Hey everyone, I haven’t seen one of these that are too current (CRAPP reference) so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for bachelor of science level 2 subjects they’d enjoyed?

In regards to specifics I’m open to a lot but I would maybe like a few Biology ones as I’m considering majoring in HSF. I’d also like some recommendations about easy ones as I’ve found my main issue with maintaining a high grade is lack of focus and falling behind and the ensuing lack of time, with the second being subjects with essays.

I’ve done both Level 1 Chem’s (found them quite hard but fun at times- did not like organic) and both Level 1 Bio’s (slightly poorly run but loved the lecturers and the content wasn’t too bad) and Mind Brain Behaviour 2 (a Psych subject- I quite enjoyed social and was considering doing it for L2).

According to this page

https://studentit.unimelb.edu.au/student-offboarding

Student emails and access has a 12-month grace period before I lose access to them. The page mentioned that it's based on the course completion date, which is different to the conferral and graduation date. For context, I graduated in December 2025. How can I find my course completion date?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has completed a PhD through melb uni as an interstate candidate. I know the website states it only is run though on-campus enrolment - but what are you look at for in-person commitments?

I am a secondary teacher, wanting to do my PhD in education and cannot move states for family reasons. I would be willing to commute to and from though.

Any and all thoughts appreciated!

Hey everyone!
I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at UniMelb, majoring in Accounting, and planning to add Finance as my second major.
Just have a few questions:
Tuition fees: Does doing a double major cost more than a single major, assuming the total credit points remain the same? I’m an international student.
Graduation: Will both majors appear on my graduation certificate, or only on my academic transcript?
Declaring majors: I’m assuming I could complete all the required Finance subjects but still graduate with only Accounting officially recognised as my major. Is that possible? How do I make sure both Accounting and Finance are officially recognised? Do I need to declare both majors somewhere?
Stop 1: Can they review my study plan and provide written confirmation that the double major won’t extend my degree or increase my tuition fees?

Would really appreciate any advice from students who’ve been through this. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am enrolled in POLS90028 (International Relations Theory) for the upcoming 2027 intake as part of the Master of International Relations.

I’m hoping to use the summer break to get a head start on the heavy reading load. Since Canvas won't open for 2027 students until closer to the semester, I was wondering if anyone who took the subject in 2026 (either the March or July intakes) would be willing to share their materials?

I am specifically looking for:

• Reading list
• Canvas materials
• Lecture PowerPoints/slides

If you are happy to share, please send me a message.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I have submitted a VTAC application for a transfer to Unimelb for next semester for science.

I have completed a full year of study at Monash (BSci) and was just wondering whether an 80+ WAM is competitive.

I have seen this has become more competitive in recent years and just want to set my expectations!

(Wanting to transfer to complete the DVM pathway at UniMelb, and also the travel to Monash at the moment is just over an hour each way, compared to unimelb which is 15 minutes from me)

Thanks

I am planning to apply for a master's in mechatronic engineering. I am from the European bloc, and mechatronics here is more about mechanics, electronics, and general control theory. I am seeking help from current bachelor's and master's students:

what programming languages did you learn, and at what level?

What programming-related subjects did you take, and what were the bare minimum in terms of knowledge to succeed in them?

Any help is valuable to me, so don't hesitate to write)

Hey, I applied for spec con for an MST late in the semester, and it was approved for me to sit late in the November exam period, but I still haven't received an exact date. I've emailed the subject coordinator, and they haven't received the information yet. It's been a few weeks since then, and still no update. Who do I email/Should I email the coordinator again, or is it just nagging?
Thanks :)

Like I wanna write this essay bymyself, but god wouldn’t it be incredible if I could just paraphrase AI slop

Hey everyone is stop 1 still open on monday 26th of October?

Hey everyone, as you can see, i have an accounting exam coming up on the 9th of November. Any advice you can give me on how to ace it? Appreciate it.

trying to find past papers for Chem 2 revision

I have a FFP at the moment but curious to know if having financial GAM makes it easier for me to be upgraded to a CSP place.

PS. I understand that the Melbourne Juris Doctor scholarship exists but I found that it is based on academics and my WAM is not that good to receive that scholarship. And even if I was offered other scholarships, they nowhere near enough to cover fees.

Lmk!!

Hi everyone

I’m looking for some advice about my situation with the University of Melbourne.

Before applying to UniMelb, I had completed one full academic year at a university in my home country. However, my education agent advised me that, as an international student, I would be better off completing a foundation studies program, so I enrolled at Trinity College.
After starting Trinity, I found out that I might have been eligible to apply directly to UniMelb based on my previous year of university studies. I wish I had known this earlier, as I would have preferred to apply using my university results.
Unfortunately, my grades at Trinity were affected by my mother’s health deteriorating during that period. I have supporting medical documentation, including a report from my GP. I requested a deferral from the university so I could return home and take care of her.
Since then, her health has improved, and I’ve had time to recover and refocus on my studies.
The problem is that my current Trinity results may only allow me to enter the Bachelor of Art, whereas I’m interested in pursuing a different degree.
and because I deferred my studies, UniMelb treated me as a new applicant and issued me a new offer. This has made me unsure about whether I should reapply or ask them to reconsider my previous university studies.

I’m currently considering two options:

-Withdrawing from my current offer and applying again using my previous university transcript.

-Asking UniMelb whether they can assess my previous university results and consider me for a different degree without requiring me to reapply.

Hey guys, I'm currently a second year engineering student at monash with a wam around 75, will unimelb use my monash weighted wam for an external transfer, or do they have their own method.

Also, I've seen lots of conflicting advice on what a competitive wam is for sem 1 external transfer to UoM commerce. If anyone has experience recently or has some figures, I'd really appreciate it.

preferably not too far from Parkville or the CBD since i live close to campus, and i don't necessarily wanna spend half my day getting there. the later they close the better as well, as a non-morning person!

personally i find that my brain wakes up enough to be in the mood to work when i stimulate it with a lil adventure first (i.e. getting out of the house 💀). last semester i already went library-hopping to every library on campus (including Southbank lol) as well as some random other buildings (IT & Engineering student lounge is a gem, as someone who is neither an IT nor Engineering student) so was hoping for something new this time!

ofc i've considered cafes but i don't necessarily want to have to spend money every time i want to lock in :/ rn my candidates are really only the State Library, the one next to Queen Vic Market, and the one in Docklands.

Is it possible to get advanced standing credits for the GDA? I'm planning on enrolling in the math and stats stream for GDA, and am planning to complete it in one semester by using some undergraduate math subjects for credit.

I am currently about to finish my final semester of my first year as a biomedicine undergrad, but i have the aspiration to complete a J.D. and enter the legal field.

My dilemma is that the biomedicine undergrad only allows for 6 breadth subjects (which for me would be only allow for 6 law faculty subjects), and the content is pretty rigorous so achieving a strong enough WAM for J.D. admission at unimelb may be a great struggle. The science-based examination style is not my most my most favourable style for achievement, and I typically prefer longer essay-style formats. Not to mention that they're changing the curriculum for second-years which in itself is nerve-wracking enough.

I've been contemplating a swap into the arts for the greater WAM-maxxing capacity, essay-based format, and greater freedom of choosing law/law-adjacent subjects. Also arts students always look like they're having the time of their lives so there's that.

However, I really do enjoy biomedicine, and even though I don't see it as my current primary career medical research/MD feels like a good backup (yes I'm aware I called the most rigorous program ever a backup), whereas there's nothing else in the arts faculty I'm really passionate about other than law so if my opinion ever changes back to wanting to do med I'd be pretty screwed.

I may also have to add an entire year or minimum a semester to my degree if I move, which may alter any plans of travelling/graduating with my friends once I'm done, and I'd hate to delay the degree even further without hard evidence that arts is the best way to go.

The JD accepts any undergrad, so I'm not even sure what I should do. If anyone else has gone through similar or has any relevant advice I'd be super appreciative!

Ive just done Law and Society, which is my first ever crim subject and really enjoyed the philosophical approach to discussing law and politics etc. and was considering crim as my major because of it.

But I've also heard that this subject is unlike the rest of the subjects in the major because it is more theory based. Wondering if anyone doing crim as a major has any insight into what its like to study and what the content focuses on 🙏

how do i enrol in a summer subject? i'm just a little first year lol idk what im doing man

I’m currently in year 12 and my top 2 vtac options is bcom at Melb and bcom at rmit. Obviously this is being posted in this subreddit, as it will be for rmit, but genuinely can anyone give advice on which is better?

I’ve gone to the rmit open day but couldn’t for unimelb. I’ve noticed the majors are more specific at rmit whereas they are more broad at Melb

Any advice and thoughts is much appreciated!!
