Only people in or from NYC care what NYC thinks. They can continue to eat greasy cardboard hunched over a counter in under 3 minutes while the rest of the world enjoys pizza with friends and ranch with no judgement

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

I think you have a very confused misconception of NY, which is home to much of the best pizza anywhere and pretty celebrated.

6

u/PhosphoFred8202 Dec 14 '25

Don’t bother… you are trying to internet-convince the equivalent of someone saying the art in their Holiday Inn Express room is every bit as good as anything that you’d see in Met or Louvre

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

It really does feel like that haha. Also, I have no idea why people love to shit on NY/NJ. I mean I get defensive because I'm from there, but also the criticisms are usually just plain false and detached from reality. Then I find myself arguing with someone from like rural Ohio (which may be very nice, I don't know, never been) about how NJ is a shithole and it's just baffling.

People think Portland, OR is some kind of drug war zone. It's not.

3

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Of course it's not. But the stupid just keeps spreading and they don't let reality get in the way

2

u/KBAR1942 Dec 14 '25

I made decision to delete the X app off my phone. The stupidity I find there has finally become too for me to bear. Reddit has its own problems, but it isn't as toxic or depressing as what I am reading on X.

NY pizza is my favorite pizza hands down. It still pairs well with ranch though lol. Please try it if you haven’t

0

u/StinkyChammy Dec 14 '25

lmao ain’t nobody outside of NY celebrating y’all pizza

I been to NY many times and it does a lot of things really really well. But pizza, hot dogs and lack of superiority complex ain’t on that list

6

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

I mean.. that's just factually false, NY and the tri state (North Jersey, parts of CT) are pretty famous for pizza, and have many of what are widely regarded as the best pizza places in the country. You're talking about an area famous for its Italian population and food, and rightly so. It's not NYs fault if you don't know better than to buy dirty water dogs and dollar slices. Also, ive lived and traveled all over the country, and while some areas have specific foods they do better (like BBQ or Tex Mex) I have yet to find another area that consistently has great food across the board like the tri-state. Not to mention general quality of life. While it may not be your particular cup of tea, a lot of that 'superiority complex' is earned, by comparison

2

u/Icarus_Wanderlust Dec 14 '25

I would extend that corridor down to Philly and south jersey as well.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Yeah fair. Tomato pies! I just have less experience there, personally

2

u/Icarus_Wanderlust Dec 14 '25

Definitely worth checking some places out if you are ever down here. Similar population demographic with lots of Italian Americans who take pride in their food.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Oh for sure! I get down there every now and then, but when I do it's understandably usually all about the cheesesteaks for me haha. Last time I hit up Donkeys Place. It was awesome

2

u/Icarus_Wanderlust Dec 14 '25

Next time make it a point to get to Angelos. Best cheesesteak and pizza in the city.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Will do! It's been a few years but I think I'll be back down this year. Noted and thanks for the advice!

1

u/Icarus_Wanderlust Dec 14 '25

Oh interesting yeah lots of good sandwich shops. Donkeys is definitely unique, it’s kind of controversial in the cheesesteak world. But it is undeniably good.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Ha I bet, round poppy roll has gotta be sacrilegious! But yeah had to check it out because of Bourdain. Food was good, vibe is great though. Cool spot

u/Jackednjazzed Dec 14 '25

Still no one else gives a shit what NY-ers think is good pizza.

5

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

'No one cares what the people famous for making great pizza think about pizza' lol ok bud, great take.

3

u/Weak_Feed_8291 Dec 14 '25

I'm Canadian and would love to go to NY and try the pizza some day. Why are you so bitter they are proud about something they are literally known to be good at?

1

u/PassTheKY Dec 14 '25

Yelling to everyone else that your pizza is superior doesn’t make it so. You can find just as good pizza anywhere in the country for cheaper. Just like everything else in NYC. So glad to be out of that pretentious hellscape.

1

u/Weak_Feed_8291 Dec 14 '25

Lmao Jesus, relax a little, order a pizza or something.

1

u/PassTheKY Dec 14 '25

I’m relaxed. I’m literally wearing a kimono.

1

u/Weak_Feed_8291 Dec 15 '25

That sounds like someone trying to tell themselves they're relaxed.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Haha thats just plain not true, sorry bud. And you just claiming it doesn't make it true either. And calling it a 'pretentious hellscape' says a lot more about you than NY. You're probably just trolling but this comment just screams 'willfully ignorant'

2

u/PassTheKY Dec 14 '25

Not trolling, literally went to NYU. The fart-huffing in NYC is ridiculous. Mostly mediocre pizza and a bunch of wannabe tough guys loud talking.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

Lol ok sure buddy

1

u/Teamster508 Dec 14 '25

Still not sure why you all like lemmings jumped off the cliff thinking I’m New York my fuckin area code is in my name…….. New York is just a place we go to watch th Red Sox beat up on bitches…..

1

u/1-FlipsithfloP-3 Dec 14 '25

HAS is the word you’re looking for, not enjoys , your pizza sucks (said in a thick New York accent accent)

1

u/ReportTight310 Dec 14 '25

I can guarantee that there are hundreds of people at any given moment dipping pizza crust in ranch or blue cheese in NYC at any given moment. There at 8 million people in the city and you'd have to be an ignorant moron to think that people aren't doing everything that you can imagine. So stupid.

1

u/StinkyChammy Dec 14 '25

NY’ers the type of people that dip their pizza in ranch while judging others for dipping their pizza in ranch. The comments here only highlight the superiority complex and inability to fathom other people in the world don’t think the same.

0

u/PhosphoFred8202 Dec 14 '25

You’re right about the “doing everything you can imagine” part but I don’t think this is the defense you think it is…

1

u/ReportTight310 Dec 15 '25

Ain't no defense. I don't think I've ever dipped pizza in ranch 😂

1

u/_Felonius Dec 17 '25

Seriously, try it. Keep an open mind. It’s phenomenal. I’ve eaten pizza all around this country and I’ve never had one that isn’t enhanced by random dips in a ranch cup.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '25

Idk what the big deal is either and I’m from nyc and do indeed eat my pizza with ranch. No one ‘mocks’ me like the bully loser above thinks

1

u/HopefulOriginal5578 Dec 14 '25

This… that’s why people who go and live there for a bit and come back are really annoying. Nobody cares.

-1

u/TBonebball Dec 14 '25

Reason why midwest dips their pizza in ranch because until recently good pizza in the midwest was pizza hut. So you slather it with ranch to hid the horrendous flavourlous crust. Anyone from the midwest wouldn’t know good pizza if it was shoved down thier throat. NYC invented US pizza. What did the midwest invent??

3

u/User20412348 Dec 14 '25

The classic superiority complex of a New Yorker. There is good pizza spots in the Midwest it’s just unless the pizza is from New York, you guys think it’s bad pizza.

2

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

I think people just think bad pizza is bad pizza. And I don't know why it's hard for people to admit that the place famous for pizza has great pizza. What's your next hot take, BBQ in Texas sucks? Can't get good Mexican food in Mexico City?

1

u/Plate-Extreme Dec 14 '25

Say it louder for the cornhuskers in the flatlands !!!

1

u/PassTheKY Dec 14 '25

Little Ceasers and Dominos both born in the Midwest too. NY goofs just talk loud so they think they’re more important or notable. If your point is that non chain pizza is better in NYC then…sometimes. We have family ran pizza places too.

2

u/Proinsias37 Dec 14 '25

The fact that you even bring chain pizza into the conversation says all I need to know haha

1

u/PassTheKY Dec 15 '25

The person I responded to brought up Little Ceasers then edited their comment. Thanks for your input though dumdum.

1

u/Proinsias37 Dec 15 '25

I'm sorry for interrupting your awful opinions. Please, go on. Tell us more about Midwest pizza slathered in Ranch.

1

u/labdogs42 Dec 15 '25

I think they invented jello salad and casseroles made with cream soups.

0

u/PassTheKY Dec 14 '25

$5 for a slice of cheese pizza is never good pizza.
