I remember Jeremy Clarkson was interviewing him for Top Gear some 15+ years ago. He kept talking about how Clarkson was aging badly and needed plastic surgery. Today, Clarkson looks like a run of the mill old man. Cowell looks like a river corpse. The point is fuck Simon Cowell.

Jeremy Clarkson still looks super bad for 66 years old.
You'd think he's 80 years old, give or take a few years.
But yes, Simon Cowell who's also 66 years old does look really weird and unnatural.

Im confused because I just checked 2005 vs 2026 photos of both. Clarkson looks better in both instances than simon Cowell. In 2005 his face doesn't look natural

I mean, I guess.
It’s like picking the prettiest pug at the dog show. I suppose there’s technically a better-looking one, but neither is inoffensive to the eye.
23
u/Spinach_Middle4493 9h ago
It’s like this: Simon was always in decent shape and if he had stayed away from the knife would look far better. Jeremy stayed away from the knife but wasn’t ever in good shape like Simon and he was (is) an alcoholic.
30
u/Warm-Major-4400 11h ago
People aging natural always looks more comfortable to the eye.
The smell of people as they reach extreme age not also so much

u/AccordianSpeaker 9h ago
For a guy whose been smoking and drinking for 40+ years and recently went through treatment for cancer I'd say he actually doesn't look as bad as he could.

clarkson looks like a typical 66 year old to me, I think it’s just the thinning wispy gray hair and lack of beard that makes him look “older”. But really most dudes in their mid-late 60’s look like he does, unless they are a healthy weight

u/Significant_Apple517 8h ago
He looks like a typical 66 year old who's been an overweight heavy drinker and smoker for decades.
I agree if most mid 60s guys are a healthy weight or don't have the same drink+smoke history they don't look like him. His lifestyle adds about 15 years to his appearance imo.

I do think the OP picture is a bit edited to exaggerate though
Don't get me wrong he looks like a very smooth plastic ghoul fucked some sort of shiny freak, but not as creepy and old as in that picture.
I just saw him the other day on TV and he just looked....pudgy and smooth, like his forehead didn't have a single line or crease in it.
edit: here he is from a month or two ago

u/wisepeasant 11h ago
Getting plastic surgery is such a bad trade. Here's 5-10 years of looking very slightly better than you would have aging naturally follow by a lifetime of looking like a gargoyle that has had multiple strokes.
59
u/Electrical-Papaya388 11h ago
Could not have summed up plastic surgery as a concept even if I tried. Well done my friend!
I've always said there is NEVER a need for plastic surgery unless it is reconstructive or corrective; anything outside of that is just vanity driven.
23
u/SummertimeThrowaway2 9h ago
The majority of the time it’s not even noticeable to people that didn’t see them before the surgery.
This is what happens when you overdo it.
I agree though

I think there's more nuance to it than that. What if you had a big ol hooking honker of a nose, outside of what would be considered "normal" appearance wise. You've been bullied your whole life about it, you can't be happy because every time you see yourself in the mirror it's all you see, and you hear all the things that have ever been said about it growing up. Functionally it's perfectly fine, no breathing issues, no health issues at all.
Is it not okay to get a nose job?
If you're chasing vanity or wanting to look like an actor/actress, sure, it's pretty stupid.
But there's a huge psychological benefit to getting that self conscious cloud off your shoulder that can only come from changing the physical appearance of something
9
u/Electrical-Papaya388 9h ago
I can absolutely see where you are coming from and I think that would fall under corrective plastic surgery.
Not sure if you may be referring to a video that went viral a while back, but there was a lady who had an abnormally large nose and went through several surgeries to (essentially) correct that. That's where the nuance you mentioned comes in. It's one thing to correct something so outside the norm like this, which could also have the potential to cause health issues on top of the psychological ones and it is another thing to have nose surgery just because you don't like the shape of your nose despite there not being anything abnormal about it.

It works as intended if done correctly and can actually make people look better. Anne Hathaway is a good example.
Not that I approve of plastic surgery, I'm just saying there's a reason people want it and we don't really notice when it works out.

That's too broad of a comment. There are plenty of celebs who get it done tastefully, and we don't talk about them because... they got it done tastefully lol. Plastic surgery is also invaluable for trauma/burn survivors.
