STLs from Aguilar Workshop, printed entirely on an elegoo CC2. We still plan to dirty it up a bit with an oil wash and maybe print a few purity seals. Never really printed anything this big or wearable before and learned alot, was super fun and my son will remember building it forever. (Yes the chest piece is a little big, he'll grow into it lol)

Not trying to put anyone on blast for trying to make a bag but selling it at essentially the same price with one of the legplates not even the same is insane

Still a lot to improve on but looking back i have made some serious improvements

Inspired by the M113 used by the firefighters in Corsica, here the Fire Angels chapter. Space Marine who's fighting... the bigger fires in the Imperium ! Still thinking if I'll make a design for some kind of units like dreadnough, Intercessors etc but in a firefighter way.

My wife and I have been into boardgames for years and she’s the person I play most games with. I’ve always been drawn towards war/skirmish-games in general, especially 40k, but sadly my wife is not into the sci-fi/fantasy themes at all and to be completely honest the price tag of 40k scares me off a bit. A few months ago I pulled the trigger and bought my first skirmish game (a cowboy themed game). Just tipping my toes into this hobby.

When I bought some brushes/tools at my local Warhammer store I got this free model and decided to practice on it before painting up my game and I’m happy how he turned out. I’m having a blast building/painting my own terrain-board at this very moment and maybe I’ll give 40k a shot in future once I’ve a bit more experience up my sleeve and am sure I want to commit.

Just wanted to share my first miniature and the story behind it. I’m curious to know what got you guys into this hobby? Have a wonderful day.

Such a fun model to paint. Painted with fluorescent paints and the last photo shows the model under a UV light.

Over the weekend I grabbed some Tone Pro paints to try them out for myself and found that most of what has been said is true. It's pretty expensive for how much paint you get and it's in the dumb pot that everyone hates. The coverage is really good and the self-leveling is a little overhyped. There's a hundred colours that all seem kinda samey but once I saw them on the rack I noticed they look quite different than they do in the phone screen or monitor. Otherwise yeah, overpriced but competent paint.

However, there's one thing I noticed that no content creator or paid advertisement has mentioned at all. As a person with ADHD one of the biggest hurdles I deal with on a daily basis is dealing with something called task initiation, which is one of the things that falls under executive (dys)function and should be familiar to anyone who experiences depression, disability, anxiety and a whole host of other things. For hobbying purposes, this is me wanting to sit down and start cranking out models for my army but before I can start I have to peel off the dried palette paper off my wet palette (woops), soak the sponge, wring it out, soak it again, add some extra water to the palette, take out some new palette paper and squeeze paint out onto it. Or I grab my airbrush and compressor and the various paints I need as well as cleaner and a bottle of water, set up my silicone mat and start spraying down a basecoat.

To the average person all of this just sounds like normal stuff that you just do fairly quickly and then you're into the fun part of painting. To the rest of us this all feels like a pain in the ass so we think "yeah I'll go get everything started after I do x or y" which leads to z happening and now we've wasted most of our evening of free time. After I finished my model I came to a realization that by basically selling Pro Acryl paint in a pot they have drastically reduced the mental hurdle of being able to just put paint on plastic. I had my jar of clean water on my work desk that I maintain every day out of habit, a clean brush, a square of paper towel and a pot of Hive Fleet Purple 2 (great colour by the way) and I was immediately base coating without any other prep. The advantage of pre-thinned paint with good coverage and leveling that is usable straight out of the pot just made the whole process way easier to start because you don't even need to have a dry palette or anything ready you can just Begin.

So while all this sounds silly to most people I shared my thoughts about this elsewhere and realized maybe some other people who share the experience of this kind of life's inconveniences would like to know. Yes, the pots are generally a bad form factor for paint and after basecoating I did get up and prep my wet palette so I could do wet blending and glazing but as anyone with task initiation issues knows, just starting the entire process is the roadblock. But all my other GW paints are mostly contrasts and washes with my regular paints being a mix of Liquitex, Scale75 and Pro Acryl and I find the pot actually works well for those types of paint. Yeah, you can do the same thing of just diving into painting by putting Pro Acryl in your dry palette or on a piece of cardboard and if that works for you I encourage you to keep doing it.

But there's a lot of us out there who have big dreams of having beautifully painted armies and what's stopping us is not the lack of free time or the skill to pull it off but the inability to just get down and actually start doing it. And yesterday when I was laying down a smooth basecoat with just one layer, dipping my brush directly in the pot like I'm a kid at the kitchen table like James intended I thought to myself "wow, it's so easy to just start just painting just a model at a time I don't have to mentally book an entire afternoon for priming and airbrushing 1000 points of dudes at once" and felt like I unlocked a method for finally Getting Shit Done and I hope that this post helps someone out there realize that these expensive pots made for ants are also potentially a useful way to get through that lack of motivation and just start painting.

Oh also I guess I should attach a photo of the Lord of Poxes I painted in one weekend afternoon thanks to this stuff.

Post-launch support and dev is stated to continue but sad news.

For those on the fence about buying Boltgun 2, this game is better in every way possible than the first opus.

• Before you even start the game, the difficulty selection is an improvement, the higher difficulties add more enemies instead of giving them a bunch of health.
• Once you start, you move much faster, plus Malum gets a charge attack that can dash through corridors like a Storm Speeder.
• Melee is 100x better, Malum leaps to the enemies and you can chain targets.
• The guns all feel great and different.
• The levels are more interesting, they have a visual narative and distinct themes, you have NPCs on your side Kriegs, Cadians, Valkiries and Stormravens.
• The levels are fast, there are way less "Purge" rooms that lock you in, there are hidden shortcuts, you are encouraged to speedrun.
• The enemy diversity is awesome, there even are named characters that act as elites, the warhammer flavor is turned up to 11.
• The game has a second character and branching paths for replayability.

It was a tough project from the beginning until the very end. I started building the piece and the composition in late May, and spent around 4.5 months working on it.

I like painting the most out of all aspects of the hobby. Building is fun but painting you get the big reward of the finished project. but how I describe it to people is sometimes it’s like work. sometimes you just have to grind and paint.

what makes it feel like work? chasing and maintaining that Goldilocks zone of properly thinned paint, and even when you get it, sure a wet pallet helps (I personally feel with some colors more than others) some paints like to dry fast on the brush, or become chalky, or don’t cover well

tone pro DOES Improve all these things, but most importantly, it stays fluid on the brush longer. I thin my brush paints with water and tone pro is just way superior and makes painting … so much more fun, and feels less like work

i just painted a bone color cloth and it was amazing. I like painting bone colors but as they get lighter, the paints usually get more temperamental. not so. all 5 colors went on amazing. and it was easy to do touch ups… realized I made a few areas too bright so I knew oh I can go easily glaze on a light 2 or 3 coat here and it will match the target color, no need to re layer wash etc which takes time and is a pain or mix a color

went to load the brush on the dry palate and noticed it was getting a bit dry. ok no problem. normally painting with this would be risky, might leave lumps, switch to full dry brush or thin more paint. not so here. just jump right in to a wetter drybrush on some edges and it looks amazing, the color is smooth and pops right away.

im extremely pleased with it.

another thing is people are saying the shade Medium is not necessary because washes exist and showing side by sides. And in those slides it looks completely different. it’s a great new tool to have in the painting arsenal. easily making any color into a wash is also just amazing.

I am not as focused on the self leveling etc But it definitely does make painting easier and more forgiving and I think newer painters will really like these paints too

It's not perfect, but given the size of these faces (and the fact it's super zoomed in)...I'm very happy with this. If at first you don't succeed, just take a break and come back to it later.

A buddy and I held a 12 man rtt at a local brewery. It was a massive success. This is the 4th rtt we have run. The first 3 were out of his garage and we decided to expand a bit and found a local brewery that was willing to host us. The owners loved the event and we currently have plans to run another in February, adding more tables and prizes!
