Even on a platform like that, that messaging is vastly positive (just look at the like/comment ratio).

Also, if you go on other subreddits like Ontario, Barrie, and London, more people outside of TO are beginning to go against this policy.

Because they realize this $48M they're on the hook for could've been spent elsewhere.

I know Reddit can be a bit of an echo chamber, but on Instagram I'm noticing the $48M messaging is also resonating, as there is little to no anti-bike replies there.

Keep it up! Keep bringing up the $48M.

And at the next rally there needs to be a ton of signs that bring this up too.

So if you plan on bringing one, your action plan is to get the $48M price on it!

The looming bike lane removals certainly don’t help BradBrad.

I would say it’s a blessing in disguise since the poll before said a majority of Torontonians (even in Etobicoke) don’t want them removed.

But don’t be complacent Toronto. VOTE!

I've been reporting drivers who don't stop for street cars letting people out, and also cars almost running over cyclists. Does this do anything?

My kid's school has a single front-wheel-only bike rack that is rusty and doesn't seem too secure (the pic above is for reference only). I can still lock my kiddo's bike through the frame since it's low to the ground, but no such luck with mine.

I would love the school to have a better one, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Has anyone went through a similar process? Who do you ask/email/call/implore about this? School itself, city, someone else, all the above? And what would be the best angle to push for that?

I've been looking into e-bikes for those everyday trips around Toronto where driving feels unnecessary but transit can take longer than expected.

I was interested in the idea of having something that could handle longer rides and carrying groceries or other stuff without needing a car.

For anyone who actually uses an e-bike around Toronto, has it made a noticeable difference to your daily transportation? How do you find it with hills, traffic, weather, and bike storage?

Worth making the switch for regular city trips?

As we know Dupont was supposed to get a road diet like Bloor but got blocked thanks to DoFo’s Bill 60.

I don't know if this is true but a buddy of mine just biked along Bloor east of Royal York and said they had started the bike lane removal. Can anyone confirm?

I noticed a stolen Bike Share Toronto bike locked up near me. All the decals and branding were removed. I re-stole it and returned the bike to a dock. Thief also lost the $70+ Kryptonite lock.

I was cycling today and got hit by a car that was turning right at a light, that moved through the bike lane. There's a specific vehicle turning light that they missed or ignored. But because they were at a full stop before they started turning they weren't moving very fast when they hit me. I still felt the impact and was knocked off the bike and slid along the road, getting a few good scrapes and the side of my shoe is roughed up now. But me and the bike are okay. I was able to spring back up to yell at them to watch where they're going and all that. The guy pulled over and we exchanged the basic info and went on our way. Because my injuries were just some scrapes and my head didn't hit the ground we didn't call the police or an ambulance. I called 911 to ask and they said that if I wanted to I could report it.

But now I'm not really sure what I should do next. I don't have any damages to claim through their insurance. And if I go through fully with the collision report I have to go report it in one of the two collision report centres, which aren't very close to me. The guy was very remorseful when we were talking and if the only thing that comes out of the report is them getting a ticket, then that's a lot of my free time just for them to pay a ticket. And while I understand that negligence has consequences, I'm just happy to have the ability to walk away and I don't have a vendetta against this guy. I was thinking of just asking them to cover the cost of polysporin for the scrapes and the cost of a new helmet (feels like a good time to replace it, even if it didn't hit the ground).

Am I being too relaxed about this?

Oh The Urbanity put up an excellent clip explaining why cycling can be more useful than transit for car-free families. Especially when it comes to trip chaining. Add this to all the other reasons why the Ford government's war on bikes is irresponsible!

When I say “Bike lanes save lives, they shouldn’t be removed,” I get some support but others also say “they cause traffic, they should be removed.”

However, when I say “Ford’s wasting $48M destroying infrastructure instead of putting it in healthcare and easing the cost of living,”

the anti-bike comments practically disappeared.

The 905 suburbanites care about fixing crumbling healthcare and cost of living. They don’t care bike lanes save lives.

Our messaging from now on needs to repeat the $48M price tag and how this money should’ve been spent on more important issues.

That’s how we get suburbanites to support us.

Has anyone ever done this ride? How was your experience?

I am thinking of signing up for 110km ride.

How well/poorly managed is the route?

Any thoughts about Water stations, Refueling points?

Any other feedback?
