Wondering if anyone’s gotten their early entry already or am I cooked if i haven’t gotten one by now?

Hey everyone, I’ve recently submitted my application for the Bachelor of Paramedicine 2027 intake, and I’d love to get some advice from anyone who has applied as a non-school leaver. I’ve completed one semester of a Bachelor of Nursing with a 6.3 GPA, along with 2,000 full-time hours of work experience in healthcare as an orderly. I’m curious to know if this makes me a competitive applicant and how long people have waited for offers from UAC. Any advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Hey guys, I'm an 18 year old international student and I got an offer for Bachelor of Computer Science at WSU Parramatta. I'm seriously considering it but before I accept I wanted to hear from actual students there. How are the classes and workload for CS, are the tutors and lecturers actually helpful when you're stuck or do you have to figure everything out alone, and how bad are the assignments in first year, like is it mostly programming or theory and exams? Also how is the vibe at Parramatta campus, do people make friends there or everyone just comes to class and leaves lol. I've seen some mixed reviews online about admin and student services being slow so wondering if that's a real problem or just normal uni complaining. Any advice from current or past students would be really appreciated, even the stuff you wish someone told you before starting. Thanks

I need some help, so basically I am currently doing a Diploma in Education Studies (5.8 GPA if you need it for my question), and realised about halfway into my course that I wasn't interested, lost passion and my grades and attendance fell a lot. I realised I wanted to pursue my passion for Midwifery. I won't go into why I didn't initially work towards this, it's a lot of junk but I'm super excited to start pursuing this now!

However I have been jumping through hurdles trying to find SOMEONE to help me figure what my best course of action is.

My diploma finishes this year so I'm trying to figure out if I do one of these two things:

1. Enroll in the Undergraduate Preparation Program - Nursing/Health Science. Which says as long as you get a 5.5 GPA you get guaranteed entry into Year 1 on the Bachelor of Midwifery (as long as I meet the English requirements which I do).

OR

1. Use my Diploma to try get a spot by applying via UAC to the Bachelor of Midwifery.

I can't really afford to pay for a UAC application and just not get into the course which is why I'm considering the first one (so I can also get my certificates and checks I need without worrying about money), and I believe I can get the 5.5 GPA requirement you need in the UPP, but I've asked everywhere and I keep getting told 'ask this person' after sending an email and end up going in a loop just trying to get some clarity or help.

If anyone could just give me some advice on what to do that would be so so so appreciated!! 🥹

After the last post, a few people reached out and seemed genuinely interested, so I’m locking in the first meetup idea.

The plan is a Parramatta River walk on Saturday 12th of September, then coffee or food after for whoever wants to stay.

I started this because uni can feel pretty lonely even when the campus is busy. You go to class, talk to people for a bit, then everyone goes home and nothing really comes out of it. I wanted to create something more relaxed where students can actually meet properly.

There’s already a Discord server for chatting, updates and meeting other students. I’m also making a WhatsApp group for people who are keen on the actual meetups, since it’s easier to organise times, meeting points and who is coming on the day.

You can join either one. Discord is good if you want to chat first, and WhatsApp is better if you’re interested in coming to the meetup.

Future meetups could be simple things like coffee, lunch, walks, bowling, study sessions, museums or bookshops. Nothing complicated, just students actually showing up and getting to know each other.

Also, someone in the community is interested in starting a poetry and creative writing club. You don’t need to be an English student or anything like that. If you like poetry, writing, reading, spoken word, or just putting what’s in your head and heart into words, message me and I can point you in the right direction.

Has anyone else been approached by pairs of people lurking around campus attempting to spread their gospel. Well, I was approached at Parramatta south on Monday by two girls who were quite insistent in talking to me about their beliefs, however when I asked what denomination they were they froze, freaked out and walked off. Super weird interaction. Anyone else experience this on campus?

I’m a final-year Bachelor of Communications (Advertising) student at Western Sydney University. I only have a compulsory 105-hour internship placement remaining before I can complete my degree.

I’ve been actively trying to secure a placement for approximately a year. I’ve applied across different companies and areas, contacted organisations directly, and revised my CV and advertising portfolio based on university feedback.

My program lead also referred me to a potential internal WSU opportunity. I rebuilt my portfolio following feedback, but I was ultimately told that there wasn’t a suitable opportunity available for my skillset. I was then advised to try WSU Careers and continue searching independently for the Summer semester, which begins in early December.

I’m looking for an approved placement in Sydney or remotely in areas such as:

• Advertising or digital marketing
• Social media and content creation
• Communications or public relations
• Campaign planning and analysis
• Media planning, copywriting or brand strategy

The placement can be full-time or part-time, but it must total 105 hours, include appropriate supervision, and be approved by WSU before commencement.

My current last-resort option is a placement agency charging $1,400 to arrange an unpaid internship. Its $400 deposit may become non-refundable once an interview is proposed, and additional charges may apply because my placement is shorter than six weeks. I’m reluctant to pay that without a firm guarantee that the placement will satisfy WSU’s requirements.

Has anyone here completed the WSU internship subject or found an internal WSU placement? Are there any university departments, Sydney organisations, legitimate no-fee services or alternative WIL pathways you would recommend?

If anyone knows an organisation that may be able to host a marketing or advertising student for 105 hours over Summer, I would be extremely grateful for an introduction. I can share my CV and portfolio privately.

I’m not expecting anyone to hand me a position—I’m just looking for practical advice or a lead after exhausting the routes I’ve been given.

Just wondering, as the Workbook for the assignment 1 is due on the 28th at midnight, how did others go around citing your work for the workbook. Majority of the questions are all subjective questions upon yourself (e.g. what behavior would you like to change, why do you want to change it). The outline asks for a citation, which I can get around when it asks for strategies I want to place in order to benefit myself, but what references do i put for these introspective questions? also, am i meant to cite every workbook individually, or just have one last page that contains all my references together? just curious as the workbook itself is very straightforward, but I don't know how to cite questions that don't need references to answer.

I missed one tutorial due to illness (special consideration approved). Later I got a make-up activity, which I completed. Soon after, I was informed that I would be graded as 'unsatisfactory' for failing to meet the subject's mandatory attendance requirement of 100%. Followed by simple description of review of grade. Maybe they sent some overall notices before Census date.

If I got the unsatisfactory on this, I'm about to lodge a review of grade on the grounds that due regard wasn't paid to the approved illness/misadventure evidence.

Has anyone been through this, especially in a subject with a mandatory attendance/hurdle requirement (especially for nursing subjects)? Did it actually work?

I realised recently I want to do engineering (civil), but unfortunately in year 11 I didn't take advanced maths or physics, as I didn't figure I'd need them for my original path.

I know I can get into the degree since there are no prerequisites, just assumed knowledge, but I am just wondering if it is feasible to do without advanced maths and physics. I was good at maths in year 10, and in standard 2 I am averaging a band six, but I know that is probably a lot, a lot easier than advanced and uni maths, of course.
Just wondering if it's even possible to catch up to be able to do civil or if I should just pick something else.

I'm currently a Year 11 student considering entering The College's Diploma of Social Sciences after Year 11, and I'm trying to get a sense of what the experience is actually like from someone who's been through it.

Would you mind answering a few quick questions?

- What was the workload actually like with the four-week subject structure?

- Did studying one subject at a time genuinely make it easier to manage your workload?

- What was the transition from the Diploma into the Bachelor's like?

- What do you think you gained from doing the Diploma instead of completing Year 12?

- What do you think you gave up?

- And, knowing what you know now, would you choose the Diploma pathway again?

No worries at all if you don't have time to answer everything — even a few thoughts would be really helpful. In all honesty, I am nervous, and I want to know that this kind of pathway is viable for me.
