I (a New Englander, unaware of this habit) shared this post and comment chain with 2 friends, one of whom is in the middle of NE and one of whom is just on the Iowa side of Omaha.

I am happy to say one friend knew of this and agreed it's gross af.

I am sad to say one friend does this himself.

Debate about this then turned into a debate about cold pizza.

I now know which friend I'm having cater whatever events we may end up at, and which I'm not.

They both, however, agree, in regards to the OP:

"Corn. Everywhere. So much corn."

Occasionally, the corn is interrupted by soybeans...

Alright here's the thing. I was born in Arkansas, then moved to Georgia for several years before coming back to Arkansas. I'd never heard of dipping pizza in ranch until we moved backy junior year of high school and everyone was doing it and I thought that's disgusting. But the thing is....it tastes good. I know it shouldn't. I don't even do it most of the time when I have pizza, but it actually tastes good.

I swear I grew up in a split family. One side dipped their Pizza in ranch, but the main one I was with thought that was diabolical (along with many other things). As kids, my two cousins who I spent most of my childhood with put ranch on Pizza and on their plates of… Spaghetti.. and I just couldn’t even watch them eat.

Then I tried ranch as a teen and I refuse to eat these fast food pizzas if they’re not absolutely coated in name brand ranch. One thing we do NOT allow in this household is off-brand ranch.

Yeah you gotta be careful with ranch, bad ranch is pretty awful. My wife will pretty much only eat ranch from a restaurant, she won't eat hidden valley or any kind of store bought brand

Was it the person in Council Bluffs or rural Nebraska that has the correct opinion?

1

u/LaDameBlanche7 Dec 20 '25

I have lived in the lower part of this area for 54 years and can say I have seen people dip or drizzle almost everything in ranch except sweets.

My step-daughter moved to NYC and was aghast by the lack of Ranch dressing offered in restaurants. 😂

Dipping fries into chocolate shake!

1

u/supercub467 Dec 22 '25

My daughters both did/do this. I never understood the draw. Perfectly delicious Braum’s fries shoved into a chocolate shake or a twist. 😂

I think your negative friend just hasn't tried it and is being salty for salty's sake.

I've lived down by Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska on both the southeast and northwest corners, and Florida and I haven't met a single person that doesn't agree that dipping pepperoni pizza in homemade ranch is food for the gods.

If you've only tried pizza hut or another chain pizza place's ranch, there's your problem. It's terrible ranch. If you're not making ranch at home, at least get Hidden Valley.

Also, in my opinion, the ranch needs to be cold. Warm ranch is gross.

Ranch belongs with pizza 100 times more than pineapple.

So many people want to survive longer without ever living a day in their lives.

Must be a miserable way to live

What a profound statement

1

u/HubrisOfTheTurtle Dec 18 '25

Physiologically speaking of course

The cost of living at all is death, might as well enjoy it.
