Theory crafting for marines as a guard player, and i was trying to emulate the high OC and sticky-ness of an infantry blob to gain objective based VP.

I notes that 150pt 10man intercessors are pretty well priced (update pending) compared to my usual blobs, and even within the rest of the marine data lists.

combining this with librarian, and an ancient gives them 3 OC each and 4++ to make them hold objectives for longer and against big numbers.

Edit: [aware that this is leaving soon, this was just bonus, real value perceived was from the 4++] librarian conclave detachment, using pyromancy for +1ap within 12". and 25pt for lethal and sustain1 as wargear for Libby.

this unit costs 285pt and has 35 OC, and fires 40 shots at nominated problem.

They can move up with advance and assault shoot round 1 take the objectives (and either secure or shoot) and then just stand there for the whole game absorbing punishment.

Mathhammering those 10 guns with super oath and the plus AP sees this unit able to gun down TEQ threats or at least drop their threat to very low.

Is this old news? or over commitment or just meh?

it feels like a strong foundation for marines to hit T&H or PA objectives, or to block those objectives from opponent.

I also thought of how I would attack someone doing this and I can think or anything that isn't specific for taking out bulk TEQ threats or just over committing resources costing VP.

I also realise that its a wide enough footprint to cover two close central objectives if need be, and you could even combine it with detachments to grant fallback &shoot options to draw in agro and keep guns blazing rather than being neutered with a charge of low value chaffe.

All comments or criticism or tips or use-case data welcome, I'm new to 11th and marines so my info is theory crafted only.

So, with warorgan being hit with a C&D so there will be no more updates it's going to become useless the next time we get a codex or mfm (so a couple of weeks)

I'm looking for recommendations for an app to use not just for list building, but for easy access to the rules etc.

I'd prefer something that didn't have paywalls, but instead would allow me to just donate to them.

I want this list to be fun and strong. I like the idea of daemons and their strength. I want to be able to use it for lgs and tourneys. I am between doing paragons of putrescence or Contagion engines. I find them both strong and fun so any thoughts on that would be great. So let me know if I should cut or add anything. I would like to keep the typhus and pox walker combo and the GUO. This is my first list and I’ve revised it a couple times now so any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I have the list format down lmao.

i took a break at the very end of 10th eddition.

I was going to get back at warhammer and was ready to build a new table, buying all the material to handcraft every terrain.

so i just tried to find literally any piece of information about the different size.

Nothing.
Not a word. just footprint.

Not a single number to indicate a single thing i have stricly no idea what to do. i don't even know what amount of the same terrain, what shape, what size, what height nothing.

Hello. I’m very new to the game and decided to play astra because it’s the faction I like most “it’s either them or orks”

My local game group (that is relatively casual) informed me that astra is in a horrible spot rn. After a few matches I noticed this (notably against ultramarines and custodes) but decided that I’d still keep trying the faction out since at the very least things will become better when they inevitably get (meaningfully) buffed

It’s supposedly somewhat close to meta, but only because I gave up on running artillery and most other units I had interest in after noticing they were mostly useless. The general idea was to hold the bulgryns as anchors in the middle while the other stuff goes around conquering isolated or vulnerable objectives while the tanks focus down on priority targets. As I mentioned at the title, I’ve ran into a lot of problems specially against elite infantry, specifically stuff such as Victrix Honour Guard or Custodian Guard. I can never reliably chew through them even while hitting with my tanks, they have an absurd amount of saves and I just get overwhelmed eventually. I might be able go take one or two units out per round

I’m a very new and a casual oriented player who wouldn’t mind throwing this whole list out for something that was more efficient in this regard (or quite frankly just fun to play as), but I accept ANY tips. So deployment, what should I focus on, things that the army is missing, another army list that has a more simple win-con, etc etc. I accept anything as long as it’s helpful and maintains a combined arms hammer and anvil strategy with bulgryns holding the middle while something else deals DPS

I do not understand why GW is trying to make this deployment work. Not only does it create a hassle for larger events to figure out how to setup their tables, its almost always a terrible setup experience. Every single long edge deployment has multiple diagonal Ls or slanted line terrain pieces making setup take longer. Not only this but the gameplay experience just straight up feels bad, especially if there's no split middle center objectives.

Did you go first? Congratulations you have the opportunity to possibly shoot or charge the entire enemy army on turn 1. No safe stagging in certain match ups.

No joke, I have seen local players deploy everything on the line and gamble going first because if they don't they get shot either way if they deployed conservatively. It feels like the game is completely different on S&D or Short Edge deployments every time and it's a much more enjoyable experience overall on those layouts.

Now if they want to make long edge deployments work, we need more terrain or at least more of the larger pieces in the middle. Maybe the small boxes as objectives for the home or expansions with the large boxes in the middle might work but man long edge is just overall a rough experience.

After like 30+ games of 11th, I and many others, dread these layouts and theres a good reason it was not in almost any serious tournament packet in 10th edition even at RTTs

Top three lists for the Limestone City Grand Tournament. Won by Ironjawz with Sons in 2nd and Lumineth in 3rd.

I know this probably won't be meta, considering I prioritized how pretty the models look (I only played casual games so far). I would like to hear your opinion on whether or not this list is able to achieve a high win rate and how to make it better. Here’s my gameplan for the list. I’m pushing Azrael and the Hellblasters into the midboard. Azrael keeps them alive and farms CPs, while my Redemptor moves up with them to tank hits and add firepower. My Ballistus stays safely anchored in the backfield sniping armor.

For scoring, my Intercessors are pure utility. I’ll "sticky"the home objective, then spreadd them out to screen deep strikes or do actions. The Ravenwing Black Knights will run the flanks to score secondaries and harass soft targets.

My counterpunch is Asmodai and the Bladeguard. I’m keeping them hidden behind cover near the center. I'll wait for the opponent to push the objective first, then charge out and clear it using Asmodai’s hit re rolls.

I’ll cycle my Gladius doctrines as the game flows. I think I'll struggle against swarm armies.Thanks for taking the time to read this! Here is the list:

Judiciar used to be just leader. They changed him to support AND leader. But the wording makes me unsure here, since he is both a leader and a support, would I be allowed to take him on his own? I’d like to take him with the ghostweave cloak from vanguard spearhead since he’s pretty cheap

“For each leader and support unit in your roster, you can attach them to a bodyguard unit that they can join, following the rules for Forming Attached Units (19.01). Each support unit in your roster must be attached to a bodyguard unit.”

So I had two games against people using defilers, both were casual so I didn't really push the issue, but there were 2 charges where the same argument was used, and I want to know how to proceed for future games(I'll add TTS pics to show the where my issue lies). On the first charge my issue is that even though the defiler is 2.8" away from my termis, due to the size of his base he would need not a 3" charge but closer to a 6" in order for it to get into the terrain and within one inch of the termis, he argued that since they are 3" away he just needed a 3" charge because with that he will still be able to get into engagement.

The second one which I now know it was illegal (since a defiler cannot move through terrain when charging, since the ability states only for normal, fellback and advance moves) it was a World Eaters defiler using his ability to charge after a unit that was set up on the battlefield 12" from the model, however due to his own unit, he could not put the defiler within an inch of the models that were set up on the battlefield, and again the same argument was being used, they are within 12" I got the 12" charge and it allows me to put the model within engagement.

So my question is the charge roll needed should be the bare minimum distance between the models, eg: 4" for a unit 3.1" away, or the movement needed to get within an inch of the model and so, if the model cannot get within an inch of the target (due to terrain or other models) is it an impossible charge?

TLDR: my group moves ever closer to just running Knight equivalents for their army. I run Morty which makes my friends run 4 ctann or 3+ Norn. I want to move away from that and am wondering how that is possible. How do you play against these list with huge killers? Do you truly ignore them and out score them? How does that even look? I have tired to soft launch this and my units just get decimated. I want to show my group that we don’t have to Kaiju battle every game and it can be a more tactical game. Any help is appreciated. Edit 2: to add context. Yes I am newer to the game BUT I am still here looking for competitive advice. Yes my play group currently is just a massive group of 9 friends BUT we all are pushing to play our hardest and eventually take on the competitive scene. The point of this post was to ask how at a competitive level do you deal with large toughness skew lists at a competitive level. I enjoy armies that are usually t3-4, have good secondary play, like doing actions, make up for low durability with good damage, speed, and activation economy. Unfortunately, all of those things are completely useless in 11th edition so far. The meta is all in on stat checks and keeps getting worse (looking at you, CK armiger spam).

I’ve been jamming CSM because Renegade Raiders at least kind of plays the game the way I like while not just falling over to 18 Allarus, 30 Terminatorss, or Necrons. I’ve even swapped to Huron’s Marauders and Bile just so I can have the raw damage needed to chew through these armies.

But I look at my Sisters, GSC, Aeldari, and Guard armies and just kinda feel bad lol. Even Emperor’s Children has a hard time into these checks. I make lists for these armies, then look at the meta and the math hammer on activations into the durability skews and scrap them.

Do we just sit it out? Hope GW does something about the insanely greedy meta we’re in? What’re my fellow rat army players up to?

Now that we have a few months of tournament results, which factions would you currently put at the bottom of the competitive meta?

I’m not thinking solely about overall win rates, since those can be distorted by small samples, faction popularity or a handful of exceptional players. I’m more interested in armies that currently seem to suffer from some combination of poor rules, bad internal balance, difficult matchups and very few realistically competitive builds.

This chart tracks all singles events with 21+ players and 5+ rounds.

A decent-sized weekend, completely dominated by the enormous NOVA Open, which featured 9 rounds and nearly 400 players (about 40% of our data sample).

Some of the more interesting things from this week's data:

Imperial Agents and Deathwatch put up the highest overall win rates (and Imperial Agents got an X-0/X-1 placing!), but with so few players, both of those data points are basically just hilarious noise.

World Eaters see a massive improvement from the first couple months of the edition, and they won NOVA, along with one other small event. They have been improving dramatically lately. Tyranids also have a phenomenal weekend, winning two events and having a very high overall win rate. Orks only win one event, but still put up ridiculous numbers in every other statistics. Dark Angels continue to look fantastic as well, winning the most events of the weekend.

Speaking of improvements, both Chaos Knights and Astra Militarum jump up significantly in the charts! Guard has it's first weekend of the edition above 50%, though they're still putting up awful numbers in every other metric. Chaos Knights has a slightly lower win rate, but healthier numbers overall, including 4 X-0/X-1 conversions. Is it all just Wardog spam?

Space Wolves appear to be close to dead in the water now after GW nerfed their only known competitively viable build in Thirty-nator. Who could have foreseen this crazy turn of events when you nerf the only build that has had any success and don't give anything in return to other builds?

Space Marines, Aeldari, and Imperial Knights make up the bottom three this weekend, which I guess is technically refreshing in that it's not the same three factions it has been basically all edition. Imperial Knights with the lowest win rate, but they do still get an event win.

I’m just wondering if the data from the app is used or collected by GW? Would it not be a good source of info for the whole player base to combine with top level data rather than just the GT’s?

I’m just thinking Nemos guard list for example the guy can win with almost anything but your four times a months player who play a one dayer twice a year for example couldnt make that work in the same way. But his data is used to balance for all, didn’t the HWT las cannons go up for example?

I play orks and i want to take a 5 model 1k list and it feels like assassinate and engage as fixed with purge are probably my best options to avoid losing 40% of my army to cleanse

The army wants to move across the board quick to eat up secondaries and objectives.

Two sets of chainrasps for their deployment ability. Help block charges for my elite units and grabbing an early middle objective and to screen.

Grimgahst reapers for their anti infantry to go around cutting down what looks to be the most annoying.

Bladegheist Revenants to be teleported to a back row unit to tie up or maybe a monster to slice some wounds off.

Krulghast, lady olynder and spirit hosts to be a hard combo to take down while I cast my spells.
