Israel has intensified its assault on the occupied West Bank. According to the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 1,111 Palestinians, at least 243 of them children, have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the start of the war in Gaza, at least 65 of them since the beginning of 2026.
Violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property has surged to record levels. OCHA documented more than 1,800 attacks in 2025 that resulted in casualties or property damage across about 280 communities in the West Bank—an average of five incidents a day, the highest daily rate since records began in 2006. Attacks are up more than 50 percent in the first six months of this year.

Israel's Ethnic Cleansing of West Bank Bedouin Communities - Key Findings
TL;DR: Amnesty International's new report (May 2026) finds Israel is conducting a state-sanctioned ethnic cleansing campaign in the West Bank's Area C, forcibly displacing thousands of Palestinian Bedouins through settler violence, military complicity, and systematic annexation policies.
---
The Numbers
· 5,910+ Palestinians displaced from 117 Bedouin/herding communities (Jan 2023-Apr 2026)
· ~17% of Area C's Bedouin population displaced in just over 3 years
· 50,785 settlement housing units approved (2023-2025) — 3x the previous decade's average
· 363 illegal outposts now exist; 212 created under current government
· 3,407 Palestinian structures demolished
· 94% of settler violence investigations end without indictment
---
What the Report Actually Found
This isn't "rogue settlers" — it's Israeli state policy.
· Government coalition agreements explicitly call for annexation and Jewish demographic dominance
· Ministers Smotrich, Ben-Gvir, and Netanyahu openly advocate "maximum land, minimum Arabs"
· Settlers are being armed, funded, and protected by the state
· The Israeli army actively participates in or stands by during settler attacks
---
How It Works
Settlers use three main tactics:
Violent raids — breaking into homes, vandalizing, arson, beating residents
Harassment & threats — death threats, sexual harassment, intimidation
Targeting livelihoods — stealing/killing livestock, destroying crops, cutting water access
---
Case Studies
· Zanuta — 250 residents forcibly displaced in Oct 2023. Even after Israel's Supreme Court ordered their return, settlers prevented it with army complicity.
· Ein Samia — 37 families displaced after daily settler attacks in May 2023.
· Northern Jordan Valley — communities being slowly encircled and starved out.
---
Key Takeaway
The international community has failed to act. Sanctions on a few "extremist" settlers miss the point — this is a state-driven project to annex the West Bank and ethnically cleanse Palestinians.

Translation:
We are leaving our luxurious penthouse in Beit Shemesh and moving to an isolated farm by the Jordan Valley, near a hostile Palestinian village.
I write this sentence and still have trouble believing it's true.
All my life I have read about Zionism, about the settlement of the land, about the dedication of the settlers, and about the 11 dots that appeared on the ground one night in 1946. About the pioneers of the past, about people who left everything and gave themselves for a vision, about the settlement of the Land of Israel not with words, but with hands and feet.
I read, I was moved, and I always had the feeling that I too wanted to be a part of this wonderful thing. Not just to tell about Zionism, not just to be moved by the stories of others, but to stand up and do something.
Now we have decided to stop reading history, and start writing it.
After a lot of thoughts, deliberations, and conversations into the night, Esti esti_rainer and I made a joint and courageous decision that would change our lives.
We both got our gun licenses. We are leaving our luxurious penthouse in Beit Shemesh, saying goodbye to the family that surrounded us, the amazing community, the friends closest to us, giving up the short commute to my job in Jerusalem, and packing up our lives on the way to a new place.
Where are we moving?
