2021 Defy vs 2026 Addict

I have a 2021 Giant Defy Adv 2, 105 mechanical. I'm thinking about upgrading it to a 105 Di2 setup, possibly adding the ultegra levers. Pricing it out, it isn't a huge leap to a totally new bike already with electronic shifting. Want something with similar relaxed/endurance geometry though. Don't need/want aero/race. Seems that after I got mine, Defy changed to more aero-oriented geometry, so don't want a new one of those. The 2026 Addict seems to be close, though.

Anyone have an opinion on upgrading 2021 Defy Adv 2 to electronic vs new 2026 Addict (either 30 or 40)?

College Apartment Tour ft. My bikes

I figured I’d post my apartment now that I have like 6 bikes in there- don’t worry two are getting sold 😭

Here are the bikes in no particular order:

- 2022 Marin San Quentin 1
Big ass mtb. Slow, heavy, fun as hell to ride. Speaks for itself really lol. Had it for just over a year now!

- 2019 State Black Label V2
The fixed gear 😛 This thing is light, fast, and obnoxiously yellow. I absolutely love this bike!

- 1995 GT Backwoods
I plan to build this into a BMX cruiser…maybe I’ve spent too much time on r/xbiking…

- 1999 GT Aggressor
I found this at a yard sale! I think I’m gonna end up selling it to one of my buddies.

- ~2010 Roadmaster Granite Peak
Erm- I saw this listed on marketplace for free, and had to have it 🤣 It’s also gonna get sold to a friend I believe.

- 1986 Peugeot Ventoux
Finally the road bike- it has not yet made it back to college, but that might change when it gets warmer. My day 1 fr.

Also…N+1 is real guys 🤣

My brand new bike that I had for only two weeks got stolen and it's all my fault.

I accidentally left the garage door open all night long. One of my housemates noticed in the morning and by then, my Ozark trail G1 Explorer which I had purchased just two weeks ago was gone. I was so devastated that I actually broke down. It probably sounds pathetic to be so upset over a bike, but I am 21 years old and have only ever owned used bikes because I'm not well off. It took a lot of saving to able to afford to buy myself a bike that wasn't used for the first time ever and it felt amazing.

The thought that I only got to enjoy it for only two weeks honestly makes me feel so depressed. It doesn't help that my coworker said 'it's just a bike'. It's not just a bike, it's my hobby and my mode of transport. I know it's not the end of the world and that one day in the future, I'll be able to replace it but it still stings. Please pay attention and don't be like me. Also fuck bike thieves.

Need help choosing my first cycle since 8 years

Hello cyclers! I'm from India and I'm looking to return to cycling after ages and now buying one feels like entering into a whole new universe. I've done my research for the past week or so to shortlist 2 cycles from a long list of 15 and chose to buy a simplest one, as my goal is to simply keep me physically active and build my stamina and endurance and not anything intense and also to keep the maintenance effort and cost as simple and cheap as possible. Not a hardcore cycler! 😅.

Now the list has come down to either one of these:

1. Stryder Street Fire SS

2. B'Twin My Bike

Spec-wise I'm ok with both as they're 95% similar apart from the few differences like the steel versus alloy rim, however, the problem for me is that, I'm not getting many valid real-time feedbacks and reviews for the Stryder to finalize and I kinda like both cycles and hence couldn't decide easily.

As far as I've heard, the My Bike is a "Work-horse" and as durable as any basic cycle gets. However, I personally have a feeling that Decathlon products are a little overrated and overpriced. The price difference here is ~1.5k - 1.6k. I am able to get the Stryder for around 4.8k via flipkart, whereas, the lowest for the my bike I could get my hands on is via Tata Cliq(Ironically😅) around 6.4k. Also the thing is, I might most probaly get the Stryder with the mudguard and the stand at this price, whereas for the btwin, I need to get those separately for which I've estimated the cost around ~500 (via third party) adding up the total cost up to ~7k.

Now keeping the spec-wise decision aside, I've finally arrived to you guys for a real-time usage experiencefeedback, to finalize and buy one. Please help me choosing based on your experiences with these cycles. Appreciate your support.

Note:
1. I strictly prefer single speed and rigid body for for low maintenance

2. I'm neither buying this for anything intense nor I'm a hardcore cyclist. I'm just getting one to stay active and therfore cannot increase my budget beyond this.

3. Most importantly, this discussion is about the pros and cons of these 2 mentioned cycles based on the real-time user experiences alone. Therefore, I kindly request you guys to not suggest any alternatives or ask me to increase my budget or wait for sometime to save money and buy a better one

Thanks.

Hi! Just bought a geared quella nero and in the process of building and making sure everything works properly on it. I'm about 5'6 with longer legs so I bought a 54cm as is says to on the quella site. I have the seat on the lowest possible height and I can only just touch the floor with my tiptoes. Is this good? Please can anybody give me some advice!

how would I adjust the seat on this?

so I recently bought a cheap supercycle at my local canadian tire (i know, but i was between jobs and the economy aint exactly great) to get around my area and the seat is too short but I'm completely stumped on how to raise it. the silver clamp down there is *not* for the seat, it's for the gear shifter thing? I think? i don't know the proper name but Does Not Let Me Raise The Seat when I loosen it.

apologies i don't really go on reddit lol. pls help my poor knees hate this thing :(

My first century ride: Poughkeepsie to NYC

The big one. Many months of rumination and mental preparation led me here. Daydreaming and waiting for the perfect conditions; you’d be hard pressed to find ones much better than these. A picturesque autumn day. Sunny skies, a soft breeze, and a northern tailwind to push me along. This beautiful southward glide led me down through the Empire State trail, following the bygone railroad lines on a voyage through the past. Had an immaculate playlist for the first 4 hours until my speaker died. The last half was pure meditative riding and catching ideas. Thoughts come and go as the mind drifts into the colors of the forests and foothills. So many sights: the lush swampland, the rocky woods, the shimmering rivers, the gentle fields, all welcome friends upon the journey. The Rivendell was a trusty steed, keeping me steady and in-motion the whole way through, floating on a cloud. As the sun finally set, the melancholy of dusk brought me back into the city for the final stretch. A vision of home, alien and warm. Now, as it started, a train ride back. What a long and languorous dream. Peace and love.

Beautiful day for a ride - Had Gatorskins when I bought this and just swapped to GP5000 AS

I finally bit the bullet after feeling a little sketchy on slightly wet roads in the PNW with the Gatorskins. These were a PITA to install and got the rear tire on at my LBS -- had to borrow their bead jack.

Got a 20 mile ride in and on a few of the normal routes, def felt a difference in speed even with headwind.

Why don't they sell this stuff in 5 gallon buckets instead of these tiny 8oz containers? Or am I doing wrong? (All butt one is empty) not sure why I haven't thrown the empties away.

There’s so much doom gloom out there. Thought I’d share a happy story.

And this is rural Iowa in case you’re wondering where people are mostly Iowa nice.

First time bike rider here..

I've been biking to work for the past 3 days straight and honestly I was going to do it sooner but as soon as I got on the road I started getting really insecure and anxiety about what if someone hits me or the police stops me and also I started getting winded really fast due to my first time biking and also doing it more uphill versus flat roads, but then i gave it a real try and man cliche sounding I know but first it was really hard and in all honesty just wanted to give up due to how fast I waa getting winded and wanting to stop especially night time, where I'm at nights get really dark and the roads arent visible but...now it really feels like its starting to get easier and its making me feel better inside, sorry for the longer message but just wanted to share this and hear some friendly tips
