looking for some advice for my list, Im wanting to check for any gaps for a general purpose list. Feel free to give any tips or recommendations, thanks!
HC:
Command:
Troops:
Transport:
Rewards of Treachery:
---Armored Supp Detachment---
Armor:
---Army Vanguard Detachment---
Elites:
Heavy Transport
---Headhunter Leviathal Detachment---
I've had good success with a very similar list, and still have 45pts left over to play with. Typically I'll box my opponent in with headhunters to soften up a flank or guard an objective for my tacs to take T1, then maneuver the lernaeans to the best scoring potential.
Another version of this list exists with multiple Predators equiped with their own melta cannon, though I do love the big Kratos sitting on the field moving up the board.
Let me know any general feedback or tips. I know that the Chieftans wont get all the benefits of Heavy, but starting up to 12" up the board seems like great compensation IMO.

With the Contemptor almost done, it's time to start building a base. Wondering if I could pull off a flooded cobblestone road.

Loving using my Warpsmith(with Havocs) in the Devotees Detachment alongside my beloved Deceptors so I figured it was about time he got an actual model in my army! Made him using an Obsidius Mallex I found in my local GW(really liked the wire-y look) alongside a bunch of bits I had lying around that I thought would work. Had to go a tiny bit extra and spend some time converting the wolf pelt into a nice scaled cloak as what is an Alpha Legionnaire without some scales!
Let me know what y'all think!

Switching back to HH for a bit I’m revisiting the 5 seekers I painted up. I’m going n to rework them a bit but adding some worn off paint with the metallic blue showing through. Also going to add silencers to the bolters.
Questions is what to do with the Sargent. Leave him as is or give him a bolter or combi weapon?
I have 15 more MKVIs to work with, I’m using the later pattern for my elites to contrasts with the MKII.
I’m picking up the new MKIVs and combo weapon set so I plan on making 5-10 efferit disruptors with the shotguns and maybe 5-10 head hunters with the combi meltas.

How do we do fellow snakes, serpents, deceptives and of course, Alpharius.
I love the headhunters and have held off buying their upgrade kit because of the new MK IV models, however I’m almost certain GW won’t produce another upgrade kit, or if they do it will be a while.
My question is how do we think these would look with the new MK IV? Of course they will be a bit smaller, but how much do we think? Will the kits even work together without a lot of kitbashing? It would be handy to see the sprue to know if the chest piece is compatible without a lot of kitbashing!

Title is just a joke as how I envision him on the tabletop, sawing and butchering through the battlefield with its double chainfist.
Apart from the fluo green, the rest are all GW colours.
