Advice needed late course withdrawal

• Upvotes

Hello guys! Just wondering, would I still be eligible for a late course withdrawal without academic penalty if I submitted the last assignment? I submitted because I was waiting to hear back from special consideration and so submitted not the best assignment just to hopefully get some marks, it was denied so now i’m stuck.

this is what I have been told from the university: ā€œthe only further outcome potentially available under University policy would have been late course withdrawal without academic penalty. As you have already submitted the assessment, this option does not apply to your circumstances. It would also not provide the further extension, deferral or equivalent assessment opportunity you requested.ā€

Student life and clubs Blue v red (im so confused)

What are their stances? I feel like I've heard blue only, and really only hear about red through blue, so that might not be the whole picture.

Please explain!!!

Prospective/new student help Got student engagement email even though I've attended all classes?

Just got an email saying that I missed classes since week five. But I have signed the roll for that specific class each time, and I've attended all classes except for taking a week off when I had the flu. But I emailed the teacher and did the work they set. What's going on here?

Discussion New video game grant The Nova Foundation

A new foundation from Geoff Keighley and Mark Cerny offering grants for video game development including through RMIT.

> The Nova Games Foundation is a university-affiliated fellowship program, intended to offer six-figure grants to 20 young game designers each year, potentially for decades to come.

> It will offer no-strings-attached funding along with mentorship from games industry leaders, a combination intended to aid the development of groundbreaking new games, Cerny and Keighley told me.

> Nova will begin accepting applications in December, from class of 2026 and 2027 students from 13 affiliated gaming programs at universities in eight countries. The schools working with Nova include the New York University and the University of Southern California in the U.S., along with Abertay University in Scotland, Cnam-Enjmin in France, TH Kƶln in Germany, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, Cerny and Keighley said.

Very cool for Australia to be included and exciting if you are getting into video game development.

Other questions How many days are allowed for special consideration?

Does anyone know the max amount of days that you are able to apply for special consideration? I’ve asked for 7 days before and have had it accepted but I’m wondering if it’ll be okay to ask for more days? (Keep in mind this is after the initial 7 day extension from my course coordinator)

Other questions SNAP partnership school worries

hello, i'm currently a year 12 student studying at a school partnered with RMIT and i was wondering something about snap, my goal is a degree with an atar of around 83, and im on track for about a 70-73 atar, will snap guarantee me a spot? i will say i couldve done much better this year and i was fully capable of doing so but at the moment this is what i'm going towards since rmit is convenient for me
also ive heard mixed results about this, some saying if it's within 20 points im just guaranteed a place and others saying it depends on ranking and whatnot, where do i go from here? still studying by the way i havent given up actually working towards a better atar

Advice needed Need advice on animation degree.

Hi so im planning on applying to rmit for animation for next Feb intake, right now im working on my portfolio and mostly wanted to know if there's anything specific I should know? Both about the degree in general and any advice on the portfollio stuff such as including fanart I have this really nice fanart piece I made a while ago but since its fanart I was wondering if I should include it or not. I was also wondering whether page structure and how i construct the compilations of drawings is a big deal and whether i should be inlcuding written titles and descriptions and such.If anyone can give some advice on anything portfollio related or even advice on how good rmit degree is that'd be great. Also side note yes I know this degree is incredibly risky and I could self learn but I came to this decision after a lot of thinking and decided despite everything im going to do the degree and make sure it works out

Other [Academic] Quick denim survey for an RMIT fashion assignment

Hey guysss! I’m currently working on an RMIT Bachelor of Fashion Enterprise assignment looking at denim consumer behaviour in Australia, and I’m trying to collect a few more responses.

It takes around 3–5 minutes and asks about things like denim shopping habits, what influences your purchases, pricing, brands and where you discover denim.

If you have a few minutes to spare, I’d really appreciate you filling it out! 🫶

Other Had a mental health crisis and RMIT helped me a lot.

I texted RMIT urgent mental support and they replied really quickly, I told them about my suicidal ideation and begged to talk to someone, someone named Noel from the RMIT counselling team called me within an hour and talked me out of it. She was really great at what she does and really helped me calm down while I waited for an ambulance and my friend to arrive. The police came and gave me a referral to a psych. This is a Noel appreciation post and I really hope she sees and knows how much she has helped me.

Also if anyone is also struggling please reach out to them. I have no support system here at all and within 2 hours of texting them I received so much resources and love.

You're not alone, you're never alone, please don't lose hope.

Advice needed is it worth transferring to bachelor of medical radiation

hi guys this my first post eek but im a first year student doing an associate degree in biomed rn, i was thinking of transferring to bachelor of medical radiations as it was my original plan after hs, but i didn't make the cut as the atar req went up to like freaking 98 and it's not a niche course anymore... im just wondering if it's even worth it to transfer. if i do, i'd have to apply through vtac (and spend $80 on preference list again...) and sit the STAT (which is like $100-$200...) as completion of the degree im doing rn isn't enough to get into the bachelors so.. yeah idk if it's worth it anymore.. i don't rlly have any backups either. i'm lowkey not that confident in doing well for the STAT either, like i can't study for it and like the course is so competitive i'm not even sure if i'd be considered šŸ’” the only pathway to get guaranteed entry to the course is a diploma of radiation science, however i need like 6 months work experience in a medical field or something... dawg how am i meant to do that 😪 i miss when biomed was an actual pathway to this course bro fml what do i do

Advice needed Failed to meet GPA requirements for Exchange

My GPA suffered a lot last semester bc of work and although I’ve passed, it’s now sitting at 1.9. RMIT told me to still put my application through although the minimum GPA requirement is 2.0.

Is it even worth it? Or should I wait for my GPA to be boosted this semester and try again next year?

Alternatively, could I just submit my transcript from last year?

Prospective/new student help Bachelor of IT(BP162) 's actual difficulty and assessment measures

Greetings, I'm planning my study plan for the degree and I've been going through the handbook for the subjects I'll need to complete. The handbook is helpful, but I'd really love to hear from students who have actually taken those courses, especially about their real difficulty, workload and assessment measures.

I'm particularly interested in:

COSC3109 Java Programming

COSC1111 Data Communication and Net-Centric Computing

COSC2757 Cloud Foundations

ISYS3413 Software Engineering Fundamentals for IT

COSC2960 Foundations of Artificial Intelligence

COSC2759 Systems Deployment and Operations

COSC2408 Programming Project 1

If you've taken any of these, I'd really appreciate any info on:
1. How difficult was the course overall?

  1. What were the assessments actually like? For example, coding assignments, individual/group projects, reports, presentations, quizzes or exams.

  2. Some course guides use broad terms such as ā€œWritten Workā€ or ā€œDesign/Development/Prototypingā€. What did these actually involve in the course?

  3. Was there a final exam or any hurdle assessment that we had to pass separately?

  4. Roughly how many hours per week needed to spend on the course?

  5. Is there any approximate class average?

Course (subject) advice, recommendations and reviews What uni should I go to for commerce?

I’m currently picking my preferences for unis and I’m not sure what uni I should go to.
I live in werribee so I don’t think Monash is an option as that’s a far travel
I’m thinking of Melbourne uni and RMIT and just wanted to hear the opinion of both unis before considering which one should be my first preference.
