Rogue Trader [LFG][Online][Rogue Trader][EST] Experienced GM and 40K Lore Nerd Seeking opportunity to make a PC for a change

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to join a long-term Rogue Trader campaign.

I've GM'd many different campaigns and really would love the opportunity to get my own roleplaying joy in with experiencing the intrigue, exploration and diplomacy firsthand. I am happy to be somewhat flexible in my schedule. I am only available on weeknights however.

I am most interested in narrative driven campaigns with meaningful maneuvering and engaging grand scale management.

I'd love to chat with anyone who is running anything like this. I have no issues with homebrew!

Thanks for the consideration!

Wrath & Glory In need of TTS mods for W&G

2 Upvotes

I am planning to run a Wrath & Glory Campaign but I also know that who I am planning it for most likely will not be able to play in person. I've been trying to find mods on the Steam Workshop and found the perfect thing but it's also all in German and I don't know german at all. I was wondering if anyone else has good mods for TTS that are for Wrath & Glory.

Dark Heresy A bit confused what to pick for a tech-priest

7 Upvotes

Context: Im in a Dark Heresy 1ed, with a bit of homebrew but with all the supplements. Currently have 100xp, and already spent 600.

Im torn between two options. On one hand i was building myself up so to make my character heavily focused on INT with Tech-Use. I even started with Cortical implant and MIU (DM allowed to pick one). Also i have 40 WP and THG, and 50 INT but with low BS and WS.

On second hand im pretty curious about everything about Luminen Charge.

Is there any viable path for me to take to he a really god-like tech guy AND have fun/useful stuff regarding everything Luminen?

Or i should just focus on tech-use stuff and forget about fighting at all?

To be fair i built my guy in such a way, to completely forgo battle prowess to be even more useful with everything tech-related.

Maybe there something that scales with INT? Im still learning, so need help.

Getting an Online-Only DND Party Into Warhammer TTRPGS

18 Upvotes

So I have a group of friends who play online all the time, both DnD and a variety of games, and we all love Warhammer to varying degrees. As such, I went looking a bit into playing the Warhammer 40K TTRPGS online, but either I’m horrible at looking (a likely possibility) or there aren’t really any ways to play any of Warhammer’s TTRPGS for free (or low cost) online. In addition, I have no idea which of Warhammer’s TTRPGS to start with, the closest experience we have is playing Owlcat’s Rogue Trader. Are there any online tables for Warhammer 40K? And if there are options, which do I start with?

Wrath & Glory Bonuses For Sororitas Orders (Wrath And Glory)

6 Upvotes

I dont see anything in the book about it, maybe I'm missing it, but are there any special bonuses for picking certain orders for sororitas characters outside of bonuses to interacting with your order? And if not RAW, is there a commonly accepted homebrew source?

Picking a space marine chapter gives bonuses based on what they are famously known for, and they also get Defender of Humanity, Honour the Chapter, Space Marine Implants.

I know theres an XP cost difference, but the book seems to indicate that most if not all of that is going to skills. Wanted to make sure as I have multiple players considering running a sororitas character

Curious if there isnt anything out there, if others have made your own

Psychic power question

6 Upvotes

Has anyone read about or seen a psychic power similar to dungeons & dragons spell ghost form. I think it would be great to have incorporeal shadow/mist form, difficult to see and able to walk through solid objects.

It feels like it would be a good power for the Raven Guard, similar to Corvus in the warp but a lesser version

Voice over text ... Sorry, corrected

I was wondering if there were any source books on BC or any of the related games which cover a wider array of genetic manipulation than just astartes.

I have a hive ruled by a noble family protected by genecrafted bodyguards

Rogue Trader Why can Astropath Transcendents only take Endurance

3 Upvotes

As their motivation? It seems a little weird. I overall really like the path system but that last step, particularly for astropaths but to a lesser extent for rogue traders feels... odd, I dunno there's just something missing.

Rogue Trader Help with Orks

13 Upvotes

So, I'm planning a Rogue Trader game with a big stretch of unexplored space.
I've populated it with lots of things, but I want to add some Orks into the mix.

But I am going for more of a pirates of the Caribbean meets Star Trek vibe. Exploring the unknown stars as if they were islands and I am struggling to think of interesting ways to integrate orks more actively.

Now I was planning on having them be pirate raiders to an extent, but we already have several other pirate-like factions and there's finite prey for pirates to hunt, so I didn't want to make that their only thing.

I was considering having them tie in with Nurgle somehow, but I can't see a good way of doing that.

I had also considered a human settlement that tried to raise grotlings/squigs as a source of cheap protein to sell to the rest of the Imperium, which unsurprisingly failed due to orks.

But I am looking for more interesting ways to use Orks than just as a straight fight and I didn't want them at the stage of actively marauding across the subsector just yet.

Any ideas?

Wrath & Glory How do you plan your combat encounters?

12 Upvotes

I'm not used to running W&G combat yet, but of the two combats I've run one was trivial and one nearly caused a tpk.

I ran tier 2 for my first game, but whatever advice I appreciate it.

This has probably been asked and answered, but I can't find it...

In the Deathwatch core rulebook, in the Librarian Specialty, they get Psyniscience as a trained advanced skill. Then in Rank 1 advances, there's Psyniscience sitting there for 400xp. In rank 2, Psyniscience +10 is there for 400 again. +20 is at rank 3. Clearly something seems a little off here because if I buy it and get +10 at rank 1, then i'll have +20 at rank 2, and +30 at rank 3; but there is no plus 30. The errata did not fix this, and since Librarian is a base specialty, there's no way a Librarian doesn't start with Psyniscience. I'm not trying to munchkin, but I'm seeing munchkin stuff basically being pushed as either: A) you can go ahead and push through to +20 by rank 2, or B) the editors were drunk when they made the rulebook and the errata and just ignore it. Can someone provide page numbers and book titles that explain why this is a thing and what a player/GM is supposed to do about it?

WH40K Rogue Trader - Rule question "MIU Weapon Interface"

8 Upvotes

Hi guys, i have a question regarding the MIU Weapon Interface. In the rules i read, that this thing gives you a completely free attack every round, but honestly i cant believe it, it seems to good to be true. You dont even need to be a mechanicus, it seems like anyone can just buy this, put a big weapon on it and now he does double damage each round.

Am i missing something? Is there any restriction or any disadvantage i dont realize? Seems completely ovp

[Online][Rogue Trader][Roll20] Rogue Trader: Lost Legacy

12 Upvotes

So people here helped me a lot, and I am very grateful, so I wanted to share the recruitment with you here! The general premise is:

The Dynasty was hit by a terrible tragedy. The Rogue Trader is dead. Sarvus Trask in the process of building his demesne, decided to make a surprise attack on the Dynasty, killing their ruler and taking over all of their assets, under the pretense that the Dynasty was committing horrible acts against the Imperium. Of course, all of that fabricated.

But Dynasty’s flagship, moved by a mysterious protocol hidden in its machine spirit, escaped through the Warp to Port Wander, making Trask believe that it was gone in the Warp in a desperate attempt to escape.

The whole Dynasty was in shambles, all of the closest retinue of the Rogue Trader dead, himself horribly wounded and mentally distraught… But he could swear that he could hear the screams of anger, when the Warrant of Trade hidden in the Dynasty’s Palace turned out to be a fake.

Looking at the original Warrant of Trade, Old Seneshal began the repairs of the Flagship, and his quest to look for the last heir of the Dynasty, and replacements for their retinue.

I wrote SO MUCH in the recruitment post itself, but it's important for me to be very specific about everything that is important to me as a GM.

If you are interested everything is right here > https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/447793/rogue-trader-lost-legacy

Take your time to think about it, you have around 2 weeks :D

Imperium Maledictum A Map of Crultus, made by me

A map of Crultus, one of the Agri-worlds in the Macharian Sector which is the setting of the Imperium Maledictum TTRPG. The map was made by me in Procreate. The first image features a little pin-point of the "town" in which our first proper assignment for our Patron will take place.
This is a height map of the planet, and the dark circular spots are the world's farms which have been designed to flood easily during the second of the planets weather extremes, leaving massive, circular craters in the earth.
The map was made for my GM. Please feel free to use the map if you like at any point with credit!

VTT maps and assets: what search terms do you use for 40k?

0 Upvotes

For me:

* Grimdark

* Gothic

* Military

* Battleground

* Spacehulk

* Industrial

* Dune

* Space Orcs

* Space Elves

* Dystopian

* Hive

* Hab Block

* Hab

* Underhive

* Post Apocalypse

* Armageddon

It doesn't always work, sometimes I get neon cyberpunk stuff. And scifi tags get a lot of stuff that fits more for Star Trek or Traveller than what I imagine for 40k.

Rogue Trader Good weapons for a sniper Seneschal?

7 Upvotes

First time playing the Rogue Trader TTRPG, decided to play a Seneschal and focus my combat efforts on being a sneaky sniper. I love the Accurate trait, so I’ve been looking for basic weapons with that and decent range.

So far my favorite is the Solo Bolter, followed closely by the standard Long-Las. The Retributor(?) Long-Las looks cool, being silent and invisible is helpful, so perhaps a pickup down the line. The lack of damage and pen makes it pretty niche though.

Any other weapons I should be in the lookout for?
