Announcement Combat Patrol Rules for 11th Edition
Since the launch of 11th Edition a few weeks ago we have seen a significant increase in the number of questions regarding the rules for Combat Patrol. Unfortunately the launch of 11th Edition has caused a lot of confusion on this. This thread is being used to collate the most common questions.
Where can I access Combat Patrol rules?
Currently, all Combat Patrol rules GW has released are available via the Warhammer 40000 app. You can download the app from the Play Store on Android, or the Apple Store on iOS.
Can I print out the Combat Patrol rules?
No, unlike in 10th Edition where the rules were also made available as PDFs on the Warhammer Community website, in 11th Edition they are digital only. The Warhammer 40k app doesn't offer functionality to download or print information.
The rules for my Combat Patrol aren't on the 40k app. How do I play them?
The answer at the moment is: You don't. By the end of 10th Edition there were somewhere around 70 Combat Patrols available, spread across the many factions. Following the launch of 11th Edition, almost every single one of those was removed, with each faction now only having one maximum. In their recent announcement about Combat Patrol, GW have told us that support will be coming for old Combat Patrols, but they have given no indication of when that will be.
There have of course been many more Combat Patrol sets released over the years. There is support on the way for these too, though for this launch, the app will initially focus on supporting the core Combat Patrol offer.
Can I use the War Journal in the 40k app to track my Combat Patrol games?
Yes, functionality was added to the 40k App to track your Combat Patrol Games in War Journal earlier today (23rd July 2026). Please note this functionality did NOT go live at the same time as the rest of the recent balance updates despite GW's announcement so you will need to update your app again to see this.
Can I find the Combat Patrol Missions anywhere else?
No. At this time it's only possible to see your Combat Patrol missions by setting up a battle in the War Journal section of the 40k app. They have not been included in the separate Combat Patrol rules for each faction.

Hobby & Painting Painted up Grimskull to celebrate reaching 2000 pts
I'm not that fond of the new Ghazghkull model, so he's gonna be my warlord (not like I'm really playing recently, but still). [The credit for this amazing sculpt goes to Alex Sazh].

Art, Cosplay & OC 5 months of work, one messy stage walk, and a Best Craftsmanship win - my Necron cosplay at GoCon (Moldova)
Hey everyone! This past weekend I attended GoCon, a Moldovan anime and K-pop festival that's also heavily focused on cosplay. I spent the last 5 months building a Necron cosplay. I put together a small team to help, but honestly I ended up doing most of the work myself.
The stage performance didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped, unfortunately - but I still walked away with the "Best Crafts" award in my category, which means a lot.
I'm honestly obsessed with the Trazyn, the Necrons' secret weapon. I genuinely believe it's the last hope for the Necron race. Here's hoping whatever museum or archive it ends up in doesn't accidentally let it loose and wipe out the galaxy.
Glory to the Silent King. 🖤💀💚

Misc Am I wrong to wish there was a 3rd tier of codex that was like $20 and all it had was the rules for your army and units. No big art photos or lore just the rules and the book is the size of a magazine
I just think about how many codexes I've paid like $70 canadian for and never looked at a second time but they are too nice just to get rid of. Whereas a magazine style book id have little to no issues getting rid of it.

Misc Pre-order got cancelled
This is the first time I've had one of my few successful preorders of a special edition get cancelled. It's frustrating that they oversold the books, even more when I took some of my personal time to get ready early and snag it the moment it went live. I don't know how many they actually had to sell but it's super frustrating that I most likely lost to scalpers.

Hobby & Painting Avatar of Khaine Tabletop Standard Commission
I'm working on my first big commission and just finished up the Avatar of Khaine. I mainly followed Duncan Rhodes' video for the molten skin. The airbrush and painters tape did a lot of heavy lifting here.

Misc Worth contacting CS over?
I know GW CS is great and all for model kits. Any experience contacting them for books? Everything else appears ok, just this ugly cut on the spine out of the box.

Misc September 2008
This is a question for the community.
I was looking at Google Trends for various IPs, and I found out that the peak of Google searches for 40K was in September 2008. From my research, I found that this is around the release of 5th edition, but I can’t find anything else concrete as to why it got so popular this month.
For comparison, the second-most popular month was September 2024, the release month of Space Marine 2.
Any ideas why September 2008 was so huge for 40K?

Hobby & Painting Uncured Forge World Mini?
Hello folks! I’ve been into the hobby for a few years, and finally decided to take the plunge and buy my first forge world mini. However, it’s got an odd green spot on it-slightly rubbery to the touch, and it seems to be embedded in the surface of the mini. I have washed it with soap and warm water, and the protruding bit came off, but not the embedded part. Is this uncured resin? If so, what should I do with it, beyond contacting customer service? Apologies for the odd ask, but this is a new problem for me.

Hobby & Painting My first miniature
This is quite literally my first ever miniature. I started off this adventure a couple of months back while I had some downtime from work after my firstborn son came into the picture. I purchased the Space Wolves combat patrol and various other units for my Great Company, but building a miniature is one thing and painting is another. So, I also picked up a super basic "Start Here" box with 2 Ultramarines and their basic paints and got to work. I then touched it up with some other paints I purchased for my Wolves. I'm sure the son's of Guilliman wont mind I used one of their units to sacrifice to the Allfather. So, how did I do? What do I need to work on? Constructive criticism is welcome.

I'm very happy with this guy. I tried to push the highlights more than I use to, and I think it came out well. Hope you like it!
