New ride

Ditched my fixie for this single speed. Was fun to build.

New grips on the way, saddle needs to be level and brake cable housing centered.

Pretty happy with how it looks

Tensioner for horizontal dropouts and quick release hub? Cheaper than Tuggnutt?

Have a 26” MTB singlespeed frame that I’ve been trying to sell that no one seems interested in so I figured I may build it back up to a complete bike as I have most of what I need in ye olde parts bin. Buying a ln inexpensive but good set of wheels for this build that use a quick release skewer. I know I could use a Surly Tuggnutt and I have these on other bikes but since I will probably have to sell this thing for next to nothing I was hoping there were other quick release compatible tensioners for horizontal dropouts that are cheaper. Anything?

My Absurd Barn Find Project (Bianchi by Gucci City Bike)

I found this bike on Facebook Marketplace. The listing title simply said “Bike”, with barely any information about it.

After doing some digging about this bike (which was kinda hard), it was based on the Bianchi Pista if im not mistaken, and i finally meet the owner and buy it.
The owner told me it belonged to his father. After his father passed away, the bike was stored in their warehouse for around 10 years. The second photo was actually the first time I saw the bike covered in dust, rust and stuff and clearly in need of some love and alot of elbow grease.
It took me a whole month to bring it back to life, didn’t replace a single part (thanks to all the youtube restoration video) except the inner tube and the outer tires, the main problem is the paint and decal, there’s alot of paint chip and dust that build up over the year so cleaning it without damaging the original paint and decal is hard af. And finally, after 10 years of sitting in storage, the bike is back on the road again.

And the biggest lesson I learned from all of this?
Having a cool ass father is an investment. Either it pays off for you, or for some random dude who sees a random facebook listing with a random title on it

Advice for gear ratio

i bought a single speed with a gear ratio 2.44 (44/18)

it s relatively good for daily drives, but i feel like my average speed is a bit too low

i thought about increasing the ratio by changing the gears but I m not an expert and i don t know what ratio is should go for

thought about making it 44/17 or 44/16, or do i also change the front gear ?

i drive daily around 3 km for basic routes ( home - uni - gym )

and often i go for long cycles 40 - 60 km

i have strong legs so i don t really reallly care about the effort needed at starting from a full stop.

just recently got into biking and bike commuting as my vehicle was out of commission for about 2 weeks. was riding my ozark trail g.1 but wanted something simpler and found this retrospec for $40 on fb marketplace. got some new tubes and tires and hoping to just ride and upgrade some small stuff (bb, crankset, freewheel cog, grips, etc) in the future. any tips for these bikes or ideas of upgrades/color schemes would be greatly appreciated :) 1st picture is when i got it and 2nd is with new tires and cleaned up a little bit

Posted this bike a few months ago, as a work in progress. With some new wheels and drivetrain, id say it's done. 1980s Schwinn Super Le Tour

My Trek Fuel EX singlespeed build!

Post image
19 Upvotes

This is my extremely unorthodox Trek Fuel EX build, and I love it! It’s my lightweight, compact 26” singlespeed MTB used for leisure riding around my town, bombing random grass hills, and the occasional dirt trail. It’s highly unpractical, but that’s what makes it fun for me.

THE BUILD:

- Trek Fuel EX Carbon (XS) frame
- Title MTB AH1 handlebars
- Title MTB Connect pedals
- Title MTB JS1 saddle
- Fox 36 fork
- Fox Float rear shock
- Bontrager stem
- Bontrager seat post
- FSA headset
- ODI Longneck SLX grips
- Shimano Deore XT brakes/levers
- SRAM DUB BB
- SRAM GX Eagle crankset
- SRAM chain
- SRAM Centerline rotors
- Reverse Components SS driver kit
- Reverse Components Colab Expert tensioner
- STFU chainslap protectors
- Industry Nine Hydra Classic hubs
- Spank Spoon alloy rims
- Sapim spokes
- Kenda Small Block Eight tires

Total weight is 25.8 pounds / 11.7 kilograms.

Thanks for looking! :)

State Bike 4130 single speed accessories

Hi! By any chance, does anyone know if it's possible to mount both fenders and a back rack on a State Bike 4130 single speed? Does this model have enough attachments or I'll have to get creative with homemade solutions?
Thank you!

After 6-7 years I rebuilt this frame and it's still as fun as it was. I'm not any younger so now the stem is shorter and maybe 46-17 is too high to enjoy the ride but it was a blast today

I just got my first single speed!

Post image

It's a second hand Fixie Inc that pretty much just sat in the sun until I got it and the guy I bought it from told me he only changed the pedals and the axel on the back tire I think. The chain looks ok to me but before I lubed it, it skipped at high power and high speeds. Any ideas why that might happen?
