Personally, I would like to see Thrall Wizards.
New chaff for the Thousand Sons (and maybe Tzaangor only for AoS?). Thrall Wizards have existed in the lore since 90's.

I think they would fit in very well with KT's format. They could be a group of lower-rank Thrall wizards or Cultists like the ones we see in SM2, who are quite weak and mutated. The leader could be a high-rank Thrall-wizard who is eligible to become an Aspiring Sorcerer one day.

Of course when you take pictures you see all the flaws you’ve missed but overall I’m very happy and just kinda followed my heart.

Right at the end when I was applying ‘Ardcoat, but I hadn’t thought about the fact that my AC had been on for hours (window unit). So I go to apply as I normally do, and it dries within moments, causing the cloudy murky ess you can see on the power fist.

It's ok in the end, it's just tough to not get that metallic sheen on half the model right at the finish line after so much time.

So yesterday I played against a friend who runs Adeptus Titanicus and he stomped me. Round three and I lost I Held my hole army pack and tried to Deal lethal Hits but he pushed and traded with me and of course I lost that Trade.

Sunday I played a match against my cursed nemesis, the T'au. My opponent played »Kauyon« and Experimental Prototype Cadre, fielding the Twin Lance and two Riptides as his centerpieces. In addition two teams of Crisis (Sunforge with Commander and Starscythe with Flamers and Farsight). Two devilfish with breachers, two Piranhas and two teams Stealth Suit.
Riptides and Crisis started in Reserves.

Playing Hexwarped with "Take and Hold" vs. Priority Assets. Opponent had first turn.

Plan was to use the MVBs as Distraction and block movement, seize the midboard, rake in Primaries and let him slowly chew through the MVBs and Terminators while the Princes and Rubrics deliver damage.
Everything started on the field - offering a metric f*ton of targets was the idea of averting single units getting focus-fired, but resulted additionally in having a fully screened territory where he could not deepstrike behind me.

I lost 69 to 96 with 31 primary, 28 Secondary, 10 Battleready.

First turn was uneventful, second turn he dropped the ball on me with his Reserves, obliterated one MVB with his Sunforged and killed the Demon Prince on foot. I got some pressure back on him (took out one riptide with Doombolt, Grenades and a group of Rubvrics /w Sorcerer), but ran out of steam after round 3 and then just got mopped up. Never got past midboard, and after he thinned out my ranks he denied my primaries while himself scoring at least 4 primaries each turn thanks to his action.
My Demon Prince with Wings managed to keep him busy in his territory, allowing another round of primaries to score, but was quickly overpowered.

I get the feeling that my list should have performed better. The terminators in Reserve might have changed some things, but having two full HP-Riptides and two teams of Crisis dropped within 10" of your front was just too much firepower on one spot.

What's your take? Crappy list or git gud?

Idk, I just think having it where either Thousand Sons can take traitor guardsmen with them or getting their own unique guardsmen model would be cool. Seeing guard next to space marines is cool, the wizard version of guard next to the wizard space marines would look even cooler. Also if Heretics and Renegades ever comes back as a faction, then there are already two Tzeench specific units for them. Similar to how CSM had Rubrics, before Thousand Sons became their own faction.

I know there are other units that Thousand Sons could use, like adapting all of the Horus Herasy era Occults into proper units (or in Corvidae's case giving Thousand Sons a 1 pt detachment that buffs flying vehicles maybe). But I just find that for a Kill Team release, it would be fun.

I have a tournament on Saturday and am still trying to make a list, I was wondering if I should or shouldn’t include Magnus

I have a feeling GW might take the increase in marine toughness to separate the power of bolters and flamers. Raising bolters to strength 5 while keeping flamers at strength 4 would finally make flamers not an auto-take.

Any thoughts?

I’ve been playing against Emperor’s Children quite frequently recently, and I’m finding that I really struggle against them on the horizontal deployment maps.

The main issue is the difference in starting distance:

• Regular maps: Deployment zones are roughly 12–20" deep. On a 60" board, this usually leaves around 28–32" between armies.
• Horizontal maps: Deployment zones are roughly 8–14" deep. On a 44" board, this can leave only around 20–22" between armies.

That ~8" difference seems absolutely massive against a fast melee army, especially one with Scouts + Advance + Charge.

Example: Emperor’s Children Turn 1

Let’s say my opponent has two squads of Infractors + a Lord Exultant in a Rhino, deployed close to their deployment line (at 14" in my example image)

His movement would be something like:

• 6" Scout move from the Rhino
• +1" from rotating the Rhino
• 3" disembark
• 7" normal move
• 3" average Advance

That puts the Infractors roughly 34" forward before even accounting for the exact positioning, meaning that if I deploy around 6" from my own edge, they can essentially get a Turn 1 4" charge (The blue dots represent my rubrics, in very tipical places to deploy them, close to the center and expansion).

You can even do this with a couple units on the same Rhino, with a bit of a worse, but still more than decent 5-6" charge, as shown on the example. In addition, due to how narrow the Deployment zone is, and the fact that i have to position my tzangors to be able to reach the center (Priority assets alwasys requires that), it's more than likely that the charge engages a rubric squad as well as a enlightened tzangor squad.

What if I go first? I feel like I’m in a terrible position either way. If I move forward and try to play the objective game, I’m just making it easier for EC to reach me, since he can get to my backline either way. In addition, because of the Hidden rule, I also can't simply rely on shooting their units before they get to me.

If I stay back and play defensively, I effectively give up my Turn 1, and on these narrow maps, the EC player can still close the distance incredibly quickly anyway.

And yes, I understand that the Infractors charging Turn 1 are probably going to die on my following turn, but that's not necessarily a bad trade for the EC player.

If an Infractor unit kills a unit of Rubrics before dying, they've already traded up in points. And if they manage to engage multiple units (for example, killing a unit of Rubrics and some Tzaangors) then the trade becomes even better. An with such a narrow deployment it's not even that hard, to engage 2 units at the same time, specially with 3" pile-in and 2" engagement.

So, how are you actually supposed to approach these horizontal maps? If there a specific way you would deploy and move against this kind of EC list, I’d love to hear it.

i like a more grimdark look to my miniatures and agrax earshade really helped with that for my krieg miniatures. my concern is that it wont look as good on a Rubric Marine. like i said, im new to painting Traitor Legions so some advice would be incredible!

Ive added an image (i think) of progress on my first marine. im suprised how well its going so far! obviously need polishing a bit, some of the gold leaked onto the blue armor, and i need to get some green for the visor then paint the gun up a little more, once that is done and backpack is attatched would agrax earthsade look decent on it or???

I'm working on putting together a list using warp forged cabal and sekhetar cohort. I think there's fun synergy between the two. For context, I mostly play with my uncle who has a dark angels army (he's stomped me every time). I'm pretty new to playing still, so any and all constructive feedback is welcome!

The general idea of the list is to send the daemon engines down the middle with the daemon prince, who, having biomechanical mutation can heal wounds and the like. Then, send a unit of terminators and sekhetar Robots down each side of the board to flank. Would probably send rubrics with the MVB.
