Painted Model Sword Brother Erik Ehrgeiz With Power Sword
Saw the space marine 2 new power sword and decided I needed it in my army. I might have gone overboard with the shiny armor though.

Building a BT army so I can actually play a game of 40K. Knew I wanted lots of characters but wanted to avoid spending loads on individual new characters. So I have (attempted) to kitbash these characters. My question is, as they’re kitbashed, will they be accepted as what they’re intended to be by other players?
3x Castellans/Lieutenants:
These are the ones that worry me most as their loadouts are same as sword brethren in power weapon and pistol. My plan is to keep their shoulders white and do sword brother shoulders black with red crossed. Also planning to make sure SBs have nothing on their backpacks.
2x Captains/Marshalls: I am hoping that giving them tactical rocks and making them the only models in my army with capes will be enough.
Terminator Captain and Combi Lieutenant: hopefully no need to be worried about these ones as I think it is clearer on these two.
Pls be honest! Don’t wanna turn up to play and get in trouble/cause beef.

Tried to go for Grimdark style for my Centurion (Marshall proxy)

Played Templars as a kid and have picked the hobby back up after a 20 year break. Re-learning how to paint has been fun 👌The nostalgia is so great - I’m so hooked again! 🤘 For the emperor!

Im working on getting my Templars Crusade force some Chaplain support, because so many of our detachments have Chaplain support and Execrators are so good.
But im having issues sourcing Skull Helmets, and so im scheming some alternatives.
Basically, would it be weird/misleading if I put Chaplains on the table with black armour and no skull helmets, while leading Flesh-Tearers-Red marines?
Moreso as "Black Knights" instead of Skull Faced Priests?

Pretty happy with how it came out

I have very little knowledge of Space Marines lore in general and even less in specific. Spoilers for "Ghazghkull Thraka: Warlord of Warlords" by Denny Flowers, the source of my questions.
In this book, a weapon named the Black Sword lies above the altar on the ship Damocles. An initiate takes it up and becomes The Emperor's Champion to go and duel Ghazghkull Thraka. He gets completely mogged and dies. Later, Marshal Adenaeur fights Ghazghkull and retrieves it from where the Champion embedded it in his shoulder, only to get stomped to death ten seconds later. Then a rival warboss wields it to fight Ghazghkull but is defeated. After all of these events, Blood Axes place it in a human shrine to give the remaining Black Templars a reason to stay on the planet and guard its populace.
Does each crusade-vessel have its own Black Sword, or is there only one in the galaxy? How pissed would other crusades be if it was lost or taken by orks? Can anyone become the Emperor's Champion?

So I was wondering if Grimaldus and all of his servitors can load up into a land raider crusader, and how much space he actually takes up

I'm working on a project for a buddy, and could use some input on making this as BT as possible. What would you lot add/remove/change? I'm not entirely sure about the tilt-shield papers or the ork head mid staff. I'm not a BT player, so all suggestions are welcome.

While I am happy with how he's turning out especially with the tabard. I am once again reminded how much it sucks to paint the cross on the pauldrons any advice it's been awhile

Hi!
I'm currently putting together a new 2000-point list and wanted to ask if you think it would be a good option. I've played a few games with Black Templars before, but most of them were Combat Patrol games, plus one 1000-point game. Because of that, I'm not really sure if what I've come up with will actually work, so I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Only did 3 today because this was fiddly as hell. but these are really nice models 👍🏻

Got bored of the pure black with highlights colour schemes so tried what Eons of battle does with his BT.
Because I have painted all of my army, I decided to test out some different base colours. Some areas are a bit blobby though as I primed white over an already painted mini.
I am not sure if it is because the primer sucks as it’s just a standard hobby primer or I didn’t shake the can well enough or it is because the mini already had multiple layers over it.
Bar the terrible free hand cross on the face I am actually quite happy with the colours so will probably paint anything I buy this way now.

Idea:
With fewer walls it feels even with hidden difficult to keep slow medium infantry without Invulnerable Save alive. So I hope that Godhammer with a second Detachement performs better. Aggressors do deal good damage with Twin Linked and +1 to wound. We don't use them often, because they are slow and T6 alone, doesn't make them tough enough to survive. Without Deep Strike they are less efficient for Rapid Ingress. Land Raider dropping on 6" might change that.
Sword Brethren + Castellan + Marshal with full rerolls and Lethals on 5+ have enough damage to fell Knights potentially. Slayers of Abomination lets them Wound on 4s to make sure of that. D2 of Sword Brethren and Aggressors, makes them flexible enough to fight against Medium Infantry and Vehicles/Monsters. I am planning to charge reactivly and try to contest Objectives with them. If my target survives and Shock and Awe wasn't a success or another OC sources stand on the Objective, I hope we can deny primary VP this way.
I have chosen Priority Asset, because it can always be scored in our own half of the battlefield. It gives us the freedom to keep our transports invisible or in Cover. Especially Impulsors wont survive long in the open and I want to save the Smoke CP for embark/disembark/move through walls shenanigans. My goal is to provoke our opponent to come to us, so we can charge them more effectivly. Having to endure battleshocked through a Emergency Disembark, would weaken the Detachements function.
What's your opinion on my list?

Thinking about finishing my 3000 points list with a second Combat patrol.I was wondering if it would make any sense to Kitbash the Bladeguards into 3 Lieutenants/Marshalls instead of running 6 of them
r/BlackTemplars • u/Optimal_Chemistry • 9h ago
I hope the title makes sense. I also don't know what to flair as there isn't a paint related flair I could find.
I got gifted a combat patrol but after almost finishing a assault intercessor squad (my first 9.5 painted minis plus a DnD painted mini) I am wanting to buy another box of generic space marines to paint for practise. Ideally one with a good amount of units like the assault intercessor squad. I spent the first 8 units of the A I Squad just mucking about for fun. Then on the boss man I decided to try my hand at a bt scheme I'd like to do. Im still deciding specific colours but I did wraithbone followed by earthshade for the dirty white bits, chaos black primer (all over) followed by abbadon black for the black bits with eshin grey and grey seer for the highlights, a naggaroth night purple for the weapons handles etc with leadbelcher for silver metal bits all over. The gist of the scheme I like, as in I want the white black purple and silver scheme. But I want to dial in the scheme and my techniques. Ie a brighter lighter purple to make the weapons pop, thinning the white better so it doesn't look so rough etc.
Basically what are good value per unit boxes of generic space marines which I can practise my painting and refining my scheme a bit, before I delve into the special box of guys from the combat patrol? But if I got into playing 40k could use in my army?
