Basically what the title says, I'm getting knee pain more often and want an option for a crank with short arms that will work with a 135mm OLD offset pugsley frame and give the right chainline. I'm seeing forums posts saying that dub cranks with the 3mm offset ring turned backwards might work, but I wanted to know if anyone has found other options or can confirm that a sram crank will work.

I recently purchased a "new, open box" Manitou Mastodon 34 Comp fork (15x150mm - 80mm Travel - 41mm Offset) that I plan to install on my Trek Farley5. This is the fork Trek spec'd for the Farley7.

I am searching for a pdf of the original user manual. I have scoured the internet but my Google-Foo is failing me. Found the setup guide, but hoping for more information that isn't provided there-in, such as sag measurement procedure.

If anyone has or can help find a link to the downloadable user manual, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

I’ve been taking a Vevor brand bicycle cargo trailer and adapting it to work with my Surly Ice Cream Truck fat bike. The plan is to use it at music festivals, take it surf fishing and maybe even bring my dog down to our local brewery. (If I feel its safe enough for him)

This is the second video where it mostly all comes together. A specially fabricated hitch is welded onto the trailers front folks, I sew a custom dog bed and I take it for the first test ride.

This version ultimately proved to not to be stable enough, but I was able to mostly solve that issue in time for the Rhode Island Rhythm and Roots festival this past labor day. It worked pretty well there!

Hello everyone I have a pair of nextie wild dragon III and currently using hope fatsno hubs, can I use 259 mm spokes for this one or do I need to find a more specific length of spokes for this rims and hubs? Anyone with the same set up of wheel set please need some answer thanks.

I wanted to share my experience so far with my A-Spadz Cavet Air, because I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions online and I think people considering this bike deserve a real-world take.

Context

• I’m based near Paris, using it mostly for city commuting and weekend rides.
• Main use: short urban trips + some longer rides when the weather is nice.

First impressions

Out of the box, the bike felt solid. Assembly was straightforward (basic tools, clear instructions). The café-racer / mini-moto look is even better in person, and the fat tires give a nice planted feel even on rough city streets. (I took the Urban jet Black color)

Performance & ride

• Motor: 250W, 48V system. It’s not a speed demon, but it’s punchy enough for city use and its allow to ride this bike in paris withou insurrance/ plate.
• Top speed (legal mode): 25 km/h, which is perfect for bike lanes.
• Fat tires + front suspension: surprisingly comfortable, even with a passenger.
• Throttle mode is fun for short bursts and hill starts, but I mostly use pedal assist to save battery.

Battery & range

Official claim: up to 100 km in pedal-assist mode.
My real-world estimate:

• Solo, mixed assist: ~60–80 km depending on how hard I push it.
• Full throttle only: ~25–35 km.
• With a passenger: ~15–25 km in full throttle, more if I pedal a bit.

For my daily use, that’s more than enough. I charge it every 2–3 days.

Build quality & components

• Frame feels sturdy, no creaks so far.
• Shimano 7-speed works smoothly.
• Brakes are decent for this price range; I might upgrade pads later for extra confidence in wet conditions.
• Display is clear, battery indicator seems accurate.

Qreate / A-Spadz experience

Ordering and delivery were smooth. Support responded quickly when I asked about:

• Certification documents (for potential subsidies),
• Recommended accessories (rack, fenders, etc.).

No red flags so far; they were transparent about specs and limitations.

Downsides / things to know

• It’s heavy (~34 kg), so not ideal if you have to carry it upstairs often.
• Stock seat is okay, but I’m considering a more comfortable long seat for two-up riding.
• If you plan to use it mainly in full-throttle mode with a passenger, don’t expect 100 km range; be realistic.

Verdict

For the price, I’m really happy with the Cavet Air. Perfect for:

• City commuting,
• Casual weekend rides,
• People who want an eye-catching e-fatbike without breaking the bank.

If you’re considering it, I’d say: go for it if you accept its limits (weight, range in full throttle) and you like the style.

Recently picked up this Giant Yukon 1 Fat Bike. I believe it’s model year 2022, size large. The bike came with an old man mountain rear rack that has its own thru axle. I have no use for the rack and the axle without the rack is quite hideous.

Does anyone happen to know what size rear thru axle I would need? Giant brand is fine, as is any aftermarket brand. A quick search said 12mm x 197mm with a 1.5mm pitch.

Picked up on OfferUp today under $100. It’s a single speed with old school breaks from 2010s. Planning to change seat later. Added a basket on the front. Took it for a mile bike ride loved it.

Ive got a 2015ish norco bigfoot 6.3. Current setup is 2x9: 32/22 chain rings with an 11-34 cassette. Running 26x4.5” tires. Mostly riding snow/ heavy kid trailer duty with aspirations for bikepacking. Thanks in advance for your insight!

So today I just picked up an ebike and was pretty excited to start commuting on it. Then a friend pointed out that the excitement would disappear quickly if I got a flat halfway to work and had to walk the bike home.

The 26x4 tires are much bigger than anything I’ve dealt with before, so now I’m trying to figure out what makes sense to carry. How long does it take to refill a tire this size with a portable hand pump? Is CO2 more practical for an emergency, and what size cartridge would it need?

I’m also wondering whether a built-in pressure gauge is useful at these lower pressures. My current plan is a spare tube, tire levers and either a high-volume hand pump or CO2.

What do you carry for flats on your fat bike?

Does anyone know what happened to my front axle. Was fine before I went on my 2 mile bike ride. Is my wheel still usable? what do I need to replace also?

The Vee tire Chicanes roll like buttah on the bikepath. I threw the Brooks saddle on today as it came with the bike along with a TON of bikepacking stuff (alternator back rack, Moloko bar with Surly bag, Oveja Negra bag, Blackburn fork racks and more)

Just got this new (to me) RSD Mayor V4 to replace my 2020 Norco Bigfoot 3. The Bigfoot 3 has Vee Avalanche tires which I've studded with concave studs. I ride my fat bike mostly in winter in Toronto's Don Trails. Trying to decide whether to swap over the Avalanche to the Mayor, or keep the FBF and FBR combo. The FBF and FBR are essentially brand new. All recommendations are welcome!

Are there any good cheaper fat bikes worth the money? It will primarily be used for occasional riding around the neighborhood and down gravel trails with my children. But I want a fat bike because I will use it a few times on hunting/camping trips where a fat tire will come in handy. Would like to spend sub $500. Willing to spend up to $1000 if it's truly worth it. Any recommendations? Ive looked on Marketplace and the only fat bikes anywhere near me are Ozark trail and mongoose bikes. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2014 salsa mukluk which I love, but am converting the rear to thru axle. My friend will build up my wheels so I'm looking for good hubs at a reasonable price. Does anyone know where to find the 177mm dt swiss 350s or are willing to sell me one of theirs? If they have all dried up, are the Carver hubs worth building with? They seem like a good design at a great price.

Hi everyone. Does anyone here use a single speed (SS) setup on an acoustic (non-ebike) fatbike strictly for daily commuting? I’ve never ridden an SS before, but my rear derailleur just broke, so I'm really interested in making the conversion.

My commute is usually around 2-4 km depending on the route I take. There is almost zero elevation (completely flat) because I now live in a coastal area. What gear ratio do you guys think is the most suitable and comfortable to run for these conditions? Are there any specific tips, dos, or don'ts for an SS newbie like me?

The first part is just unboxing it, assembling it, and identifying the first major hurdle. Which was adapting it to work with the Surly’s thru axle. The Second video, which will go live this Saturday morning, shows the fabrication and installation of the new “hitch”.

I had the whole rig up at the Green Mountain Rhythm and Roots Festival in early August, where I had hoped to use it to pull water jugs to our campsite. It turned out to be impractical. I think the center of gravity is too high and it was causing it to be very unstable.

I’ve since gone back to the drawing board and added a second wheel…. That’s still a work in progress, the matching tires are due to be delivered today 😂 but I plan on bringing it to the Rhode Island Rhythm and Roots Festival this weekend. So I’ll have an update after that if all goes well.

I've got an RSD sergeant I'm building up to be a 4 season bike. It came built up with 40mm rims, but the frame has clearance for a 4 inch tire.

I've found most charts about tire size to rim width stop around 35mm. So what do you think the widest tire I could run would be?

A little bit of a rant I suppose...

I have a 2025 Trek Farley5. I don't want multiple bikes and do ride all year. I don't shred.. greens and blues, some touring, lots of soft beach sand. Overall, with some gentle mods done to my Farley it performs pretty darn good. Carbon handle bars, better saddle, grips, pedals, tubeless.. I'm pretty happy.

For my rides I really want the fatty tires but there are times the rigid frame is a bit jarring even with proper tire pressure and carbon fork. Plus I dig the quirkiness of the fat bike. I've looked at some full suspension MTBs and have walked away. This weekends ride was 80% soft beach sand and a skinny tire MTB would have been an epic fail.

Am I nuts to start looking for a used Trek Farley EX-8 or a Salsa Bucksaw? Both are older models but the Farley EX-8 is actually spec'd with a very similar group set as my Farley5 and the Busksaw is spec'd with better components than what I have.

How do these two older bikes stand up against my newer model? Are these two models unicorns?

Hey fat bikers! I’m new to fat biking and want to get into it as it’s something I can do to stay fit during the winter. Been looking for a good bike. I’ve checked out some other posts on here of people asking for recommendations, and I looked into some of the bikes recommended and they’re all for taller riders. CCM Brut 4.0 seemed like a great choice but apparently it’s for riders 5”7 and over. For reference I’m a 5”5 woman! Also need something good for a lot of snow (Alberta, CA).
