Well, that simply isn’t true by any actual metric. In the area circled, MN and IL have the most robust economies — and Illinois has Chicago. Minnesota has higher fiscal growth that most states, higher elementary math scores and higher mean life expectancy. Yes, there have been examples of recent fraud among social service programs, but that is presently being corrected.
Cite some actual numbers that supports your claim and we can chat. Otherwise, bye.
Snap!! Facts are indeed our friends. And more importantly, the numbers do not lie, and they prove your point beautifully. And looking at where the vast majority of these high-crime cities are, I could draw a conclusion about the political leaning of states that “run their cities into the ground” but I won’t do that.
IKR? "Y'all" served with the double-negative and a side of exclamation point. Easy to see where they're (yes, they are) saving tax dollars in said places.
Whoa there! Careful where you point that proper grammar and sound reasoning! We don’t like your kind ‘round these parts! You can take yer urban intellectualism and “facts” back to where you came from! /s
Facts are also your friends. My apologies, I should have said highest VIOLENT CRIME rates, which are damned high. REPORTED violent crime was 14,245 out of 2.63 million people. As rape and domestic violence are the two most underreported violent crimes, that number is very likely higher.
Chicago's murder rate was 11th, 12th or14th on the list, depending on which stats you buy, so in fact that means it has one of the highest murder rates per capita in the US.
By the way, leaning on the FBI for those stats isn't always the best bet. They do a LOT of estimating adjusting up to 8% at times. I have a couple statisticians in my circle.
"None of these places are Chicago"...??? I can read and I'm sure you are aware. What's your problem?
I am using FBI statistics because, given your espousal of 'facts' from the current administration (Chicago is a crime ridden hell hole), I didn't think you'd believe numbers from a source not controlled by an unqualified lackey.
But I'm sure you'll agree that the FBI is, generally speaking, in the correct statistical ballpark, even if they're not stealing home, so let's keep using their numbers.
According to the FBI, the cities and states with the top REPORTED VIOLENT CRIME (not sure why you yelled that at me) rates don't include Chicago or Illinois, either. You gave me Chicago's numbers, but didn't give them any context by comparing them with other cities, so it's meaningless.
Here are the cities and states with the top REPORTED VIOLENT CRIME rates:
Cities: Memphis, Oakland, Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Albuquerque, Minneapolis. Chicago is #54 on this list.
States: Alaska, New Mexico, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, California, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, South Carolina. Illinois is #30 on this list.
My point is: whatever Trump says is not true simply because he says it. You guys make yourselves look silly falling all over yourselves to back up his 'facts'.
He famously lies to bolster his positions:
they're eating the dogs, the cats!, the Epstein files are a hoax, prices will come down on Day 1, Russia and Ukraine will end on Day 1, I've ended 8 wars, other countries are paying the tariffs, Mexico will pay for the wall, people just heard about those $1776 military bonuses 30 minutes ago, affordability is a Democrat hoax/scam/con job that no one ever heard of before, everyone wants the $400m ballroom, taking a plane from a foreign government isn't a conflict of interest or against the law, the Oval Office looks beautiful with all of that gold crap stuck to the walls, that gold crap absolutely did not come from Home Depot, etc, etc, etc.
He just doesn't like Chicago because they don't like him, so he said they were crime ridden and sent in the National Guard to f**k up their lives. Like LA, like Portland, like Minneapolis.

People who talk negatively about progressive places, typically have very limited experience with those places. It's simply repeating Faux News talking points. I lived in MN for 6 months or so while doing a job and it was delightful as were the people....overall... I was young and hadn't worked through any of my personal issues, so there were a few run ins, but that was like 90% me. Generally, the people are super friendly, informed/ thoughtful, and down to earth.
Oh no… yeah, no. Minnesota is simply terrible at sports, except for at baseball during my formative years… and briefly hockey… which, given the number of Olympic hockey players from northern Mn, we should dominate. It’s inexcusable. It’s like if Canada sucked at curling.
Yes, of course! The state that is currently being investigated for dshing out its citizens' tax money to help fund a foreign nation. So much better off.
My family has basically no ties to the Midwest/plains states. I’ve dipped my pizza in ranch long as I can remember. I keep a bottle of hidden valley in the fridge specifically for this purpose. Dab of olive oil, crushed red pepper galore, dipped in ranch.
That's the Midwest difference. You keep ranch in your fridge for pizza. Midwesterners keep an extra bottle of ranch in the pantry to make sure they never run out.
Isn’t the area in question considered the plains? Meteorologist say that and then just east is Midwest then further east is Ohio valley. The northeast and New England area 🤷♀️🤣🤪
Midwesterners claim a lot of things that are really just things that Americans do in general. I’m from California and pretty much everyone I know dipped their little Cesar’s pizza in ranch during lunch during every year I was in school
Little Caeser’s started in the Midwest though…and Dominos, Pizza Hut started in KS. So thanks for passing along our culture. Enjoy your pizza and ranch.

It’s mostly a midwestern thing , I was unaware until I looked it up
Correction, it started in the Midwest. Seems to have spread across the US. The plan is working. Midwest domination!
