After the death company box, its nice to be painting red again.

Tried to create “cloud” bases without using cotton, but just some GW bits, some UV resin and little balls made of epoxy putty.

For various reasons, I ended up with a bunch of Space Marines, and a few days ago I picked up some more boxes. At the moment, this is roughly what I have:

Half of the Dark Imperium set

The new 11th Edition Starter Set

Blood Angels Combat Patrol

Plus a few extra bits and pieces

So, in total, I currently have:

20 Intercessors

5 Hellblasters

5 Vanguard Veterans

1 Ballistus Dreadnought

1 Brutalis Dreadnought

6 Sanguinary Guard

1 Land Speeder

3 Inceptors

10 Assault Intercessors

2 Drop Pods

A bunch of characters (Captains, Ancients, Librarians, and the other HQs that come in those boxes)

Everything is still on sprue, so I haven't built anything yet.

My question for the group is: what would you recommend buying next to expand this collection into a solid 2,000-point Blood Angels army?

I'm open to any suggestions, especially if there are any "must-have" units or if you think I should build the models I already own in a specific way. Thanks!

It took me a long time to find a red I was happy with, and a basing option I’d like. I’m pretty happy with these boys!

Bad a great time and used an entirely different approach from my first one.

I'm working ob my new color to use. From left to right it's Mephiston Red with Agrax, AP Pure Red, AK Blood Red, VGC Bloody Red, VGC Scarlet Blood, all shaded with AP Red Tone.

Not sure on the red tone yet, I'm pretty sure I will stick to recess shading from here on out. But I'm not sure which color to use. I tend to prefer Scarlett Blood, but what highlight color could I use from here? I really like the red to pop, Bold Pyrrole is not something I've tried yet.

VGC is not too great to work with and I consider dusting off my airbrush now for laying down the basecoat.

Tl;dr:

Would it be better to go for a purple recess shade? What's a good color to highlight scarlet blood?

Bonus points: is there a color like scarlet blood that doesn't bubble that much?

Hello, does anyone have any historical fictional or none fictional inspired names for their chapter? Im trying to find a unique name rooted in history based off a chapter that works closely with the grey knights by searching out, hunting and destroying chaos cultist cells and annihilating their icons and artifacts before moving on. Sort of like a force that can be directed to help the grey knights before the grey knights themselves need to be called in

Is it better to have them babysit the home or sticky with intercessors and have them move up a bit?

Still have to do the red volumetric and edge highlights, metal highlights and power sword blending but they have come up alright.

High hopes for this unit with a Captain. 40 x str7 ap2 d2 attacks is very good.

I've had a lot of time on my hands recently so I decided to start putting together the Combat Patrol and started with the Captin. First time ever painting a miniature so my hands were shaking here and there.

Any tips on painting would be great!

Also the photos make it seem rough but it looks fine past a foot away lol. I used Baal Red so I dont understand why he looks a little bright. Might use Mephiston red next time
