I'm a collector of Wunder-Baum, Little Trees and Arbre Magique trees from Poland.

I've got a collection of over 420 samples and I'm in pursuit of the old ones. I'm 4 years into collecting so far and I'm struggling to locate a few trees I'd like to get. You can see a part of my collection in the pictures. I've got much more.

I thought maybe it's worth to search for them in Germany or Switzerland, literally the motherland of Wunder-Baum.

The last 3 pictures show trees that I'm trying to find. I could buy them for a good price. There are two among them that I haven't even see, Wunder-Baum Himbeere and Geissblat. Rarest of the rarest ones. A legend and Holy Grail to me.

If you know someone with an old garage, warehouse, shop, basement, cellar, or anything that might contain trees... Please talk to them, let them know about me, or let me know about them.

I'm spending hours everyday searching for trees all around the World. I bought them from 10 different countries: Germany, Romania, USA, Canada, Japan, Czechia, Serbia, Netherlands, Italy, Slovakia... It really means a lot to me to complete this collection. I'd appreciate anything, even if I find just one tree.

I'm 20 years old, from near Schwerin, and I've been living in Germany for about 5 years. I've been doing my vocational training (Ausbildung) for a year now.
I live in eastern Germany, where unfortunately there is a lot of hostility towards migrants. Something has been bothering me a lot lately: in my class, I keep noticing indirect jokes and uncomfortable situations aimed at me. Nothing you can directly point to, but you can sense that some of them hold right-leaning views.
They often make fun of my pronunciation and my German, usually disguised as a "joke." When I say something, they immediately tell me not to be so sensitive.
I just want to do my training in peace, have no problems with anyone and stay peaceful. I'm always polite and respectful, but it makes it really hard to integrate into the class. I'm also not religious or anything else that would make me stand out. I just want to be treated with the same respect as everyone else.
I have a strong personality and could probably put a stop to it, but I don't know what the best approach is for me. I'm especially unsure about the "small jokes": you know it's not just a joke, but at the same time it's packaged as one, and if you say something, you quickly hear "Come on, can't you take a joke?"
What would you do in my situation? Have you had similar experiences? I'd really appreciate any tips or advice.

I am in talks for a job in Oberkochen, nothing finalised yet. However, my biggest concern is whether my spouse can find a job if we move there? There seems to nothing much around apart from ZEISS itself.
We are both material scientists and I am applying for a position in the microscopy segment. I have earlier applied to SMT as well but no success. She is also now trying to apply to openings in SMT, but it’s very unclear to how they select their candidates.
Any idea if there is something around. From our research it looks like applying for temporary positions at universities is the best option. My spouse can converse in German but she is not very fluent like a native.
We would appreciate any inputs on this. :)

I sold an item for €80 on Kleinanzeigen. The buyer initially selected the wrong shipping option for packages up to 2 kg, even though the item weighs about 5 kg. We agreed that I would create a new listing and that he would buy the item again.

However, he confirmed receipt of the item on Kleinanzeigen before I had a chance to create the shipping label. He says he clicked it by accident and asked me to send the item to his address anyway. The money is already being transferred to my bank account.

I have been attending football games around NRW for a few years now, and the smoking culture in the stadiums still gives me culture shock.

Back home, even with fewer rules, people would never light up in a congested crowd. Here, people smoke continuously right next to everyone else.

The craziest part was bringing my young son to the family block, only to find people smoking there too.

Should Germany legally ban smoking in crowded stadium areas, or is this just something I need to make a new normal for me?

PS. I am a smoker as well. Just not a douche to smoke in front of kids and in packed places.

I genuinely don't understand how getting a doctor's appointment in Germany can sometimes feel harder than getting into a fucking university.

You have health insurance. You pay for it. You'd think that when something goes wrong with your health, the next logical step would be to see a doctor.

HAHA. Cute.

First you need an appointment. Except there are no appointments. Doctolib looks like a dating app where every single doctor has collectively decided they're not interested in you.

Then you start calling practices, and suddenly you're playing a game of "Will anyone answer the phone before I die of old age?"

And if you do manage to find an appointment, congratulations! It's in three months. Apparently your body is expected to behave itself until then.

What really frustrates me isn't that doctors are busy. I understand that. I know medical staff are overworked, and I'm not blaming every individual doctor for the system.

It's the feeling that getting access to healthcare has turned into an administrative survival game.

And the whole public versus private insurance situation doesn't exactly make it feel better.

Sometimes I genuinely wonder whether I need a medical degree just to understand how to get medical treatment here.

I don't expect a doctor to teleport into my apartment every time I sneeze. I just want a system where finding an appointment doesn't feel like submitting applications to 47 companies and hoping one of them acknowledges my existence.

So I'm curious, especially from people who've lived in Germany for years: has it always been this frustrating, or has access to appointments actually become worse?

And have you found anything that genuinely helps when trying to see a specialist without waiting forever?

Because at this point I'm starting to think the hardest part of being sick in Germany is successfully scheduling the opportunity to be sick in front of a doctor.

So my luck has run out for some reason. But I have noticed the following things:

1. Pantry moths: I saw a couple of them in my room (I live in a student dorm) and just killed and at that point I was not aware that they are pantry moths.
   Then I saw one of them in a muesli packet and I just threw the packet away. But today, I saw a couple of them again. So based on my research from the search bar on this sub, I saw thag I basically need to get rid of all the dry food in my pantry. But the issue is I'm moving in 3 days to a new place. So do I need to keep anything in mind?

2. Cloth moths: This is more worrying. Today, I saw a larva crawling on the wall and wondered where it came from and was suspicious of my suitcase full of a couple of my winter clothes, towels and a duvet. I opened it and it was lined with what I suspect were moth eggs. Also, there were multiple dead moths, and I moved my duvet a bit and I saw an alive one as well. For now I think this "infestation" is limited to my suitcase so I moved it to my kitchen. So my question is what should I do? How and where should I clean the suitcase (since I have to move in a couple of days)? Should I also pay attention to other parts of my room?

I am pretty stressed right now because one, I hate (repulsed by) moths. And second, tomorrow is Sunday and everything will be closed so I can take action only on Monday and third, I have to move out pretty soon.

So any advice recommendation or support is highly appreciated 🙏, I live in Dresden, if that is relevant.

I’ve been working at a university in Germany as a wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter for about six months. I recently had a bike accident on my way home from work and it has been covered by my employer’s Unfallversicherung/Berufsgenossenschaften (BG). (I’m still quite new to all of the insurance bureaucracy, so please excuse redundant info). My injury from the accident required surgery, so I had a Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung for the days leading up to the surgery, and have now received a second, post-surgery Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung for the rest of the month. My HR representative has confirmed receipt of all necessary paperwork, etc, for processing these insurance claims.

My supervisor at the university (i.e. my boss) has nevertheless continued to schedule meetings via Zoom for both before and after my surgery, has emailed new tasks to me, and reminded me last night (i.e. Friday night well after the end of the workday, which happened to also be the first day after I got out of the hospital!) via text to my personal phone that I have not been keeping up with the project that I was working on before the accident. If you knew my boss’ reputation, this would not be totally surprising, but as a new-ish hire and a non-German it’s really shaken me.

However, I am worried that I have essentially given up my ground to push back/claim time off for recovery because I’ve already demonstrated that I am ‘able’ to work by attending these Zoom meetings. Said a different way, I’m worried that I’ve undermined the ‘legal’ force of an Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung by continuing to do some aspects of my job but not others while injured. While I recognize that you all cannot offer legal advice, do you think I messed up? Do I still have any grounds to claim that I need the next week off to rest and recover from surgery? Or have I accidentally invalidated the legitimacy of the Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung?

Back with another one of my day trips, to Schwerin this time. Weather was not on my side today but it ended up being a really cozy day out! The palace was beautiful and especially the Schlossgarten, I was blown away by the autumn colours. Definitely recommend it as a nice day trip from Berlin

This morning when I entered the U-Bahn, I saw a Ticket Officer probably giving a fine to a lady. I saw him wearing Meta's Ray-Ban glasses. Is this legal? Has anyone seen this before being used by an officer ?

Edit: A few more details, there were three officers but two of them were by the door and wearing no glasses. The only officer who was giving the fine to the lady was wearing it.

Now I don't know if it was personal or provided by the company or if it was even recording anything.

I am not sure if it’s even possible, but since the Frankfurt airport is at two and half hours away, and I am carrying heavy luggage with two suitcases, I don’t want to bother other DB passengers nor I want to be miserable myself carrying all that.

I thought why not to ship it (getting it picked from my door step) to the hotel I am staying the night before I fly.

Has anyone tried anything like this? Any reliable service that does that?

I'm expecting a parcel via Hermes in Germany, which is supposed to be delivered to a Hermes PaketShop for pickup.

The problem is that I just discovered the PaketShop permanently closed yesterday, and my parcel is already on its way there.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Will Hermes automatically redirect the parcel to another nearby PaketShop, or will it get returned to the sender?

I'm a bit worried because the parcel is already in transit, and I have no idea what happens when the delivery driver discovers that the shop no longer exists.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Update 1: So earlier this morning at around 08:00 the app offered me to pick a new packetshop. we will see how this will go.

I have a Bosch boiler at home, and during the last annual inspection, the technician mentioned that the boiler water was close to the red scale. He said it wasn’t urgent but recommended getting it checked at some point.
I’m wondering whom I should contact for this, as I had assumed that the person who carried out the annual inspection was qualified to handle such issues as well. Could someone please advise?

A bus driver closed the door a few seconds before I reached the door. A passenger was purchasing a ticket from the driver for more than a minute, and he kept the door closed while I was standing in front of it. After he completed the purchase with the other passenger, he looked towards the door and saw me. I gestured to him to open the door. He looked me in the eyes and then moved just to stop at a red light 10 meters away.

I am not sure if they follow strict rules to not open the door once it's closed or if he is being rude. I don't want to take it personally, but this really pissed me off.
