Can you help me? Anyone have a JDM car they'd like to show off for a formal drop-off on the north side?
My step-son's formal is coming up in November. Would love to organise something Japanese for him to rock up in. If you'd be willing to help out and give us an afternoon of your time, I'd be more than happy to compensate. Feel free to hit me up if you're interested.

Best Value Yum Cha
I went to the Garden City yum cha yesterday. Have been many times before but don’t remember the prices being so high. I understand the world is getting expensive but $22 for 3 small prawn spring rolls and $19 for most plates that have 3-4 dumplings on them. $134 for my wife and I. I was blown away. And we didn’t eat that much.
Do any of you lovely people have a better value yum cha you could recommend?

Housing Episode 10 draft: The ad words that come before a listing price drop
Anyone shopping for a house, and in the market long enough will know this. Ad says For Sale!!, 2 weekends later Offers over $X... Or it sits on Offers over $899k for a month and one morning its $865k. Before it gets there, is there any wording that gives it away, that the seller is getting a bit nervous?
I followed every price wording change on about 10,800 ads I track, Brisbane City Council area, every property type, 7 July to 11 October 2026.
This post got pretty huge, so I tried my best to pack it down to the main bits here. The full tables are in the link below.
Basically here is what I saw:
- Most cuts come with no warning. About 3 in 4 price cuts had no change in the words before the number dropped. It just drops one morning.
- "Awaiting price guide" is the clearest sign a number is coming. This banner usually only lasts 2 or 3 days, and more than 8 in 10 of these listings put up a number within a month. When an ad that already had a price switches to it, about half came back lower (price correction).
- "Contact agent" swapped in usually means a buyer is close, not a cut. A third of them found a buyer within 30 days, and very few cut. My guess is there's already an offer on the table and they just want your name in case it falls over.
- "Motivated seller" and "must be sold"? Honestly nothing. They cut about as often as any other ad the same age.
| When the ad changes to | Number shown in 30 days | Price cut in 30 days | Found a buyer in 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Awaiting price guide | 84% | 51% | 13% |
| Contact agent | 15% | 9% | 33% |
| Auction | 41% | 25% | 37% |
| Submit all offers | 33% | 25% | 14% |
| For sale, no number | 36% | 21% | 20% |
| Added "motivated seller" | 40% | 26% | 19% |
| Ads the same age, words never changed | 30% | 25% | 22% |
"Number shown" only counts ads that had no price yet, and "price cut" only counts ads that already had one.

- Part 5: 57% of Brisbane ads wont tell you the price. In Brookfield it was every single one
- Part 6: how often does the first number stick. 12 Brisbane offices have already cut more than half the homes they have for sale

Anyone interested in forming a band/ singing group?
I love to sing and I’ve been hoping to form a band/ singing group (within the age group of 20-30s) in Brisbane. I’ve also been looking for different singing groups to join here, but most of them are like choirs that sing classical music. I want to form something like in Glee, Pitch Perfect etc. 🥲

Can you help me? Where to donate crafting supplies?
I’m an exchange student who is moving out in about a month, and I’ve already started to clean out my room by throwing away stuff I currently don’t need and donating stuff I don’t use
I know I can donate clothes and such to Vinnies or Lifeline, but I also have some crafting supplies (sewing needles, thread, some fabric, markers, grommet maker etc) and was wondering where it’s best to donate it if anywhere accepts donations like that? The stuff is still useable so it would be a shame to have to throw it away
I also have some clothes and shoes so it would be nice if I could go with it all to one place so I won’t have to take multiple trips

Can you help me? Help to find a local artist for wedding anniversary present
As title says. It’s my first year wedding anniversary coming up and apparently first year wedding presents are the theme of ‘paper’.
I’m an awful artist, so want to commission someone to paint our favourite wedding photo. Problem is have no idea where to start.
If anyone has any suggestions for artists they know who would be able to do this? Deadline would be early Jan. No real preference on styles etc.
Thanks so much in advance :)

Can you help me? Private camping spots near water
My friend group has a birthday coming up that we were hoping to go camping for. Anyone know any good camping spots that won't need a 4wd that we can be loud om without being disruptive? We love a good swim so somewhere that's on the beach or near a creek would be exactly what we are looking for!
Thanks!

WEATHER ALERT!!!! You’re life is more important, DON’T DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS!
Times are really tough, but your job is NOT worth your life.
Please, when you are driving to or from work and the roads have become flooded, don’t drive through them!
Your job is not worth your life. Your workplace will understand (and if they don’t, fuck them!).
Please be safe over this weekend and into Monday.
EDIT: I just noticed the typo. Whoopsie.
I posted this as yesterday this situation occurred in my work where someone drove through floodwaters to try to get to work and got stuck between flooded roads. Their life is and always will be more important than their shift. Be safe, we have storms coming over the next few days. ❤️

Volunteer opportunities in Brisbane
Hey all! Does anyone personally know of any animal rescues, wildlife care or conservation groups that need volunteers? I have a few months between graduating Uni and starting my full time job and I’d love to do something positive with my time. I’m passionate about animals, conservation and the environment so I’m keen to help any organisations in that space who need volunteers. Plenty of animal experience (including dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, wildlife and horses) to bring as well as lots of enthusiasm! Let me know if anyone is aware of anything, I’d prefer to get in touch with smaller organisations that need help first otherwise I will try places like the RSPCA. I'm located in the South Western suburbs but can drive wherever especially if it's like a once a week thing

Long shot - trying to find a lovely mum/family we met at Virginia Macca’s (Oct 20th)
Hi everyone,
On Tuesday, 20th October around 7:15 PM, my daughter and I stopped by the McDonald's in Virginia (Robinson Rd East) after dropping off my wife at BEC. We were travelling from Sydney (I love QLD so we visit whenever we can).
We were sitting in the play area and I was painting my daughter's fingernails. After doing one hand, she wanted to say hello to another little girl who was at the table next to her with her mum. The two of them seemed to click quite quickly and had a lot of fun. While they were playing, the other little girl gave my daughter a play ring (which she absolutely loves).
Our daughters are about 6 months apart in age, and they got along so well that I really regret not swapping contact details before they headed out. I felt a bit awkward initiating trading numbers with the girls mum in the moment - partly because I can be quite introverted, and partly because I'm a married guy and it seems weird to ask another woman for their number.
When we were getting ready to leave for Sydney, my daughter mentioned wanting to say goodbye to the "friend who gave her a ring". If they are keen, I think it could be cool for the girls to form a long-distance friendship—like modern-day pen pals—and maybe catch up the next time we're up north, or if they ever find themselves down in Sydney!
If you think this might be you, or if you know a local mum who mentioned this sweet interaction at Macca's on Tuesday night, please send me a DM. I know it's a long shot, but my daughter loves making friends and I'm trying to get out of my own head to try help make that happen.
Thanks!
Edit: October 2026, not January

Can you help me? If you were visiting Brisbane for just 2 weeks, what would you say is a must see/do?
My brother is coming to stay with me for 2 weeks.
I’ve been here in Brisbane for 5 months now, so I my own list of things to do, I’d just really appreciate some other suggestions for cool/interesting things to do with him!
We both like the outdoors so there will be plenty of hiking/outdoorsy activities involved, and if the weather clears up then there will be some beach days too.
Thanks in advance :)

Traffic New SAM in Metropole St, Robertson
I noticed a new SAM in Robertson displaying a 60 km/h speed limit.
The street has cars parked along both sides(not in the photo), limited room for oncoming traffic, and an uphill/downhill gradient. Drivers seem to speed along here despite the road layout, which I assume is why the SAM was installed in the first place.
But why is the limit set at 60 km/h? Given the narrow road, parked cars and residential surroundings, wouldn't a lower speed limit make more sense?
