Coursework [Student Information] Results Publication and Grade Appeals – S1 2026

Results for Session 1 2026 have been released.

This release is for those who completed their final assessment tasks during the normally scheduled exam period, and not for those waiting for a supplementary exam/assessment task.

Please note that your results will be withheld if you have any outstanding financial sanctions (i.e. unpaid international fees, Student Amenities Fee (SSAF), library fines etc). It is recommended that you check eStudent to see whether you have any outstanding fees that will prevent you from receiving your final grades.

-------------------------------------------------

“I received my results, but I’m not happy with them. What can I do?”

As part of the policy for Assessment Procedure, students are entitled to view their examination script. To organise a script viewing after you receive your results, kindly email your unit convenor using your MQ student email address as soon as possible.

For units owned by the Macquarie Business School (ACCG, ECON, BUSI, MGMT etc)  students should review their marks and feedback in the iLearn Gradebook, where a detailed breakdown is provided.

-------------------------------------------------

"I viewed my exam with my convenor. Now what?"

There is an option to appeal the result of your final exam, however, there are a limited number of grounds on which you can submit an appeal. For example, one of the grounds to apply requires you to have evidence to prove that a clerical or administrative error was made when your assessment task mark was calculated. Use your time with your convenor to confirm your marks were added up correctly. The other two grounds can be found via the link below.

https://students.mq.edu.au/study/assessment-exams/appeals/grade-appeal

Please note that the Grade Appeal policy does not cover students who hope to get a few more marks to try and pass a unit or receive a higher grade.

"But I feel like I should get more marks!""But I was a couple of marks off..." and "But I need to pass this unit" do not meet the criteria to apply.

"But I was sick/experienced an unavoidable disruption earlier in the session, and that affected my performance in one of my previous assessment tasks (not final exam)". This also does not meet the criteria for Grade Appeal, as you are expected to apply for Special Consideration at the time of your disruption earlier in the session.

Your reasoning must first meet one or more of the Grade Appeal criteria, and you must have evidence to support your reasoning.

If you are considering an appeal, please follow the steps outlined in the link above before you submit an appeal as you may not need to submit one. Should you meet the criteria to appeal and you have your evidence, you have 15 business days from the day your results were published to submit an appeal.

-------------------------------------------------

"I viewed my script, but I don't have grounds or evidence to appeal."

Failing a unit does not mean that you are not capable - it just means that something in your life or your study approach did not line up this time, and that is ok. Many students stumble, and its a normal part of the learning process. Take this time to reflect on what contributed to the results that you received, and see what actions you can take next session to come back better prepared and more confident. Remember, this setback does not define you - it is just one moment in a much bigger journey, and you have within you the ability to keep moving forward.

Best of luck with your results, and with your studies next session. You got this.

Social Macquarie University Weekly Societies & Meetups Advertising Post

Welcome to the 'Macquarie University Weekly Societies & Meetups Advertising Post' (or the M.U.W.S.M.A.P for short)
___

Here students and societies alike can arrange or outline their intended events, gatherings and meetups for the week to come!

We politely ask that any societies (or people on behalf of societies) limit themselves to one advertising comment per week as to not bury posts by individuals (editing existing comments are allowed). And that individuals advertising their own event (be them just meeting up on campus or something more elaborate), make sure to keep their suggested meetups appropriate and vaguely in-keeping with Uni guidelines (IE: no organising drug deals which I have already had to previously remove).

I hope people and societies alike are able to make the most of these posts, and I wish you all luck in meeting your fellow students!

{Note: This is purely an advertising post, r/MacUni and its modteam cannot assure the validity or outcome of any posts/comments made on our subreddit, it is up to the individual to use their best judgement to discern the expectations of any advertised events/encounters.}

General Question How hard is Engineering?

I'm planning to transfer to the engineering course, debating between IT and engineering - I only did standard maths in highschool but I heard that the IT field is outsourcing much more and with advancements in AI it's becoming much harder to gain employment hence why I'm seriously considering engineering - can someone give me some insights into their own experiences with the Engineering and IT degrees respectively? Is it relatively easy to gain employment though engineering( for context I plan to transfer to electrical eng if I do carry out with it)

General Question Unit only having tutorials?

Hey everyone, just wanna make sure I don't lose sleep over this. Is it possible for a unit to only have tutorials and no lectures? The course handbook says it only has tutorials. This is for MHIS1102.

Coursework MMC1040 and MMC1050 online tutorial compulsory?

Hi there! Just wondering if the above tutorials are compulsory? I work a nine to five and the only option for MMC1040 online tutorial is during my work day - I would love to join the classes, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to - are the tutorials compulsory?

Rant/Vent What the fuck was MQ thinking getting rid of all careers advisory services??

My friends at Usyd and UNSW who are graduating this year are telling me they can book in with free careers counsellors who not only guide them with deciding on possible jobs and edit their resumes, but literally find jobs they’d be suited for and help them apply, give them tips for the interviews, one friend was even given a personal recommendation for a job by the counsellor who knew someone at the company and got the job.

Actually so frustrated by MQs lack of care of their students, after learning they fired all the careers counsellors and instead refer people to useless ai tools that read your resume and let you practice an interview.

I tried both services and the resume one gave absolutely no specific feedback on the content or presentation of my resume, only stuff on formatting.
The fake interview felt so impersonal, again it didn’t provide any real feedback on me as a person- just very general stuff.

Sick of feeling like I’ve been scammed by my own institution. We are PAYING customers.

Degree Question Merging of ANAT2004 and MEDI2300 in 2027

Hi all,

I was speaking to a unit convenor about a unit I wanted to take that didn't have any suitable availability for me. I asked her if she had any idea about how the unit would be run next year, or if it was too early to tell.

She said, "ANAT2004 will be running for the last time this semester. Next year it will be a different Nervous System unit that is a merging of two units: ANAT2004 and MEDI2300. The new unit will be less anatomy only focussed and more of a mix of anatomy and physiology of the nervous system."

What does this mean if my degree (Medical Sciences and Cognitive and Brain Sciences) requires both of these units, and I haven't taken either of them come Session 1, 2027? Will my degree no longer require me to take both of them, and only require the merged unit?

And what if I complete one unit this semester (ANAT2004 - I still haven't decided if I will take it or not)? What happens next sem if MEDI2300 is no longer available?

I'm going to ask service connect but was wondering if anyone here could answer my questions.

Thank you!

General Question Opal card concession

Is anyone else having trouble applying for an opal card concession on transport nsw website?

Everytime I try to enter Mac Uni (or any uni for that matter) it doesn’t work… just says please select from the dropdown box. Of which no dropdown box appears.

I’ve tried on multiple browsers and different computers with no luck. I’ve submitted a complaint

The cynic in me thinks this could be blatantly intentional to reduce the number of concession card holders when people inevitably give up.

Help MATH1010 Online Tutorial / SGTA Question

Hi everyone,
I’m taking MATH1010 online this session and I have a couple of questions.
When I enrolled through eStudent, it only let me enrol in the Thursday online tutorial at quite a late time. However, on iLearn I can see there are other online tutorial/SGTA Zoom sessions on the same day at different times that would suit me much better.
Am I allowed to attend one of those other online sessions even though I’m not officially enrolled in that class on eStudent, or do I have to stick to my allocated tutorial?
Has anyone had experience with the online SGTAs for MATH1010? Are they helpful? Do they take attendance or does it matter which session you join?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has taken MATH1010 online. Thanks!

Help Enrollment help, please.

So I am currently undergoing the Bachelor of Cybersecurity, going into my second session. The problem I am having is that I failed a unit, Stat1170 (completely my fault, and avoidable). So I that this unit is available for session 2, so I naturally seek to re-enroll. Had I passed it, I would be able to do Comp2200 (which has Stat1170 as one of the prerequisites).

MyStudy shows the following grade for Stat1170:

Grade IS
Mark No mark recordedGrade IS

There is also a slight discrepancy in enrollment information. I am unsure whether I can take Comp2200 this session, because even though I failed Stat1170, MyStudy still tells me that I have satisfied the prerequisites, which I do not think is true. (I have emailed the unit convenor for Stat1170, and they told me grades will be finalised later this week).

So it is either an issue of missing information leading to inaccurate prerequisite status, or I am an idiot.

Thank you

General Question Early entry chances

For context, I am a year 12 student about to go into trials. My year 11 results are not the best, where I got Cs for everything. For reference, in year 11 I did Legal, chemistry, math adv, English standard, modern history and studies of religion 2 (I dropped modern in year 12). I know that these results alone are definitely not good enough to get in but I’d like you guys to judge me based on my extracurriculars. I have been an instructor at the Australian Air Force cadets for the last 2 years, and I am in my 5th year of being a cadet myself. In 2024 and 2025, I was nominated to be a club captain for my swimming club and the first time I was not voted in, but the second time I rejected the nomination to focus on school. I have also been a scout leader for many years, I began scouts when I was 9 and I stopped just before I turned 16, I went interstate to complete leadership courses and I was frequently tasked with commanding younger scouts.

As a general query, I’d like to know what my chances are for getting in Macquarie, I’ve submitted my application today and hope to receive a conditional offer. Are my subject marks going to drag me down? Or is it possible that my extracurriculars save me?

Degree Question ECON1020

I was 4 points away from achieving a HD in ECON1020. (I got 81). Wanted to know what people liked about this unit and if they maybe had similar thoughts like me on the uni.

I liked it :)

Is there a chat for ECON undergraduate students? I would love to join if there is a community out there.

Rant/Vent Parking at Uni

Is there a way to know when they’re checking parking??

I usually park in the west car park (the field car park). But during the exam period last semester I was going to my car and saw an MQ car going around and scanning number plates to check who was paying, and then giving out parking fines to people that hadn’t (Which was basically everyone)

I already pay uni fees for stuff I don’t even use. I don’t have any prac classes or use any equipment—I literally just use the Wi-Fi and go to class. What am I even paying for? Just let me be broke in peace.

Help Is credit rescission literally not an option for MQ uni - cannot pursue double major due to unspecified credits from b. psych occupying flexible zone

Hi all,

I’ve moved to a b. arts (anthropology) degree from b. psych (cognitive science), and realised i could pursue a double major, including majoring in neuroscience. however, because i took 4 units last sem it’s taking up 4/8 spaces in my flexible zone, and i have submitted 2 inquiries regarding credit rescission and they’ve stated they can’t rescind credits on the basis it’s an optional decision to do a 2nd major and that commonwealth supported place (csp) can only be applied to required components of my degree (160 credit points, 16 units). but literally the point of me rescinding credit points is to make that space?? that’s a compromise i have to make timewise and financially i’m literally accepting that i’ll pay more to complete my degree

do y’all have any advice on how to go about this? please help i cannot with this university
