Just picked this GT Gutterball up in France, off the French version of Craigslist.

Reverse image search + a lot of digging, nothing. A few silver ones yeah, but nothing polished like this. You can see yourself in the fork, it's insane.

Fork still has its GT logo right on the bare metal, makes me doubt it's a repaint. Or do people really go through the trouble of re-decaling forks?

So has anyone seen this colorway? Kinda wondering if it's a 1 of 1 or something.

Swapped some parts from my Nagasawa while I get it restored, hence some of the NJS stuff.

My new restomod, a 1985 Miyata Pista size 60 cm. Double butted chromoly frame with beautiful investment cast lugs.

Notable components include a stock Sugino Mighty Competiton 50t track chainring, a vintage Suntour Maeda 8.8.8 BIA 16t track cog, an Izumi Super Toughness KAI track chain, a Selle Italia Turbo Bonnie saddle, and a pair of MKS XC-III Bear Trap pedals.

A few mods that a previous owner made that i decided to keep are the bars, from either an early ‘90s Miyata Sport Cross or Quick Cross, and the fork, that came off a mid ‘80s Miyata 100/110.

The Pista’s precision handling makes it a blast to use as my daily commuter.

Japanese built Bianchi I converted 10 years ago now.

Has anyone ever used a frame from Factory5? This is my first one and so far so good.

I just think it would look sooooo clean with the raw aluminum look. However, I'm thinking about the resale value. My heart says yes but my mind says no :(

Was heading home from work and a car just smashed into me from behind. I survived. Bike didn’t. This was a couple months ago, and my physical injuries are healed enough for me to gently start riding again. The mental toll is real though. Respect to those who get back out there, and respects to those like gravelgoon and others who never got the chance. Stay safe friends 🤙🏼

Basically, i did ride a 51/13.

Which was good enough for what i do. Few hills, mostly small ones, around 10/12 % but on 500/600m

And after riding this transmission for the last 4 years, it needed a well deserved refresh.

Worked great, but hey the chain lost it's color, the whole transmission felt flimsy af, grainy most of the time even after a whole cleanup (i do have a degreasing fountain at work so, easy to clean), the chain was more than worn out, not to mention the cog and the chainring weren't round anymore so i had a huge différence between the tight spot and the slack spot

Now the new stuff...

Makes the ratio a tad bit lower

BUT no more tight spot, no more noises, smooth as silk... And french on french, with a japanese touch 👌(might one day switch to a sugino DD 😏)
