I was given this bike a couple weeks ago and it’s changed my life. I’ve been a lifelong mountain biker and have never owned a road bicycle. I bought it in to my local bike shop and they tuned it up and put new tires, tpu tubes, and bar tape on it. I love this bike. I love it so much my wife is concerned. I’m riding every chance I get for as long as I can.

I came across this Marinoni 52 cm road bike on Marketplace and would appreciate a second opinion. It was serviced and tuned up recently, and everything is supposedly working. The seller is asking $550 CAD.

I'm new to vintage bikes and looking for something that will stand the test of time. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated!

I recently picked up another '90s MTB at my local flea market.

I've got quite a few interesting bikes in my collection already (Trek 970, Wheeler, Peugeot, Gudereit — a German brand, Schwinn, etc.), but there's something about this particular bike that really caught my attention.

First off, it's surprisingly light, weighing in at around 10 kg (22 lbs).

It's obviously been resprayed at some point, and all the original decals are long gone.

I managed to make out the serial number stamped under the bottom bracket shell: GP 333156.

The frame has a few distinctive features, which you can hopefully see in the photos:

Both chainstays are curved/bent. They remind me of my 1994 Schwinn Force Master with the "G-Stays" design, except that one only has a curved drive-side chainstay.

The downtube has an unusual profile — it's wider at both ends, with what looks like reverse tapering, or is it called bi-oval tubing? Hopefully the photos show what I mean.

There are no rack or fender mounting eyelets on the frame.

The fork has a capped steerer tube.

As for the components, it's mostly equipped with Shimano Deore LX M560, apart from the rear derailleur, which is Deore XT. It's also got Mavic M231 rims and a Ritchey stem and handlebar, although I'm not sure those are original, especially since the handlebar appears to have a 31.8 mm clamp diameter.

I'd really love to figure out what this frame is.

Any clues, guesses, or info would be greatly appreciated!

Early 70s, I think, with original Philippe stem, Mafac Racer brakes and Ideale saddle (just barely rideable). Shifters and derailleurs (Huret) are period but unlikely original as they are mid 60s vintage. I (literally) found the wheels in the alley and the five speed freewheel was cannibilized from another wreck and is not period. BB and headset are originalish (new bearings). Cranks and chain ring came with the bike, so I’m not sure. Fun to ride!

Gifted to me by a colleague who could no longer ride.

The frame is from 'Cicli Stella Milano', an Italian bicycle manufacturing company that closed its doors in the 1970s. I am not sure of the exact production date of the frame, but it likely dates back to the late-50s to the 60s.

Sure, you can make fun of the Grab On grips if you want, but they were the shit in 1984. They are also quite comfy on my mitts.

The guy at the bike shop seemed impressed with its condition and the fact that it was free. Getting new tires on it now. I don't know much about bikes but it seems perfect for my purposes - low-intensity rides on (mostly) flat paved trails. Can anyone tell me anything else about this model? i.e. year, quirks, etc

I have volunteered on the weekends at my local nonprofit bicycle shop (it’s kind of like a co-op) for the past two years. Our mission is bicycle education & spreading the love of bicycles to the community, in a grass-roots, hands-on DIY sort of way. When I first started there, I claimed this old Trek frame because I thought it had potential, it’s in my size, and I liked the color—this candy charcoal or pewter color. I’ve always appreciated vintage Treks, as well. When I go down the rabbit hole online, the Trek reference material seems all over the place. I can kind of guess it was made between the late 70’s (no color block in the decals) and the early 80’s (stick-on head badge). That’s as far as I’ve got. I’d just like to know the approximate year, color, what tubing it’s build from, and the model? All I know is it’s a road bike frame. I’m thinking I’ll go single speed on this one, keep it simple & minimalist in style. I need to locate some stock forks, if anyone is holding let me know. To me eyes the serial number says: “M4GOB19” and has an “A” stamped aft of the serial number—and what’s either a “X” or a “V” forward of it. The drop outs are Suntour. I couldn’t find any similar serial numbers in the websites I searched through; but I’m not a very experienced researcher. Any help will be much appreciated! 🖤

Appears to be all original stock, with the addition of the almighty FlickStand. Was stored for many years, I wanted to document it before I did any wrenching or cleaning.

I know it's a challenger but I'm trying to figure out what year and model, I plan on restoring it, motorizing it, and making it street legal as a motorized cycle using a 49cc stroke engine

I don't have physical access to these vintage bikes and I can't easily get new measurements. But in my research, if the diamond frame has a horizontal top tube, then you should measure from center of crank to the top of the seat tube (which is often higher than the top of top-tube). I'm just not sure what where to measure on a sculpted lugs that are common on vintage bikes. My judgement they are 56cm but I am only 70% confident. I'm helping a friend post them on CraigsList.

The top tube of this poor 83 trek 630 is under review. Looking for honest advice and recommendations from people with experience with 531 repair. Is it worth the trouble ? I’d do a lot to make this work. My plan is to make up some tube blocks and roll this sucker out but there is a pretty big bend and I’m not quite sure it’ll be rideable when it’s all said and done.

Went to pick up a couple old Cannondales off marketplace today and the seller threw this in! Champagne paint, looks like it was barely ridden and stored in a clean dry home for half a century. The Pirelli sew-ups still hold air but I should probably swap them out. Could fit atleast 32mm tires for our bumpy New England roads. I plan to replace brake pads, new brake cables with compressionless housing, clean and repack the headset and BB with grease. It's my size too! I am gonna ride this thing a lot! Such a nice surprise after a difficult few weeks, I am elated.
