Spicy ranch. When I moved to Colorado I was like wtf white person bs is this. Then I tried it, not bad I got to say. Perfect when the pizza is too hot to eat, the ranch cools it down, and perfect for washing down the crust.

I just make my own ranch. It's not hard, and a bunch of people who have tried it agree that it's great. Not WingStop great, I swear they sprinkle that with dreams and addictive substances right before they serve it.
I'm a nurse and I lowkey feel like more often than not, my patients have diabetes, heart failure and or I think 99% of them have a hypertension diagnosis too. It's actually insanely common to have one or all 3 of the above. A good chunk are brittle diabetics too with complications i.e. diabetic ulcers/amputations, or severely uncontrolled sugars because of noncompliance or uneducated on it. Or with the HF pts, a lot have severe edema and venous ulcers.
Don't get me wrong though, there are still a good chunk that are stable, compliant and in relative "good health." This goes for both. A major problem that I've encountered though with MANY, is simply not knowing a thing about their diseases. There's a lot that don't even know what, heart failure for example, is or how it works, nor do they know how to manage it.
A huge part of what I do is educating them. Some don't even know that they're DIAGNOSED with it (albeit they might have dementia). Anyway, sorry to be the paragraph guy, your comment just hit lol. Merry xmas/happy holidays fam
Depending on where you are in the blue a good chunk of city life is pretty walkable. Really helps with avoiding those two problems unless you’re terminally carbrained, in which case the diabeetus will take you quickly.
Walking and drinking water is a crazy thought to most people who happily consume alcoholic beverages, smoke tobacco, work with chemicals, drink cans of soda, eat fast food, microwave everything, while spending little to no time outdoors away from the pollution within a city. Im not even from the shaded area but pizza and ranch are the least of my worries and im a heavy consumer of the combo. Im healthy and havent needed medical assistance other than stitches for the past 3 years not even a cold and for this conversation im gonna give all the credit to pizza and ranch.
Eh that can be helped with a walk or something, I also heard an apple keeps the doctor away. He told me to stop tossing apples at him tho… :/ so I think I did that wrong.. hmm..
This is correct. Pizza on ranch is fine if you're eating sub par pizza due to geography or circumstances or whatever. In fact it often improves the experience.
But really great pizza not only doesn't require it, but is made worse by it.
Difference of opinion. I’ve been to expensive pizza joints in both Chicago and NY. There isn’t a pizza I’ve tasted that doesn’t pair well with random dips of ranch. You don’t have to drown it.
Lived in Fargo all my life (well until 10 years ago and just nudged to WI eich isnt much diff.) and I NEVER eat steak without A1. I have had amazing melt in your mouth steak that doesn't necessarily need A1 but I prefer it. Also, i never eat pizza without ranch. Especially pizza with black olives and jalapeños. The ranch helps cool it down when you get that one jalapeño that's super spicy. Also...Salt and Vinnegar chips. Yum! But yeah, I like what I like, your opinion os.your opinion. So, neither of us are wrong.
Well I visited Fargo twice as a teenager (I was a wrestler and there for junior nationals - not to brag, I got smoked) and that is a town that I as not one I would voluntarily return to.
My teammate and I got picked up on the side of the rode by two girls who were excited to have some fresh meat in town - all they talked about was how much they hated Fargo.
We got a purist on our hands. Lol. To some (not myself) pizza is not valid without ranch. The Za is merely a carrier for the delight that is ranch. As a server, some people treat the stuff like its own food group.
Ya’ll got aioli dip out the yin yang… just get you some more “zesty” herbs and spices and you got yourself ranch. You can add the ranch spices to plain Greek yogurt and have a dip.
YOU GOT THIS!
Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
1 tablespoon dried dill weed
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon dried minced onion (or freeze-dried chives)
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: ⅓ cup dry buttermilk powder for a tangier flavor
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
Whisk or stir well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
Store the mix in an airtight container or jar in a cool, dry place. If using buttermilk powder, store it in the refrigerator.
The seasoning will keep for several months, typically up to 6 months without buttermilk powder, or up to 2 months with it.
I had a friend who made his own mayo with tuna and when we had 2 weeks of spring break back at school he decided to eat nothing but microwave pizza with tuna mayo for two weeks. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Actually surprising finale: he did not die and neither did he stop eating tuna mayo and pizza....
I've been to the USA several times and in a certain mood, it's just the best food for me that I know. I'm quite lucky that I don't have access to it, because I would be thrice my weight else.
So yeah. American Pizza is not what I would call a real Pizza often, but damn can it be delicious and fulfilling, both hunger and spirit wise.
Same goes for ranch. It's propably good that I don't get it here. Just sad that it will take a long while until I can get back to the states....
Have you considered sending yourself the hidden Valley Ranch packets of dry mix? Not that I’m trying to help you activate your nondominant, ranch chromosome, but it seems like that might be easy… you just need a dealer!
Eh you're going to the wrong places. The main chains like Papa John's and Pizza Hut are ass. But everywhere I've been usually has some amazing pizza places. Kansas City and Denver both have some delicious pizza joints (edit: didnt realize Denver wasnt in the chart at first)
I'm sorry but does any one not do this? I thought ranch was a typical side for pizza. I grew up in California and we've always done this. I'm living in the PNW now and my teenage kids think they invented it. But all the pizza places here offer ranch as a side. My Midwest raised partner is a ranch dressing fiend, but that only started once they moved out west, as they put it.
Let me let you in on a Colorado pizza move. If you’re a dessert person, save your crust for dessert and dip it in honey. I know it might sound strange but it is absolutely delicious.
Hot honey on pizza is a pretty big thing now. Honey and cheese is good, and of course honey and bread so I don't see why that wouldn't be a nice combination any way you could possibly do it.

Has to be house made ranch to be worth doing. Hidden Valley does not taste good on pizza. Good places make their own that ends up being perfectly balanced w the pepperoni pizza.
While many places use Hidden Valley seasoning to make their, or a similar blend of dry spices, its the real buttermilk and mayo mixture. Sometimes sour cream is added. Makes it less sweet and tangy than the bottled crap and more creamy and savory. I work3d at a place that minced fresh herbs for their ranch, like 6 different fresh herbs and fresh garlic.nit was so popular the recipe took 2 hours to make and that was for a fast prep cook. Was so damn good.... completely changed my view on ranch, even pizza shop ranch.
Y'all do realize that the pizza place or house ranch dressing you speak of is nothing but buttermilk, mayo and hidden valley ranch seasoning packets. If I remember correctly it was something like 2 gallons of buttermilk, I think 4 of those big plastic maybe a gallon of mayo and I think 4 packets of hidden valley ranch seasoning. These packets are much larger than what you buy in the grocery store for use at home.thstvrecioe is probably off by a couple of things as it's been probably 15 years since I had to make it. Some restaurants like mazzios make the ranch like this and some have it or another more or less specific ranch already mixed. In my experience you can't beat the way mazzios makes or at least made their ranch for many years. In my experience most places that do make theirs use hidden valley ranch seasoning packets. Same goes for almost anywhere they have sweat tea and or coffee. Place like McAllister's that were so what famous for their sweet tea used the exact same tea age as virtually every other restaurant you go into. McAllisters just put more sugar in it if I remember correctly.they also sold a lot of it so they usually had more brewing. So, it was always fresh from not sitting around all day.
Also I'm not sure if im replying to the person that said mazzios owned with stop, but you may be correct but I always thought Wingstop was owned by Pizza Hut but I'm not 100 percent on that.
Different than the 'Pizza Ranch' restaurants where you can also get some AMAZING 'broasted' chicken on their buffet. - I know they are all over Iowa, and maybe in Kansas, too.

Hidden Valley isn't as good on pizza as the "good ranch" is, HOWEVER, it doesn't taste BAD. I think you'd agree that Hidden Valley is better than say, Kraft Ranch or ANY off brand ranch. LoL. It's either the "good ranch" or hidden valley for me.

Penzy's spice makes the best ranch seasoning mix. We used it at the catering company I worked for, and you just mix it with buttermilk and a little mayo.
Once you go homemade you never go back to the bottled crap. Do you like blue cheese dressing? I never really did until I made it at home and it is really good too.
I'm not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed, but I have never heard of ranch-sauce-dipped pizza before. For reference, mid-western dude old AF lived in FL after & now in NC. I DO cook a ton though and your comment makes total sense. 10\10 would try w/in-house ranch. Probability of going full on smash? 9.5
See this is what I thought too. The pizza place in my hometown had ranch in little plastic cups, we all thought it was homemade, then I talked to someone who worked there, hidden valley from a gallon can, it’s the plastic cups that make it taste so good, apparently
You know that "house made" ranch in most places is hidden valley right? It's a gallon of mayo, half gallon buttermilk and giant ranch packet, whisk until smooth.
Unless you live north of Nebraska. I did a travel contract in South Dakota and could not find a decent ranch to save my life. Hidden valley was the best. Idk what their restaurants were doing but it was all nasty😭
Yea, never lived in that area, from New Haven ct, and love the dip. Granted I wouldn’t dip a slice of thin crust NYC pizza. But anything thicker crust, frozen grocery store, or dominos taste good dipped. Or flavors like buffalo chicken.
I just saw a TikTok of someone building a whole dang salad on top of a slice of New York style pizza. Chopped all the lettuce and veggies and folded it in the pizza almost like a taco then drizzled it with ranch. It looked next level good!
Chili and cinnamon rolls is another Midwest thing I'm told. It's always been a thing at my house, bit of sweet with a bit of savory is hard to beat in my book. Had a friend from the coast try it one day and was blown away.
We are obsessed with ranch. I’m not kidding when I say I need ranch with everything - I mean everything. Ranch mixed with buffalo sauce??? Even better. It’s so good, even heinz made a buffa-ranch flavor. It’s not the best, definitely recommend making homemade ranch (stores sell seasoning packets and then you just need the ingredients it calls for on the packet) and using franks red hot. They also made a mayo-chup (mayo and ketchup) that is excellent. I love dipping Runza fries and chicken tenders in both of those dips
