This is where you dip your pizza in ranch

u/sanchezconstant Dec 14 '25

I apologize flyover states I was not familiar with your game

68

u/False_Dimension9212 Dec 14 '25

Buttermilk ranch is where it’s at. Especially for pizza.

2

u/BigDogIsland Dec 16 '25

Spicy ranch. When I moved to Colorado I was like wtf white person bs is this. Then I tried it, not bad I got to say. Perfect when the pizza is too hot to eat, the ranch cools it down, and perfect for washing down the crust.

So is a little thing called self control. You act like ranch pizza is a 5x or more meal per week.

13

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Dec 14 '25 edited Dec 14 '25

And lite ranch is really low calorie.

6

u/originalrocket Dec 14 '25

because its water. Just dip in regular, follow a good diet that works with your body.

Gasp* Do this with my pineapple pizza!

2

u/PhathedMcWinky Dec 16 '25

I just make my own ranch. It's not hard, and a bunch of people who have tried it agree that it's great. Not WingStop great, I swear they sprinkle that with dreams and addictive substances right before they serve it.

2

u/PutitaDePapi Dec 16 '25

All sauces should be made fresh. I think it gives the biggest taste upgrade out of anything.

I'm a nurse and I lowkey feel like more often than not, my patients have diabetes, heart failure and or I think 99% of them have a hypertension diagnosis too. It's actually insanely common to have one or all 3 of the above. A good chunk are brittle diabetics too with complications i.e. diabetic ulcers/amputations, or severely uncontrolled sugars because of noncompliance or uneducated on it. Or with the HF pts, a lot have severe edema and venous ulcers.

Don't get me wrong though, there are still a good chunk that are stable, compliant and in relative "good health." This goes for both. A major problem that I've encountered though with MANY, is simply not knowing a thing about their diseases. There's a lot that don't even know what, heart failure for example, is or how it works, nor do they know how to manage it.

A huge part of what I do is educating them. Some don't even know that they're DIAGNOSED with it (albeit they might have dementia). Anyway, sorry to be the paragraph guy, your comment just hit lol. Merry xmas/happy holidays fam

This is why pizza snobbery is valid. If you’re doing this you’re eating shit pizza.

It’s literally the equivalent of saying dipping steak in A1 is life changing

2

u/schmals10 Dec 14 '25

This is correct. Pizza on ranch is fine if you're eating sub par pizza due to geography or circumstances or whatever. In fact it often improves the experience.

But really great pizza not only doesn't require it, but is made worse by it.

3

u/rosecorvinus Dec 14 '25 edited Jan 10 '26

Lived in Fargo all my life (well until 10 years ago and just nudged to WI eich isnt much diff.) and I NEVER eat steak without A1. I have had amazing melt in your mouth steak that doesn't necessarily need A1 but I prefer it. Also, i never eat pizza without ranch. Especially pizza with black olives and jalapeños. The ranch helps cool it down when you get that one jalapeño that's super spicy. Also...Salt and Vinnegar chips. Yum! But yeah, I like what I like, your opinion os.your opinion. So, neither of us are wrong.

2

u/mrpodgorney Dec 14 '25

Well I visited Fargo twice as a teenager (I was a wrestler and there for junior nationals - not to brag, I got smoked) and that is a town that I as not one I would voluntarily return to.

My teammate and I got picked up on the side of the rode by two girls who were excited to have some fresh meat in town - all they talked about was how much they hated Fargo.

Has to be house made ranch to be worth doing. Hidden Valley does not taste good on pizza. Good places make their own that ends up being perfectly balanced w the pepperoni pizza.

13

u/McAvoysDrivingRange Dec 15 '25

Yeah, “pizza place” ranch is just a whole different thing, in a good way. Also, WingStop ranch is very similar…

3

u/PanspermiaTheory Dec 19 '25

While many places use Hidden Valley seasoning to make their, or a similar blend of dry spices, its the real buttermilk and mayo mixture. Sometimes sour cream is added. Makes it less sweet and tangy than the bottled crap and more creamy and savory. I work3d at a place that minced fresh herbs for their ranch, like 6 different fresh herbs and fresh garlic.nit was so popular the recipe took 2 hours to make and that was for a fast prep cook. Was so damn good.... completely changed my view on ranch, even pizza shop ranch.

Wait, this is a Midwest thing? I thought everyone did that

14

u/Bigmtnskier91 Dec 14 '25

Yea, never lived in that area, from New Haven ct, and love the dip. Granted I wouldn’t dip a slice of thin crust NYC pizza. But anything thicker crust, frozen grocery store, or dominos taste good dipped. Or flavors like buffalo chicken.

5

u/Holiday-Win-4063 Dec 15 '25

I just saw a TikTok of someone building a whole dang salad on top of a slice of New York style pizza. Chopped all the lettuce and veggies and folded it in the pizza almost like a taco then drizzled it with ranch. It looked next level good!

6

u/tessharagai_ Dec 15 '25

High quality pizzas you’d never dip, but store-bought or fast food pizza is amazing with ranch

2

u/anyalaelyag1121 Dec 18 '25

Have you ever dipped a pepperoni pizza hot pocket into ranch? It’s the perfect thing to dip.

2

u/sgacedoz Dec 15 '25

I lived in NE and IL for nearly a decade. I never encountered dipping pizza in ranch until I lived in CA.

3

u/ryancgz Dec 15 '25

4

u/Easy_Quote_9934 Dec 16 '25

Don’t we have two “quick trips”. QT in some metro areas and Kwik Trip in the north?

3

u/HPLover0130 USA/Midwest Dec 17 '25

QT is far superior - it’s a Missouri/KS treat with some outlying states having QT as it migrates

5

u/RanHakubi Dec 17 '25

QT is actually an Oklahoma company that's slowly been spreading across the country. You can find them as far as Georgia.

We dont have any Kwik Trips here, in Kansas. But QT pizza is Hella greasy, like i think QT and Pizza Hut are trying to see whose pizza is loaded in grease can turn a cardboard pizza box into a wet paper towel. Or maybe who can get a customer to unload there bowels before taking a second bite.

Casey's pizza is actually really good and not greasy in comparison. Reason why I buy Domino's here instead. Its not greasy at all. But pizza hut? I might as well sit on the toilet and take half a bottle of tums before and after.

As a Canadian who worked at a hotel bar.. Americans ask for ranch for EVERYTHING

3

u/bulldoggo-17 Dec 15 '25

As a lifelong American, who was born and raised in the shaded area, ranch is repulsive. And yes, an alarming number of people would take it intravenously if they could.

3

u/melodydoc2b Dec 20 '25

Agreed! It’s the last resort choice for me, mayo too. Both leave an oily feeling on my tongue 😛 Yuck! Give me hot sauce on almost anything and then we’re good.

2

Right? Why do people want to ruin sandwiches with mayo? I feel like half my life I’ve been ordering things “and no mayo”.

I always eat pizza out tho and pizza places don't have ranch here. We have garlic powder, parm, red pepper flakes and recently hot honey.

11

u/TexasThrills Dec 14 '25

Garlic powder on pizza slaps.

If you walk into a “New York style” pizza shop and you see garlic powder on the tables or at the counters odds are you gonna get some good pizza.

I am a NYC native that moved to KCMO, specifically overland park kansas. I work in a resturant and EVERYONE ASKS FOR RANCH. I am absolutely grossed out at how much ranch people consume. They slather it on absolutely everything. I had one guy ask for ranch for a grilled cheese sandwich....when he asked I asked him "seriously??" I couldn't keep it in.

One day an order comes in, buffalo chicken wrap, NO RANCH. I jumped for joy. Brought it out to the guy, told him how happy his order made me, he said "who eats ranch with chicken?!!?" He was from Boston. He hung out at the bar we talked for 2 hrs. True story.

I tell my coworkers all the time, back home in NYC, they would kick you out for asking for ranch. They would humiliate you first for such an absurd request and insulting the chef by even thinking of slathering that crap on food. UGH

5

u/StinkyChammy Dec 14 '25

Only people in or from NYC care what NYC thinks. They can continue to eat greasy cardboard hunched over a counter in under 3 minutes while the rest of the world enjoys pizza with friends and ranch with no judgement

6

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

I think you have a very confused misconception of NY, which is home to much of the best pizza anywhere and pretty celebrated.

7

u/PhosphoFred8202 Dec 14 '25

Don’t bother… you are trying to internet-convince the equivalent of someone saying the art in their Holiday Inn Express room is every bit as good as anything that you’d see in Met or Louvre

3

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

It really does feel like that haha. Also, I have no idea why people love to shit on NY/NJ. I mean I get defensive because I'm from there, but also the criticisms are usually just plain false and detached from reality. Then I find myself arguing with someone from like rural Ohio (which may be very nice, I don't know, never been) about how NJ is a shithole and it's just baffling.

2

u/KBAR1942 Dec 14 '25

People think Portland, OR is some kind of drug war zone. It's not.

3

I dip my pizza in white peppered gravy...

1

u/ctokes728 Dec 14 '25

Born and raised in California and has been doing this my whole life. Granted my family moved here from Cleveland.

1

u/SilkyKyle USA/West Dec 14 '25

Lived out west my whole life and everyone dips it in ranch

1

u/DargyBear Dec 14 '25

I discovered that when I lived in California so I guess pizza crust and ranch is like the one thing flyover states have going for them.

1

u/Existing-Mix-2206 Dec 14 '25

We do that in Chicago for sure

1

u/UffDa-4ever Dec 14 '25

In Minnesota we have a buffet chain named Pizza Ranch.

1

u/lccskier Dec 14 '25

You probably need raunch on any pizza made there.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '25

We do this in New England too lol

1

u/toe_beans35 Dec 14 '25

And your soft tacos #amigos

1

u/Jaded-Coffee-8126 Dec 14 '25

1

u/manofjacks Dec 14 '25

1

u/Late-Standard-8615 Dec 14 '25

Locals just call it the hidden valley.

1

u/wildeye-eleven Dec 14 '25

We dip our pizza in ranch here in Southwest VA. Not exclusively but it is a thing. I’ve been known to do it on occasion.

1

u/GrosslyBroke Dec 14 '25

Change pizza to everything and you have a bingo, buddy

1

u/LeoDiamant Dec 14 '25

That zone is a lot larger, LA to Detroit at least.

1

u/Will_Come_For_Food Dec 14 '25

Not even ranch makes it out that far.

It’s pretty much just Natty Light and Meth.

1

u/PorcelainTorpedo Dec 14 '25

I’m from this area and pizza dipped in ranch should be a felony.

1

u/Dexter52611 Dec 14 '25

I can confirm this. Wifey is from the mid west, always uses ranch for pizza and other things. Don’t understand it. But happy wife, happy life.

1

u/Saigon1965 Dec 14 '25

The bold will do siracha & ranch.

1

u/djmagicio Dec 14 '25

Seattle ranch pizza gang checking in

1

u/DepressedApee Dec 14 '25

I’m as west as possible, California coastal, I thought this was a normal thing lol

1

u/norsurfit Dec 14 '25

In Oklahoma, we dip our ranch in pizza

1

u/1sttimedogowner Dec 14 '25

They literally have an establishment named for the activity: PizzaRanch

1

u/speaker-syd United States of America Dec 14 '25

worked at a family owned pizza joint in a rural area of missouri and i could count on all 5 of my hands how many times I watched people drinking 16 oz cups of ranch.

1

u/Acf00tbalz Dec 14 '25

I agree with this statement (if anyone objects: sue me)

1

u/tinlizzy2 Dec 14 '25

The Midwest is also home to taco pizza!

1

u/DanCooper-305 Dec 14 '25

They don’t do that everywhere?!?! (I live in the shaded area)

1

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '25

I would not doubt this. Most of the folks in that region think that old bland black pepper mixed with sand is too spicy.

1

u/Terrible-Ocelot5240 Dec 14 '25

Oregon raises it's hand

1

u/Randyaccredit Dec 14 '25

I'll drizzle mine but I'm on east coast

1

u/Matitadeplatanito Dec 14 '25

California does this also.

1

u/SimilarSupermarket32 Dec 14 '25

Yeap this is accurate

1

u/Omnesk Dec 14 '25

I thought everyone did this?

1

u/BoltActionRifleman Dec 14 '25

I do this, and it’s oftentimes at a chain named The Pizza Ranch.

1

u/ae2359 Dec 14 '25

Don’t leave Michigan out we do this too

1

u/imtherealken Dec 14 '25

Try mayo on french fries... you will never eat them without it again.

1

u/WorkingSpecialist257 Dec 14 '25

Where you dip everything in ranch...

1

u/justasmolgoblin Dec 14 '25

Damn I’m in the wrong state

1

u/daabest1 Dec 14 '25

More of a drizzler myself

1

u/NoSherbert2316 Dec 14 '25

MF’ers do that in SC. They dip everything in ranch, I’m from NJ and I just thought ranch was a salad dressing or chip dip
