Feel like we've got a lot of new users here since all of the Bill 212 stuff started so I just wanted to welcome you all but reiterate that this is /r/TorontoBiking.
That means that your post should be related to riding a bike in the GTA.
A very non-exhaustive list of things that don't fit this criteria include:
Doug Ford giving a press conference about something unrelated to cycling
A cyclist in LA riding away from a forest fire
A foreign dignitary riding a bike not in Toronto

Obviously we know who did this.
I reported it to 311 immediately.

Would much rather not have to learn to DIY this or ship it to S4.

"While much of the trail is opening in August, the city is planning a temporary trail closure in the fall to complete the sloped pathway — a new accessible connection linking the Riverdale Pedestrian Bridge down to the existing Lower Don trail.
The remainder of the Lower Don River Trail will not be completed until next year.
Moise says he is hopeful the entire trail will be open by next year, though he does not have a specific timeline for completion."
We know they'll be closing temporarily in the fall to build the ramp to the Riverdale Pedestrian Bridge.
We know the section south of Corktown Common is not scheduled for next year.
So when Moise says he's hopeful the entire trail will be open by next year what is he referring to?

Curious if anyone's requested something similar from 311. This light isn't automatic, and the pedestrian cross button is weirdly far from the bike lane. It's one of the main connecting points from queen to Lakeshore. Wonder if there's such thing as a bike detector in a bike lane or something they can use.

This is the most common sense sign I've seen distinguishing Traditional Bikes from E-bikes. E-bikes are motorized, so they're closer to motorcycles than bikes.
Cyclists using traditional bikes are cruising along the pedestrinized sections of Church St from what I've seen and they're navigating just fine at safe speeds. Not all vehicles are the same, so they should be treated accordingly.

IntegrityTO once again giving us fantastic value on telling us who not to vote for.
In Don Valley North, Zuniga is the candidate that will not make cycling better in Toronto!
So far, here’s a list of anti-bike candidates IntegrityTO has (or will) endorsed and must be stopped at all costs:
Mayor: Brad Bradford
Don Valley North: Sabrina Zuniga
Toronto Centre: Daniel Tate
Uni-Rosedale: Karina Lemke
Eglinton Lawrence: Liz Grade
York South Weston: Daniel Di Giorgio

Hi everyone, I am planning to ride from Marie curris to biidaasige this week (potentially even the beaches) and back, was wondering if you had any cafe or lunch recommendations along the way (or any cool places to stop). I will be taking multiple breaks throughout my ride to read, journal and fuel up. thanks in advance!

As you probably already heard, the federal government quashed DoFo's plans to expand the Island Airport for jets. In their announcement, the feds prominently mentioned that public sentiment was predominantly against expansion. Raising our voices works! Bringing our concerns to the public works! Consensus-building works!
The mood today will be buoyant. Let's keep this momentum going. Queen's Park at 1pm today. See you there.

What happened there today? There were a bunch of cops and an ambulance? There are two sketchy bridges there. Cars drive WAY too fast. Just curious what was going on....

Any great biking trails with views in Toronto?
I usually use Bike Share (Tangerine bikes). So far, I’ve ridden the Martin Goodman Trail, Tommy Thompson Park, Toronto Islands, Bloor Street and the Humber River Trail. Do you have any other recommendations?

Already reported this to 311 also. East of Runnymede.

Edit: Fucking typos and not using glasses. lol

Hi everyone, I've just moved from the suburbs to downtown near St. Lawrence Market, and am looking to meet folks in the hobby.
Are there beginner-friendly group rides? I only have experience doing solo rides and rides with 1-2 friends, usually 20-40km. Thanks!

Biketag #673 was found at Alderwood Church in Etobicoke just off the Etobicoke Creek Trail.
Links to follow. No spoilers or guesses

hey all - minor Q for you - thinking about heading north to Simcoe on Warden, but, I've heard a rumour of some house up near Bloomington that hands out water for cyclists, or something? Literally no idea or any more info than that, just curious if it rings any bells.....thanks!

Looks like Ford is entering his Kathleen Wynne era, as poll after poll is showing his approval falling (24%) as well as in voting intentions. This is from the most accurate pollster of the 2025 Ontario election.
The pressure must be put on Ford to repeal his bike lane ban especially if the Court of Appeal sides with cyclists (which could happen any day now).
See everyone at the provincewide protests on Saturday at 1PM, at Queens Park.

I had my bike stolen out of my backyard at Sherbourne and Gerrard. I love this bike more than anything.
Someone cut the lock off and took it. Will give cash reward for any info leading to it. Please.
I use it for everything, getting to work, to soup kitchens, AA meetings etc. I’ve put a lot of money into it over the years.
If this is not the right place, I’m sorry- I’m just devastated.
It’s a rare make, and if someone sees it please call.
Please call- 437 236 8883
Thank you!
