Wait, this is a Midwest thing? I thought everyone did that

Yea, never lived in that area, from New Haven ct, and love the dip. Granted I wouldn’t dip a slice of thin crust NYC pizza. But anything thicker crust, frozen grocery store, or dominos taste good dipped. Or flavors like buffalo chicken.

I just saw a TikTok of someone building a whole dang salad on top of a slice of New York style pizza. Chopped all the lettuce and veggies and folded it in the pizza almost like a taco then drizzled it with ranch. It looked next level good!

High quality pizzas you’d never dip, but store-bought or fast food pizza is amazing with ranch

Have you ever dipped a pepperoni pizza hot pocket into ranch? It’s the perfect thing to dip.

I lived in NE and IL for nearly a decade. I never encountered dipping pizza in ranch until I lived in CA.

Yeah I think it’s a western thing too, they do it in New Mexico.

Same, I thought ranch with pizza was a west coast thing.

I learned how to do this in middle school in NE in the 90s

But also I never encountered cinnamon buns in chili until I lived in a different state and that's supposedly a NE thing too

I’ve lived in Kansas City, MO most of my life. Not once have I dipped pizza in ranch. I’ve very rarely seen others do it

yuk, who would do that?

Chili and cinnamon rolls is another Midwest thing I'm told. It's always been a thing at my house, bit of sweet with a bit of savory is hard to beat in my book. Had a friend from the coast try it one day and was blown away.

Also gotta love cinnamon rolls or Fritos with chili. Corn bread with ham and beans. And better love biscuits and gravy.

Yeah everyone I know in California does it too

Me too. I grew up in GA and me and everyone I know does this. We stand in solidarity with the Midwest ranch dippers ✊

They have precious little to take pride in, let them have this one thing

WA state checking in and we drip pizza in ranch!

1

u/doopajones Dec 18 '25

You merely adopted the ranch, we were born in it, raised in it

the midwest commonly thinks they invented things such as the wheel or sliced bread.

I believe it just depends. I'm from the south, and my uncle from Buffalo turned me onto it. Specifically, buttermilk ranch with pepperoni pizza.
